Chapter 37 - Claiming her

The first thing Lucrezia saw when she opened her eyes was light.

It flickered faintly above her with the chandeliers pouring in more brightness that made it hard for her to focus.

Her head felt very heavy and clouded, like she was moving through thick fog, making it difficult for her to even move or think for a moment.

She just lay there on the soft bed, letting her vision slowly adjust to her environment before awareness steadily began to creep in.

This wasn't her room.

Her brows drew together slightly as her gaze shifted, taking in more of the space around her.

This room was much bigger than hers and felt eerily familiar in a way she couldn't quite describe. There was a kind of darkness in it that she believed she had felt before and it didn't just stem from the lack of light, but from how everything was arranged.

From where she lay, she could see the black curtains and deeply muted colours that gave an empty feeling to the room– something she wasn't used to.
