Chapter 5 - Thank You, Stranger!!

The scene begins in the evening with Mikey, and he says, "She took way more time than usual." Mikey gets up to leave, but Angel comes to him and says, "Sorry for the wait."

Mikey says, "Your coffee's cold now."

Angel replies, "No worries. Taking a day off like this is fair."

Mikey asks, "Are you alright?"

Angel says, "Why?"

Mikey responds, "Taking leave like this??"

Angel says, "Don't worry. My boyfriend can handle that."

The scene shifts to the headquarters, where people are confused about how the Mascot could have returned. One man says, "But this isn't possible. As far as I remember, his name was last seen on any list seven years ago."

Another man calls the detective and says, "Check properly and tell me if there's anything." The detective stands there in shock and does not respond. Over the walkie-talkie, the man keeps trying to reach him, but the detective says nothing. He just stands still, and in front of him lies a bound man whose identity is unrecognizable.

At the headquarters, both men grow worried that he isn't responding. One of them says, "Keep trying to reach him. I'll call for reinforcements."

The first man says, "I'm trying—" but suddenly the detective speaks, "I'm here… fine."

At headquarters, the second man pushes the first aside and says, "Listen, try to get some information from the victim."

The detective replies in a trembling voice, "He's… he's… he's dead."

Both men at headquarters fall silent upon hearing this.

The detective continues, still trembling and too afraid to speak, "There's nothing here either… we've been tricked by him."

The second man at headquarters says, "Don't stay there too long. We're sending reinforcements. Stay calm and leave the place."

The detective shouts in fear, "How can I stay calm, damn it?! Now that I've seen this, he won't let me live!"

Terrified, the detective hugs himself.

From headquarters, the man says, "Don't do anything reckless. We're coming."

The detective replies, "What do you mean reckless?! I told you I was busy today, but I still signed up for this. Now he will come for me as well. You can't save me."

The detective begins to panic heavily and drops to his knees. The image of the dead body imprints itself in his mind.

From headquarters, the man says, "Don't stop responding. Keep talking."

But the detective drops the walkie-talkie and stares blankly at the corpse. His eyes lose focus, and while staring at the body, he passes out.

At headquarters, the man reports to the higher-ups, shouting, "The Mascot has returned!"

As he reports, the scene shifts to Mikey and Angel, who are leaving the library.

A higher-up says, "What the hell are you talking about? He was shot dead—how can you say that?"

The agent replies, "We don't know anything for sure, but one thing is certain now—he has already blended into society."

As this is said, the scene shows Mikey and Angel. Mikey suddenly notices the library guard, and for a split second, they make eye contact. Mikey and Angel leave the library.

The guard picks up his phone and says, "Angel left the library with a man."

The scene shifts to evening again. Mikey and Angel are sitting together in a restaurant. Angel is drinking a mojito, and Mikey has an ice cream.

Mikey says, "They said dinner will take time to prepare."

Angel replies, "I've got no problem. I don't eat much anyway."

Mikey says, "Oh, but it looks like you already ate something?"

Angel replies, "Not right now, but when you came earlier."

Mikey says, "That's good."

Angel asks, "So you live alone?"

Mikey replies, "No, I'm married. I have a wife and a kid at home."

Angel says, "You don't even know how to lie."

Mikey says, "I'm not joking."

Angel asks, "Then what are you doing with me?"

Mikey replies, "Taking a treat from you, I guess."

Angel says, "Who said I was giving you a treat?"

Mikey asks, "Then why did you call me?"

Angel replies, "I don't know—you were stalking me."

Mikey says, "I should call your boyfriend and tell him you're cheating."

As Mikey takes out his phone, Angel says, "Go ahead."

Mikey stops.

Angel says again, "Go ahead. He already knows I'm with you."

Mikey says, "But you didn't call anyone in front of me."

Angel replies, "He may have found out by now."

Mikey says, "I should leave then."

Angel interrupts, "Don't worry. He won't come here."

Mikey sits properly and asks, "How much do you even know about me?"

Angel replies, "Do you know why I'm even with you right now? Because I wanted to see what kindness looks like."

Mikey is shocked, and his phone beeps for two seconds.

Angel says, "Your phone reacted with you as well."

Mikey replies, "Forget it."

Angel continues, "Ever since I was a kid, I've always heard about you. Don't you want to ask why?"

Mikey says nothing and simply nods slightly.

Angel says, "I was raised by Max's family, so I spent most of my time with him and his family. As long as I remember my childhood and adulthood with Max, he always talked about you like he really missed those times."

Mikey asks, "What about your family?"

Angel replies, "They're gone. After that, I lived with Max's family."

Mikey says, "Sorry to hear that."

Angel replies, "But right now, I have no problems. I'm living with Max, and he has even limited his illegal work for me. So everything is going well."

Mikey says, "That's good to hear, considering his position."

Both sit silently for a while. Then Mikey apologises to Angel, because he had thought Max was with the wrong girl.

Angel says, "Don't worry. I won't betray him. I don't want to die."

Mikey smiles and says, "That's good. My friend is settled."

Angel is slightly stunned after seeing Mikey's smile.

By then, the food arrives, but Mikey gets up from his seat and says to the waiter, "Can you please pack this portion? I'll pay extra."

Angel asks, "Why are you leaving?"

Mikey replies, "It's not right to eat with my friend's fiancée. I'll eat with my family."

Angel says, "Is that so? Then please pack mine as well—but he will pay for it."

Mikey asks, "Why?"

Angel replies, "Can't you pay once?"

Mikey, with a tired expression, says, "Just this once."

In her mind, Angel thinks, How do I explain this to him? I lost my wallet at the library…

The scene shifts to Max, who is on a call.

The man on the call says, "How did you let her go? I told you to follow her, so why didn't you?"

Max replies, "Don't worry. He won't harm any of us. She promised she wouldn't meet him again. She was just curious about him."

The other man shouts, "Damn it! You don't know anything about him. Do you even have any idea how much charisma he possesses now? You will lose Angel if she meets him again—or maybe it's already too late—"

Max calms him down and says, "Don't worry, old man. Don't think I've forgotten my game. Just stay low for now. There's a reason I let him live."

The man says, "I've got news that he has started hunting people again."

Max asks, "Was he affiliated with us?"

The man replies, "He's not affiliated with any of us. He killed him for some other purpose."

Max says, "That doesn't feel right. Why would he kill people for no reason?"

The man replies, "Maybe someone is trying to frame him and use his name to get away."

Max says, "The last time I met him, it didn't feel like he was planning anything like that. Someone must be framing him."

The man says, "Whatever he's doing, we need to stay low—and you know why."

The scene shifts to Mikey, who is also on a call.

The person on the call says, "Why didn't you leave the moment I gave you the signal?"

Mikey replies, "Nothing. She seemed interesting, that's why."

The caller says, "Consider yourself lucky they didn't come to see you, or you'd be gone."

Mikey replies, "They wouldn't come anyway. I prepared a gift for them."

The caller says, "Don't stay in the spotlight too much now. Play carefully."

Mikey replies, "Don't worry, Uncle. The game has just started."
