"Hey …" Amelia called out again when, even after a long moment, she heard no sound from Adelyn's side. "You're still there?"
She pulled the phone away from her ear to check whether the call was still connected.

Freya noticed her expression and asked with a slight frown, "What's wrong?"
Amelia looked at her and casually shrugged. "I don't know. She suddenly went silent. Could it be that she fainted from weakness?"
Freya's expression immediately grew tenser.
"She—"
She was about to speak when Adelyn's voice suddenly came from the other end of the line.
"I haven't fainted. I'm still on the line."
"You are?" Amelia asked, her voice carrying obvious disbelief. "Then why aren't you speaking? You almost made us panic."
"I was just caught up in a thought. I …"
