Adelyn nodded, gently patting Eira's head.
"Stay!"
Eira couldn't have been happier. Her eyes lit up at once, and her face glowed with delight.
Turning to her father, she spoke quickly —as if afraid the offer might be taken back the next second.
"Eira will stay," she said, beaming.
Dylan watched her for a moment, then gave a small nod.
Without another word, he turned, ready to leave.
Without another word, he turned, ready to leave.
"Mr. Warren —"
Adelyn's voice came soft, yet urgent.
Dylan halted mid-step and glanced back over his shoulder.
For a brief moment, she almost told him to stay.
But the thought barely formed before she suppressed it.
The entanglement between them was already complicated enough. Asking him to stay —even out of simple kindness —would only make it worse.
"We'll walk you downstairs."
With that, she took Eira's hand and followed him.
Dylan didn't object.
