Adelyn had just begun to speak when she paused at his words. Slightly dumbfounded, she tilted her head and asked, "Huh?"
However, Dylan's expression didn't change. His gaze lingered on her for a moment before he repeated calmly, "What did I do to upset you, Ms. Grace?"
She had no idea where that was coming from.
Still, choosing the safer route, she replied, "It seems there's some misunderstanding, Mr. Warren. I'm not upset. And with you …" she clicked her tongue lightly and shook her head, "definitely not."
Could she even afford to be upset with him?
"Then why do I feel like you're deliberately trying to avoid me?" Dylan asked with ease. Yet beneath that calm tone, there was something else —subtle, but unmistakably pressuring.
"Didn't you say you had feelings for me … something you couldn't run away from, just nights ago?"
Her breath hitched.
She knew what he was referring to.
But she didn't know how to respond.
