Chapter 48 - The Uninvited Guest :

Sheyaan angery had reached it's peak. Without a word, she tore off the chain the one Zavian had given her in childhood.

Her eyes burned with hearted as she flung it straight at his chest.

Her heart was breaking with pain and anger, because when she was facing death and calling out to him, he didn't come to save her.

Zavian, who was watching her throw the chain in anger, his gaze grew even more intense. In a firm yet low voice, he asked:

"Why did you throw this...?"

Sheyaan glared at him with her red, anger-filled eyes and said in a broken tone:

"Because it's useless now! I..called you so many times... I begged you, but you.. didn't come!

"You left me alone in.. front of that monster! Why did you do that, huh?"

Zavian felt hurt inside, but he didn't let any reaction show on his face.

He remained silent like a stone statue. Then he picked up the chain and said softly:

"Wear it again, Sheyaan."

But Sheyaan stood firm in her stubbornness. Looking at him with her soft yet moist eyes, she said:

"Do you even know.. how scared I was? You ignored my cries!"

Zavian didn't reply. He just kept looking at her with those cold eyes.

Then silently, he stepped forward, held her hand, and started putting the chain back on her wrist. Looking into her eyes, he said in a very soft tone:

"Wear this... and remember, from now on, whenever you call me, I will come. Alright? This is my promise."

Sheyaan didn't reply, but there was a strange sense of calm in her silence.

Just then, Zavian's eyes fell on her hand—the same hand where the bluish marks of his fingers were still fresh.

It was a wound he himself had given her.

Zavian glanced at her face, which had softened a little now. He took out a medicine box from the drawer beside the bed and gently started applying ointment to her wound.

Sheyaan, watching this changed side of Zavian, smiled quietly to herself. She felt happy knowing that he regretted what he had done.

After applying the medicine, Zavian looked at her and said in his composed voice:

"Stop staring at me like that... and now, I don't want any questions from you. Just… rest."

Sheyaan was about to say something, but seeing his stern expression, she stayed silent.

She quietly moved back and lay down on the bed. Then Zavian covered her with a blanket and said:

"Go to sleep. I'll be sitting here on the sofa."

Zavian went and sat on the sofa in front of the bed, facing her, and took out his phone from his pocket.

Watching him, Sheyaan drifted into sleep without even realizing it. Sitting there, Zavian looked like a King… guarding his Queen.

But then… there was a loud KNOCK on the door of Sheyaan's room!

"Knock!!" "Knock!!"

The loud knocking on the door shattered the silence of the room.

Zavian lifted his gaze from his phone and glanced once at the sleeping Sheyaan, who was holding the pillow tightly,

resting peacefully. Zavian slowly stood up and opened the door.

As soon as the door opened, Zavian's face turned cold. Fangxi was standing there.

A slight smile rested on his lips as he asked with concern:

"Is Sheyaan... asleep?"

Zavian replied in a cold, flat tone:

"Yes, she is sleeping."

Hearing this, Fangxi stepped inside the room. Seeing Sheyaan asleep brought relief to his heart.

But in Zavian's eyes, there was a hint of suspicion toward Fangxi—as if he wanted to uncover something.

Just as Fangxi was about to speak, a strange voice echoed—deep and mysterious:

"Fangxi... you didn't tell me... where my room is?"

The moment Zavian heard that voice, he became alert. The next second, the stranger stepped into the room.

The instant Zavian saw him, he was completely shocked. His eyes widened in disbelief.

Sensing the tension in the atmosphere, Fangxi tried to handle the situation and said:

"Wait, I'll show you your room... but..."

However, Zavian and the stranger stared into each other's eyes as if an old rivalry or a deep secret stood between them.

Fangxi looked at both of them in confusion and said:

"Hey... why are you.. two looking at each other like that?"

An eerie silence settled over the room. Fangxi frowned confusion clear in his eyes.

"DO you two...know each other?"

A faint cunning smirk curved Zavian's lips. His gaze shifted to the strange--cold unreadable.

"Yeah..."

he paused his voice flat and calm.

"You could say that."

Fangxi paused for a moment, then laughed lightly to ease the tension,

"Alright then, come on, 'Chan', I'll show you your room."

As Chan walked away, he turned back one last time to glare at Zavian—there was something unreadable in his gaze—before continuing forward with Fangxi.

But suddenly, Zavian's voice stopped them:

"Wait!"

There was an authority in his voice that couldn't be ignored. Fangxi immediately stopped, while Chan had already taken a few steps ahead.

Zavian looked at Fangxi and asked slowly,

"First, tell me this... can I call you by your name?"

Hearing this, a slight smile appeared on Fangxi's lips. He replied without hesitation,

"Of course! You can call me.. by my name... after all, we're friends now."

Zavian heard the answer, but his eyes turned thoughtful. As if he wasn't just thinking about a name…

but trying to understand Fangxi's intentions, his secrets, and the truth hidden behind him.

Zavian looked at Fangxi seriously and asked,

"Alright... Fangxi, tell me this—why did you.. bring this boy into your house?"

Fangxi replied in a completely normal tone,

"Oh... this is Chan, Uncle Manglong's son. From today, he'll be staying here and will go to university with Sheyaan to complete his studies."

He paused for a moment and added,

"I'll give you the rest... of the details later. It's quite late now, you.. should head home... and thank you so much...for being Sheyaan's bodyguard."

Zavian listened and replied in his deep, composed voice,

"Protecting Sheyaan is my..first priority..."

He let out a faint cold breath and then said,

"Alright, I'll take.. my leave."

Before leaving, Zavian took one last look at the sleeping Sheyaan, who was now resting peacefully, turned to one side.

He stepped out of the room, but that stranger still lingered in his thoughts.

As he walked away, he muttered to himself in a flat yet dangerous tone,

"I'll have to keep a..close eye on this 'Chan'..."

Zavian had already made up his mind—keeping an eye on Chan was now his responsibility.

He quickly left Sheyaan's house, started his car, and drove away like a storm.

On the other side, Fangxi carefully closed Sheyaan's room door and led Chan toward his room.

An eerie silence spread across the entire mansion, as if no one truly lived there.

The night was deepening, but peace was still far away for Zavian.

Zavian arrived at his penthouse. There was that same "King-like" pride in his walk.

He went straight into Kalene's room. Kalene was lying sprawled on his bed, sleeping carelessly and deeply.

Zavian glared at him and shouted,

"Kalene...!!"

But Kalene didn't react.

Zavian called out again, his voice even more dangerous and intense,

"Kalene! Get up! Sleeping so..comfortably like a.buffalo?"

Hearing Zavian's heavy, growling voice, Kalene's sleep broke. He jolted awake, rubbing his eyes, and said in a sleepy tone,

"What happened...? Why are you shouting.. so much? You don't even let me sleep in peace..."

Zavian stood beside him, staring with anger, completely silent for a moment.

Then, without saying a word, he picked up the wire of a nearby lamp… and suddenly pressed it against Kalene's hand!

The moment Zavian pressed the electric wire against Kalene's hand, a sharp current ran through his entire body.

His deep sleep vanished instantly, and his painful scream echoed throughout the room:

"Aaaaaahhh...!! What is this?! Boss, are you trying to kill me?!"

"You completely shoke me!"

Kalene jolted awake in panic, eyes wide, breathing heavily. In front of him stood Zavian—cold and emotionless, as if nothing had happened.

Zavian spoke in a strict, commanding tone,

" Quietly Come to the terrace...otherwise I'll give you..such shoke that your soul won't forget them...for centuries. Got it?"

With that, he turned and walked away.

Kalene swallowed nervously and quickly jumped out of bed, rushing after him,

"Boss! Wait... I'm coming!"

A few moments later, both of them stood on the terrace. A cold breeze flowed through the night, making the silence even deeper.

The wind played with Zavian's hair, his coat fluttering—he looked like a king of darkness.

From behind, Kalene asked in a low, cautious voice,

"Tell me, Boss... what's going on? Everything okay?"

Zavian slowly turned toward him. His eyes were serious--but beneath that calm...Something dangerous luked.

"Kalene..."

His voice dropped low and heavy.

"the threat taht once watched Sheyaan from the Shadows...is now living with her."

Hearing this, Kalene's face went pale. His eyes widened, and only one word escaped his lips—

"What...?"

The air suddenly felt colder… as if a storm was just about to begin.
