Adelyn was about to say something when Nigel's words made her stiffen.
After a moment she spoke, almost in a chiding tone. Raising her hand, she grabbed his ear and twisted it sharply in punishment.
"What boyfriend? What absurd nonsense have you been imagining in my absence?"
Nigel winced at the sudden pain. Just moments ago, he had been the one questioning her —and now the situation had flipped completely.
"Ah … ah," he hissed, reaching up to pry her hand away. "Let go of my ear. That hurts!"
"I am using this pain to wake you up," she retorted. "Are you still dreaming about me having a boyfriend?"
She twisted it once more before finally letting go.
Nigel immediately stepped back, rubbing his ear.
"You —who is dreaming?" he shot back. "I only repeated what you said yesterday."
"I said that?"
