Chapter 14 - Rowls

Moonlight readied for the impact, slightly twisting his body to the source of the cry. His fist lightened and he glared at a nearby mountain.

From behind, something small moved in a flash, clearing trees and land in its wake. Its direction, Moonlight, and its goal were very clear.

Moonlight mind raced, searching for answers, reasons, on why they are still alive? He was so sure that Cloud had done away with them all and then why are they here and alive, the Rowls.

The perspective switched, a tiny animal moved past Moonlight. Moonlight dodged but no one can say the same for the tree behind his back.

Tiny dusts of smoke flared, soared from a now cleanly cut-down tree behind him. The sun's red gaze now focused at that specific location. Though, Moonlight neither focused nor gave no attention.

Soon, another came and then another, until they filled the air with their tiny body.

Moonlight complained quietly, 'Why do they always come in groups?'

He bent his back downward and a rowl moved past him again. While still in the same position, another came for his legs, more specially, the left, on lifting the leg he was able to move from harm's way. From his back, another rushed again, aiming for his right leg and again, he averted.

It was now Moonlight noticed, he's lost balance.

His perception shifted upward.

Above him, a rowl was positioned at the sky, just right above him, ready to pierce through everything below it. Moonlight included.

'So that's your plan.'

He thought, 'Monsters has always been known for devising tactics in fights and this is the first I'm see…'

Moonlight lips curled to a grin, eyes full of astonishment. He was seeing this for the first time. Moonlight has always read in books about monsters.

With an absurd speed that seemed to tear through the sky, falling at the speed of sound or maybe even faster. The rowl moved, letting free-fall increase his speed drastically. For one reason, to eradicate the human that invaded their domain.

However, Moonlight still engulfed in his own amazement, observed how all would go, while still falling. Forgetting he's still a kid.

The moment the rowl reached just a centimeter from Moonlight body; everything changed.

Moonlight twisted his body in a circular manner that his left foot was somehow atop the rowl head and his body away from the rowl's trajectory.

The rowl knew not of its situation at this moment as its perception was still far too slow compared to Moonlight speed.

"…run…" Mysteriously the other rowls spoke.

In an instant, Moonlight attack landed with a spinning kick that defied logic. There was no momentum, no lift, yet he was able to twist perfectly in mid-air.

Slamming that rowl to the ground and right then was able to move again so fast, that everything around stopped moving. With terrifying precision, he tapped the remaining into oblivion and left one alive, the rowl who spoke.

Then, he stopped and time seemed to move normally again.

Moonlight muttered, "Adna's are dangerous."

He removed his grey top, picked up the shaken rowl he left alive and tied it inside.

"Sorry. Monsters don't usually speak, so you're gonna be with me until I find out the reason."

Moonlight said. As he tightened it with his sleeve and held the tightened cloth like a small bag.

BAM…!

The feel to the east of Moonlight changed with an echo and Moonlight felt it. The rowls that were defeated by Moonlight simultaneously all turned to dust and were blown by the smooth breeze.

I thought monsters don't usually dissipate.

'Well I guess there's more for me to learn'.

Immediately after recording this, Moonlight headed to the direction of the bam in an attempt to figure out what caused that. He sensed a familiar energy.

Through trees, weird plants of different colors, shapes, sizes and texture. Moonlight walked through them, slowly. He kept an observant eye on the surrounding due to past experience.

After thirty seconds of walking, he began to feel bored again and his mind flew back to past thoughts.

'Adna's are dangerous.'

'Monsters can talk, who knew?'

Still on the move, Moonlight lifted his hands and stared at his palms. 'Adna's are terrifying creatures.'

He journeyed until he reached a lake that connects two roads, one been where he's standing and the other opposite him, which looks just like a replica of it.

'Come to think of it, is this place a repeating loop?'

He thought, and that was proving to be true.

Over the course, trees of unequal size had been his attraction. And there doesn't seem to be any change at all from the feel he's getting from the land ahead.

Somehow, the light was placed at the center of the entire forest and this road looks to be closer to the center that what one may think.

 BAM!!

Then, he heard that same sound again.

"Please stop, I'm tired."
