Chapter 23 - The Silent Surge

After seeing Xinxia safely home, I returned to my room. The house was quiet, the air settled. I locked the door and pulled the Moonlight Cultivation Vessel from the System Space. In the dim light, the silver pendant seemed to drink in the darkness, glowing with a soft, rhythmic pulse.

I sat cross-legged on my bed, placing the vessel in front of me. As I closed my eyes and entered a meditative state, I felt the difference immediately. Usually, drawing mana from the atmosphere felt like pulling silk threads through a needle—steady, but slow. Now, it felt like a floodgate had been cracked open.

The moonlight streaming through my window didn't just hit the floor; it curved toward the vessel, spiraling into a vortex of pure, silver energy.

[System Note: Moonlight Cultivation Vessel active 40% increase. Total Cultivation rate: 7 times.]

"This is incredible," I thought, my consciousness sinking deep into my spiritual world. My stars, which usually drifted with a calm, orbiting grace, were now vibrating with excitement. They were absorbing the refined energy at a rate that giving me illusion that my previous two days of work look like a crawl.

I focused on my primary element. In the Versatile Mage world, every level of cultivation was a wall of stone. To break through from Basic to Intermediate, or Intermediate to High, you needed more than just talent—you needed a mountain of resources. But with this vessel, I was becoming my own resource.

Hours bled into one another. The cool, soothing energy of the vessel acted like a balm, preventing the mental fatigue that usually forced mages to stop after a few hours of meditation. I could feel the boundaries of my stars expanding, the glow of my magical sea becoming denser, more vibrant.

By the time the first hint of dawn touched the horizon, I opened my eyes. I didn't feel tired; on the contrary, my mind was sharper than it had ever been. I stood up and stretched, feeling the faint hum of power beneath my skin.

"At this rate," I whispered, looking at the now-dormant vessel, "I'll reach the next stage far ahead of schedule. Bo City might be a small pond, but I'm no longer just a small fish."

I tucked the vessel away. Today was a new day, and while the city looked the same outside my window, the balance of power had silently shifted in my favor.

Six months passed just like that. During these six months, I have cultivated my magic every single day, never letting the Moonlight Cultivation Vessel go to waste. Finally, three days ago, I reached the 3rd level of the Primary stage. Not satisfied with just the natural peak, I immediately spent seven Servant-level and seven Warrior-level souls to upgrade my stars through the System, pushing my magic all the way to Level 5.

During these six months, other than my intense cultivation, I also attended middle school, staying in the same class as Mo Fan and Zhang Xiaohou. It was a strange double life—acting like a normal student by day while building a private empire by night. My relationships with Mu Ningxue and Ye Xinxia also began to shift; the simple friendship we once had started to turn into something more, a lingering warmth that felt like it was on the verge of becoming something deeper, yet we hadn't quite reached that stage yet.

As today's class ended, the three of us walked out of the school gates into the warm afternoon air. Mo Fan turned to me with his usual grin.

"Yuzi, you coming with us for hotpot?" Mo Fan asked, leaning back with his hands behind his head.

"Brother Yuzi, it's been a month since we hit that spot!" Zhang Xiaohou chimed in, practically vibrating with hunger. "The spicy broth is calling."

"I have something I need to take care of today," I said, offering a casual wave. "How about tomorrow? It's the weekend, so we can take our time."

"Always busy, this guy," Mo Fan grinned, shaking his head. "Fine, tomorrow. Don't be late!"

"See you tomorrow, Brother Yuzi!" Xiaohou called out as they turned the corner.

The truth was, I was planning to head straight to the Bo City base to test the limits of my magic power. I needed to see the results of my hard work in a controlled environment. My innate magic power is naturally two times stronger than a normal mage's, and with my Natural Spirit Seed, my destructive force is amplified even further. When those are combined with the structural density of my Level 5 stars, my magic is nearly six times stronger than a intermediate lv2 spell.

I watched them turn the corner before shifting my direction toward the outskirts of the city. My destination was a private facility—a hidden training ground for the Li family's private forces.

.....

I arrived at the Bo City base just as the sun was beginning to set. The facility was quiet, but the atmosphere inside was electric with the focus of the mages on duty. I ignored the greetings from the sentries and went straight to the specialized testing hall.

The chamber was built with high-density materials to withstand the shockwaves of Intermediate-level magic—a necessary precaution for what I was about to attempt.

"Master Yuzi, the array is active," one of the mages said, stepping back to the control panel. "It will measure raw impact, penetration, and mana density."

I stood at the center of the hall, facing a massive, reinforced obsidian pillar. I took a deep breath, feeling the Moonlight Cultivation Vessel resting against my chest, though its power was no longer needed for this. I closed my eyes and connected to my spiritual world.

The Level 5 stars didn't just drift; they vibrated with a terrifying, refined energy. I didn't need to struggle to align them; they snapped into place with the precision of a master-crafted machine.

As the mana surged through my veins, my innate double strength acted as a high-pressure pump, forcing twice the usual amount of magical energy into the star path. Then, the Natural Spirit Seed caught that energy, igniting it with a 3x multiplier.

The air in the room began to hum, then scream. The mages behind the reinforced glass shield widened their eyes. They had seen Basic-level students before, but they had never felt a "Basic" spell warp the air like this.

I opened my eyes, which were now glowing with the intense light of my element.

"Fire Burst: Burning Heavens! Level 5!"

I unleashed the spell. A streak of concentrated power tore through the air, moving so fast it left a vacuum in its wake. When it struck the obsidian pillar, there was no sound of a struggle—just a sharp, thunderous crack that echoed through the entire base.

The pillar, designed to handle thousands of pounds of pressure, didn't just break. The point of impact was completely pulverized, and a spiderweb of cracks raced all the way to the floor.

The digital readout on the wall flickered frantically before settling on a number that made the room go silent.

"Six times the standard output of a Level 3 Basic spell..." the technician whispered, his voice trembling. "Master... that's not a Basic spell anymore. That's a miniature disaster."

I pulled back my mana, my breathing slightly heavy but my mind exhilarated. The theory was correct. With my innate talents and the lv.5 spell upgrades, I wasn't just a genius among my peers. I was a monster hiding in a classroom. It's power just now was almost on par with a spirit seed intermidiate lv.2 spell.

"Log the data," I said calmly, turning toward the exit. "And make sure this doesn't leave this room. I'm going home."
