In an instant, like silver lightning, Moon dashed through the valley, carrying Wang Feng and Lingling swiftly across the rugged terrain.
The task of mapping naturally fell to Lingling. She held a magical tablet in her hand, her fingers gliding across the screen, recording terrain, landforms, and key landmarks one by one.
The map gradually took shape. Though simple, it was clear, and every detail was marked with precision.
"Lingling, there's a nest of miscellaneous dragons on the mountain wall over there," Wang Feng suddenly said, pointing toward a distant mountain wall about a hundred meters high.
On the wall, a huge nest clung precariously, and several bluebirds and dragons circled it, low chirping sounds drifting in the air.
Lingling looked, nodded, and quickly marked a point on the tablet, adding a brief note:
"Bluebird mixed dragon nest, mixed dragon species, living in groups, danger level: medium."
"These bluebird dragons aren't especially strong, but in large numbers, they can be troublesome. We'd better avoid them," Lingling whispered.
Wang Feng nodded and patted Moon's head. "Go around the left side, quietly."
Moon growled softly, adjusted her direction, and ran toward a hidden path on the left.
As they passed the mountain wall, Lingling's attention was caught by a patch of inconspicuous grass.
"Huh? Ambergris?" she whispered in surprise.
"Stop immediately!" Wang Feng shouted.
Moon skidded to a halt.
"Lingling, ambergris… that's a rare resource, right?" Wang Feng asked, eyes glinting.
"Yes. Ambergris is a valuable ingredient for high-level potions," Lingling nodded, still focused on the patch.
"I didn't expect to make extra money just by coming here!" Wang Feng licked his lips, leaped from Moon's back, and approached the ambergris.
"Be careful," Lingling warned. "Ambergris usually grows near a sub-dragon's lair. Its presence means a sub-dragon might have been here—or could still be nearby."
Wang Feng nodded, closing his eyes as an invisible mental force radiated from him, scanning the surrounding area.
After a moment, he exhaled. "No signs of life. Should be safe."
Lingling nodded. "Then collect it quickly—don't linger."
Wang Feng gathered all the ambergris and stored it in his space bracelet.
He returned to Moon's back and whispered, "Moon, let's go!"
"Ao~" Moon roared, her body dipping slightly before she shot out of the valley like silver lightning.
They sped across Dragon Valley, Moon's silver-white figure leaving afterimages in the sunlight.
Wang Feng scanned the landscape, looking for dragon nests, while Lingling concentrated on mapping, the tablet constantly updating.
As the sun began to set, casting golden-red hues on the valley peaks, Wang Feng found a flat, open plain suitable for a temporary camp.
"Let's rest here tonight," Wang Feng said, patting Moon's head to signal her to stop.
Moon growled and slowed to a halt.
Wang Feng jumped off, confirmed the area was safe, and began setting up a camp.
"Lingling, how's the map coming along?" he asked, pulling a tent from the space bracelet.
Lingling calculated quickly, fingers sliding across the tablet. "We've covered nearly a thousand kilometers today, and the map accounts for about one-fifth of the commission requirements.
If we consider areas other teams might explore, it'll likely take another week to complete the mission."
Wang Feng handed Lingling a can from his bracelet. "Make do with this. I'll treat you to a proper meal when we return."
Lingling glanced at him. "You already owe me three meals."
Wang Feng scratched his head. "Uh… next time, for sure!"
Lingling rolled her eyes but then frowned. "I don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems like the dragon beasts have been avoiding us."
Wang Feng paused. "Are you sure it's not the spray?"
Shaking her head, Lingling's expression was serious. "The spray only makes it harder for dragons to detect us—they're not blind. A target like Moon would still be noticed."
She paused, then continued, "Remember that afternoon when the thornback pseudodragon spotted us? It didn't attack—it ran away as if seeing a predator."
Wang Feng nodded. The behavior had seemed odd even then. A commander-level pseudo-dragon shouldn't flee lightly.
"The predator… could it be the Azure Dragon?" Wang Feng concluded.
Calmly, he stood and addressed Lingling. "Stay here with Moon. If anything happens, let her contact me."
Lingling nodded, still eating, while Wang Feng's figure vanished in a green wind track, merging into the night.
Soon, Wang Feng found a pseudo-dragon nest in a valley, with skeletons of dragon beasts scattered around.
A commander-level pseudo-dragon immediately noticed him. Its huge, muscular body bristled, red eyes glaring, and hot breath issuing from its nostrils. Horns glinted coldly in the fading light.
But Wang Feng saw fear and impatience in its expression, as though it dreaded something unseen.
"Of course… these reactions are due to the Azure Dragon," Wang Feng thought.
A moon-white star map appeared behind him.
A shadow of a green dragon several dozen feet long slowly materialized and hovered.
The pseudo-dragon's pupils contracted in terror upon seeing the Azure Dragon. Its body trembled violently, limbs went limp, foam dribbled from its mouth, and it collapsed.
"Hiss~"
"Qinglong is incredible… a general-level warrior can terrify a commander-level pseudo-dragon to death?" Wang Feng muttered.
