Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Recovering Part of His Memories

"Ah! I get it!"

Mash looked at Da Vinci with bright excitement she couldn't hold back.

Da Vinci smiled with approval and nodded elegantly.

"Seems you figured it out. That's right—if we don't actively establish observation, then even if your subgroup uses random invitation, its range will most likely be restricted to the spacetime Chaldea currently occupies. In other words, it would be limited to members inside Chaldea. It's very unlikely you could invite intelligent beings from other eras."

Then she raised one finger, pivoting her point.

"But—if we use the Sheba system to actively observe and lock onto a particular Singularity or era, and briefly synchronize our timeline with that era… then during the period that synchronization remains in effect, the range of random invitation should, in theory, expand to intelligent beings in that observed era."

She added a practical warning:

"Of course, once observation ends and the time synchronization is lifted, any member you invited from that era will be affected by spacetime isolation. They'll most likely go offline—until communications are re-established."

"Thank you, Da Vinci!"

Mash's face was filled with admiration, praise spilling out sincerely.

"No wonder you're the all-purpose genius honored as the Pioneer of the Stars—this is amazing!"

Da Vinci only waved it off with a graceful smile, as if it were nothing.

"I'm glad I could help, Mash."

With that, she turned back, refocusing on the screen in front of her—where complex physiological data about the test-tube baby Mash continued scrolling endlessly.

Mash, on the other hand, moved immediately. She organized Da Vinci's inference into a clear, concise summary and sent it to the chat group.

Replies came quickly.

[Group Leader (Eisen): As expected of a researcher—your brain just works better!]

[Group Leader (Eisen): I think Da Vinci's inference is probably the truth, or at least it's extremely logical!]

[Group Leader (Eisen): And thanks to Mash for整理ing it so cleanly! (thumbs up.jpg)]

[Roasted Eggplant (Mash): Hehe~ (shy.jpg)]

Inspired by Mash's insight, Ling surfaced at once with a new idea.

[Athletic Lunchbox (Ling): Speaking of that—Group Leader, I just thought of something.]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Ling): If I pull my master into the subgroup now, then after you successfully rewind the world… will my master's slot become empty, or will it be replaced by the "past" version of my master? (confused cat head.jpg)]

This time Eisen answered with absolute certainty.

[Group Leader (Eisen): I can answer this clearly—there is no "replacement."]

[Group Leader (Eisen): Once I use the First Flame to complete a world rewind, then from the standpoint of existence itself, all living beings at the current point in time are equivalent to having entered death.]

[Group Leader (Eisen): And according to the operating rules of our chat group, once a member is judged dead, the slot they occupy is automatically released and becomes vacant. (pat shoulder.jpg)]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Ling): Mm-hmm, got it… so that's how it works. Guess I can't exploit that bug after all. (shrug.jpg)]

She'd originally been thinking: she could brute-force her way into heavily guarded forbidden zones, forcibly drag some key person into the group to establish a connection—then, once the job was done, have the group leader rewind time to erase the "violent break-in" process.

But as the discussion around subgroup strategy and invitation methods gradually died down, the group shop's inventory finished going live.

[Group Leader (Eisen): Alright, everyone—every item in the group shop has been listed, and all newly unlocked functions have been fully introduced. (confetti celebration.jpg)]

[Group Leader (Eisen): Let's pause today's chat here for now!]

[Group Leader (Eisen): I know it's a lot to take in. You'll all need time to think.]

[Group Leader (Eisen): With these new items and functions in mind, reassess your next steps—and plan your road and goals again. (clenched fist.jpg)]

[Group Leader (Eisen): But remember one thing: if you run into a nasty real-world problem you can't solve alone, don't hesitate—reach out in the group anytime and ask your partners for help! (cheer up.jpg)]

Responses flooded in at once.

[Giant Daifuku (Tsunade): True. It's time to sit down and sort everything out properly. (quiet reflection.jpg)]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Ling): I also need to hurry and discuss the whole "time rewind" thing with my master—and my brother and the others…]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Ling): Ahhh!!! Just thinking about how to explain time rewind is already such a pain! (clutching head meltdown.jpg)]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): Yeah… I need to think carefully too—how to make money and deal with the Toyokawa family… (serious thinking.jpg)]

[Roasted Eggplant (Mash): Um… everyone—let's do our best! (fist pump.jpg)]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): Then, everyone—farewell for now. (elegant wave.jpg)]

With Kafka's goodbye, the once-noisy group chat quickly quieted.

On the right-side member list, the green "online" indicators one after another shifted into yellow "busy" status.

Clearly, everyone's focus had returned to the real world.

Eisen, meanwhile, opened a private chat window with the Group Assistant.

[Private Chat Popup]

[Group Leader (Eisen): The upgrade is complete. Now it's time to fulfill our agreement—and let me retrieve the memories I lost.]

[Group Assistant: Command confirmed.]

[Group Assistant: Current group level: Lv1.]

[Group Assistant: Conditions met.]

[Group Assistant: Per Core Clause 7 of the initial binding agreement, initiating Memory Restoration function.]

[Group Assistant: Target: Host Eisen's lost memory fragments.]

[Group Assistant: Warning: A large volume of memory data is about to be transmitted.]

[Group Assistant: Information-stream impact strength is extremely high. Host must concentrate and prepare to receive.]

[Group Assistant: Countdown: 3…2…1… Transmission begins.]

Eisen stared at the text in the popup without making any special motion.

For him, there was no need to prepare.

At this moment, all he had to do was completely release the suppression he kept on himself—

and his senses would extend without limit, piercing the veil of reality, slipping easily into the discontinuous fault lines of spacetime structure… even touching the bottom layer of the world: the oceanic torrent of information that composes all things.

Could he accept and process that boundless information in an instant?

The corner of Eisen's mouth lifted—so faint it was almost unnoticeable.

Of course he could. Effortlessly.

Don't underestimate a soul vast enough to bear the First Flame—one that is scorched by it at every moment, a soul large enough to rival a world itself.

This level of informational shock wasn't even worth mentioning.

Soon, memories surged up from the depths of his mind.

The sensation was strange—not like using a Purging Stone or a Purging Monument, where memory returns naturally, like a stream.

Instead, it was as if countless images, sounds, and emotions were forcibly shoved into the deepest layers of his consciousness by some external power.

Like reading a stranger's diary—yet between every line was an eerie thread of familiarity.

Using an example from his current world, it was like the difference between playing a game with your own hands… and watching a livestream "cloud play."

In only a few seconds, the injected torrent halted abruptly. The transmission was complete.

Eisen opened his eyes again.

While receiving the memories, he had already fully absorbed the enormous information stream.

His expression didn't erupt into violent emotion—only a faint, odd look of absurdity.

"So that's how it is…"

"The world of the First Flame wasn't my true homeland either."

He murmured.
