Maverick stood inside the waiting room of the hospital, his shoe clicking as he waited for Lucrezia and Jace.
He caught the brief glances people threw his way, something akin to intrigue flickering in their eyes despite his efforts to dress as casually—and as non-intimidatingly—as possible.
He had told his other men to wait outside the hospital whilst just a few came in to keep the watch, away from each other though to avoid suspicion from the crowd.
That was the best he could do but it seemed regardless, he garnered much attention.
By the time Lucrezia and Jace arrived, there was a breath of relief from him as he stood up to meet them before they even sighted him.
"Maverick!" Lucrezia was the first to call him as she got closer before partially stopping, realising people had turned to stare at her.
