Meher stared at her phone.
Two notifications. Two voices. Two worlds.
Aarav calling. Reyaan's message.
The rain outside tapped gently against the window, as if urging her to decide.
She sighed and opened Aarav's call first.
"Hey," his voice sounded calm but there was an edge of concern.
"Hi," she replied softly.
"You're alive, right?" he joked lightly, trying to hide the worry.
"Yes… just adjusting." She hesitated. "Aarav… there's someone at the fellowship… Reyaan. He… helps me with writing sometimes."
A pause. Then he said quietly:
"Helping you… or distracting you?"
She swallowed. She knew he wasn't angry… just protective.
"Both… maybe. But it's nothing more than guidance."
He exhaled, a little relieved.
"Good. I trust you."
And just like that, her heart softened.
Later, she looked at Reyaan's message again: "Coffee tomorrow? I want to discuss your ending."
She typed carefully: "Sure. Discussion only."
She paused before sending.
Because even if Reyaan was kind, even if he challenged her, there was only one person who mattered.
Aarav.
She smiled faintly, watching the rain streak the city.
Crossroads didn't always mean losing. Sometimes… they meant choosing wisely.
The next day, Aarav called again.
"Want to video chat?" he asked.
"Yes," she said.
The screen connected.
They didn't need words at first. Just seeing each other's faces… the small gestures, the familiar smiles, the way his eyes softened when he looked at her…
She realized something.
Distance, new people, and challenges didn't weaken love.
They tested it.
And her choice was clear.
"I miss you," she said, softly.
"I know," he whispered back.
The rain outside slowed, leaving soft drops like a quiet applause.
Some storms were necessary.
Some distance was necessary.
But love?
Love always finds a way.
