Chapter 31 - Episode 31 – The Truth Behind The King

The morning sunlight entered Sasmita's room softly, but her heart still carried the darkness of last night.

She had barely slept.

Every time she closed her eyes, she saw smoke… gunshots… Vikram's smirk… and Srikant standing like a wall between her and death.

Was this love?

Or was this a dangerous world she had unknowingly stepped into?

Her phone vibrated.

Srikant calling.

She stared at the screen for a few seconds before answering.

"Are you okay?" his deep voice sounded softer than usual.

"I'm fine," she replied, but her voice betrayed her.

There was a pause.

"Sasmita… I need to tell you something. And this time, I won't hide it."

Her heartbeat quickened.

"What truth?" she whispered.

"Meet me today. 5 PM. Old railway bridge."

The call ended.

5 PM – Old Railway Bridge

The sky was painted orange and purple. A lonely train track stretched endlessly, symbol of a journey that never stops.

Sasmita stood there, wind playing with her hair. Her heart felt heavy. Something big was about to change.

A black car stopped near the bridge.

Srikant stepped out.

But today… he looked different.

Not just the loving man she knew.

There was power in his walk. Authority in his silence.

When he reached her, he didn't smile.

"I promised I would protect you," he began. "But protection sometimes comes from a world you may hate."

Her chest tightened.

"What are you hiding from me, Srikant?"

He looked straight into her eyes.

"I am not just a businessman."

Silence.

The wind blew harder.

"I run a network. A powerful one. Intelligence. Undercover operations. Strategic control. Some call it mafia. Some call it protection."

Her world froze.

"What…?" her voice trembled.

"I control movements. I stop illegal arms deals. I eliminate threats before they reach innocent people. But yes… my methods are not clean."

Tears formed in her eyes.

"So the gunshots… the drones… the men…"

"Yes."

"And Vikram?"

"He was once part of my system."

Her breath stopped.

"He betrayed me. Now he wants to hurt me through you."

She stepped back.

"You lied to me."

"I hid the truth to keep you away from danger."

"You brought danger into my life!" she shouted, pain cracking her voice.

For the first time, Srikant looked helpless.

"I never wanted you involved. But the moment I fell in love with you… you became my weakness."

The word echoed.

Weakness.

She turned away, tears falling freely.

"I didn't ask to be part of this world," she whispered.

"I know," he said softly. "That's why I'm giving you a choice."

She looked at him.

"Walk away now. I'll disappear from your life. You'll be safe. Vikram won't touch you."

Her heart shattered at the thought.

"And you?" she asked.

"I'll handle my world alone."

Silence filled the bridge.

A train horn echoed far away.

She walked closer to him slowly.

"Why didn't you trust me with the truth earlier?"

"Because loving you was the only pure thing in my life. I didn't want to stain it."

Her tears stopped.

For the first time, she saw not the powerful King… but a man afraid of losing love.

"But understand this," he continued, voice firm now.

"If you stay with me, there will be risks. Fear. Enemies. Dark nights."

She looked into his eyes.

"And if I leave?"

"You'll live peacefully. Forget me."

Her chest tightened painfully.

Forget him?

The man who stood between her and death?

The man who risked everything?

The man whose voice made her heart race?

She shook her head slowly.

"You don't get to decide my courage for me."

Srikant's eyes widened slightly.

"I'm scared," she admitted. "But I'm not weak."

Wind rushed across the bridge.

"If I stay," she said firmly, "you tell me everything. No more lies. No more secrets."

His jaw tightened.

"That means you enter my world completely."

"Then teach me how to survive in it."

For a long moment, they just stared at each other.

Then slowly… Srikant stepped forward.

"You're stronger than I thought."

She gave a faint smile.

"And you're more dangerous than I imagined."

Suddenly—

A gunshot echoed.

Both froze.

A bullet hit the metal railing behind them.

Vikram's voice echoed from the shadows below the bridge.

"Beautiful confession scene… but tragic ending!"

Srikant immediately pulled Sasmita behind him.

"Stay down!"

More gunshots.

Srikant's men appeared from both sides.

Chaos erupted again.

But this time…

Sasmita didn't freeze.

She grabbed Srikant's arm.

"I'm not running."

He looked at her quickly.

"Stay close."

Vikram appeared on the lower platform, holding a sniper.

"You chose the King's world, Queen!" he shouted.

Srikant's eyes burned with rage.

"You'll regret this, Vikram."

The fight intensified.

Srikant moved strategically, signaling his men.

Within minutes, Vikram's shooters were cornered.

But Vikram escaped again—jumping onto a moving truck below.

Before disappearing, he shouted:

"Next time… she won't survive!"

Silence returned slowly.

Police sirens sounded in the distance.

Sasmita stood still, breathing heavily.

She looked at Srikant.

"This is my reality now, right?"

He nodded slowly.

She walked closer and held his hand.

"Then we fight it together."

For the first time, Srikant allowed himself to smile fully.

"Together."

The sun finally dipped below the horizon.

Two silhouettes stood on the railway bridge—

Not just lovers.

But partners in war.

The Love Train had crossed into a dangerous track now.

And there was no turning back.
