Chapter 4 - THE WELCOME PARTY

VIVIENNE's POV

I blinked my eyes open, stretching my hand towards the other side of the bed only to meet it empty and cold.

My heart shattered into a thousand pieces.

Roman never came home last night.

I was supposed to be used to it by now. Apart from he came home yesterday morning, I hadn't seen him two days earlier. But it still hurt.

I slid off the bed, the coldness of the floor piercing my barefooted legs.

I walked into the bathroom and took a shower before draping a towel around my body and heading for the closet.

I wore my work outfit and headed for the dining. Maddox, Cassian and Rhys were already sitted on the dining chair, discussing.

Immediately my eyes met Rhys, the memories from yesterday hit me like a freight train.

''Oh my God!'' I screamed, staring at him in horror, my eyes laced on his open fly.

I couldn't get my eyes off it, no matter how hard I tried.

''Viv, it's not—''

''Your fly!'' I shouted, interrupting him.

He quickly zipped up and the she-wolf ran out while he was trying to step closer to me.

I quickly turned and ran for my room, completely and utterly devastated.

''Viv?'' Maddox voice broke through my thoughts.

''Um…we made breakfast. You can—''

''Thanks.'' I interrupted, walking up to them. I picked a waffle and dipped it in honey before placing it in my mouth.

''Roman didn't come home?'' Cassian asked, staring at me.

''He did. But went out early.'' I answered, lying through my teeth.

Rhys stared up at me. He'd been up all night so he obviously knew Roman didn't come back. The probably all knew.

I picked up a serviette and wiped my lips before taking a step back. ''I'll be heading to the office now.'' I murmured.

They nodded, digging into their food.

I stepped out of the pack house and headed towards the office in quick strides. Immediately I stepped into the office, Fiona hauled herself at me in a tight hug. ''Viviiiii! It's been a while since you came in the office. I thought something happened.'' She said all at once, pulling away from me and making a dramatic face.

A low chuckle escaped my lips.

''You know where's I am, Fiona. You should've come visit.'' I said, placing my bag in my office chair.

''I know…but let's not forget who my boss is. I can't just leave work and oh my God Vivi. Your husband is overworking me.'' She said, making a face like she was about to cry.

Fiona, my best friend is so freaking dramatic.

I pulled her closer and hugged her tight. ''Well I'm sorry about that. I missed you so much and I love you so muchhh.'' I blurted out, pulling away and kissing her all over the cheek.

''Let's not hear the Alpha hear that last bit.'' She whispered. ''And by the way, you're not supposed to be here. He'd kill me if he found out I let you in.''

Oh…not again!

''He won't, Fiona. I'm tired of staying home. Where are we at right now?'' I asked, going into business mode.

Fiona helped me out of my jacket and draped it on the chair handle.

''Well the council is working on sealing off the boarders. As for us, we have to prepare a contract and work on forming alliances with neighboring packs.'' She uttered, pulling out a paper and stretching it to me.

''I already drafted out this. Waiting for approval.''

I skimmed through the paper. ''This is good.'' I pulled out my phone and took a picture.

''What are you doing?'' Fiona asked, panic filling her voice.

''Sending it to my husband. It's quicker that way. Isn't it?'' I asked, raising a question eye brow her way.

''Yes it is.'' She murmured, her voice low.

I plopped on my desk and pulled closer to the computer, going through the quarterly reports I had missed.

''So…'' Fiona started, inching closer to me. ''Is there something you would like to—''

''Roman wants an open marriage.'' I blurted out. But immediately clamped my hand against my mouth when I realized what I had just done.

I had been so alone at home, without anybody to talk to that I couldn't even keep such an important part of my relationship to myself.

Fiona laughed, a loud guttural sound that escaped her mouth.

My head snapped to her, my forehead twisting in confusion. ''What the fuck is funny?'' I asked, my tone making the smile on her lips turn to a frown.

''You're joking right?'' She asked.

''I'm not joking. Roman told me he wants an open marriage.'' I uttered, my heart beating painfully as I remembered his exact words.

''Oh my God, Vivi… What did you say?''

I sighed. ''Nothing.'' I responded, unable to meet her eyes. ''I walked out. And we haven't spoken since. I—''

Fiona pulled me into her, the hug melting my heart and shattering my resolve.

My body suddenly started to tremble and the tears I had tried to hold back suddenly started pouring like a dam had broke.

I closed my eyes, my breath shaky as I hugged her back and cried into her arms.

''He wouldn't let me touch him. Wouldn't have sex with me.'' I muttered, crying harder.

My tears along with snot juice soaked into her shirt before I finally pulled away.

''He's just overwhelmed with everything that has been happening recently. I'm sure he loves you and would take back his words. Okay?'' She said, her eyes holding pity as she stared at me.

I nodded, wiping the remnant of tears off my eyes.

She was the only person capable of making me express my feelings emotionally.

I hugged her once again. ''Thank you, Fiona. I love you too.''

''Yh. And you owe me a new shirt.'' She muttered, making a gross face while staring at her fully soaked arm.

I chuckled. ''Yes, I do.''

She rolled back her chair to her spot and started to work while I narrowed my eyes on my laptop and kept working too.

Suddenly, Fiona's chair screeched against the marble floor, the sound reverbarating around the quiet room.

My eyes flew up immediately, my heart skipping an uneven beat. ''Is something wrong?''

Her eyes were on her phone. ''I—I have to go home immediately. I'm so sorry. It's something urgent.'' She responded, picking up her coat.

My face twisted. ''Urgent? Did something happen to your—''

''Gotta go.'' She interrupted, pressing a kiss to my cheek before running out of the office.

I shook my head and walked back to my chair, exhaling sharply in order to calm my heartbeat before going back to work.

By the time I was done, the sun had dipped below its horizon.

I stood up and stretched my hands and legs, a tired yawn escaping my lips.

I picked up my jacket and draped it around my body before handing my bag around my shoulders then locked up and exited the office building.

I walked back to the pack house, my strides slow and relaxed.

But as I got to the front of the pack house, my heart began to beat heavily.

The usually bubbly, almost loud pack house was quiet.

And I didn't encounter anyone throughout my walk back to the main house.

Weird.

I slipped my hand into my bag and pulled out a pepper spray. Before walking into the main house and heading for the east swing.

As I got closer, the sound of music and the dim flashing lights hit me.

I saw someone, a she-wolf coming out of the living room with a bottle of liquor in hand.

My eyes widened and I rushed up to her.

''W—What are you doing in the east wing? Do you want to get punished by the alpha?!'' I shouted, my voice shaky.

She stared at me for a long while, her eyes droopy and wandering like she had no idea who I was.

Then she murmured, ''Who cares?'' Then shoved me aside.

My eyes widened as I struggled to gain my footing, my body trembling.

Who the hell let this—

I paused, seeing multiple people coming in and out of the living room.

I stepped in and my eyes widened at the sight.

Disco lights hung high up the cieling while loud music reverberated around the room.

But worst part, every single youth in the pack was present, swaying their asses, getting drunk, having sex, fighting! What the fuck was going on?

My eyes drifted around the room until it stopped on the couch.

Some girl was jumping up and down my couch with her shoes still worn.

My eyes widened in shock and I walked up to her in quick strides. ''Get down from my couch!'' I shouted, trying to pull her down.

But she could barely hear me through the sound of the music. Nobody could. And she was just way too strong to be pushed away.

I let go of her and marched towards the triplets room after searching around for them for what felt like decades.

All they'd done since they came into the pack was cause trouble!

I finally found them in Maddox room, helping each other with their cuff links.

Immediately they sighted me, a sly smile curled up each of their lips.

''Don't tell me you're here to welcome us too?'' Maddox spoke, his voice riddled with boredom.

''Well she just spoilt the surprise.'' Cassian uttered, a defeated look in his face.

My face twisted, my brow raised in questions. What where they talking about?

''You shouldn't be seeing our outfits till we show it to everyone.'' Rhys responded, answering my question.

''I don't care! Why are all the pack members in my living room?!'' I barked, my face turning purple from anger.

''Woahhh…pipe down, Vivi. It's our welcome party.'' Cassian muttered, showing his perkily white teeth.

''Welcome party? Who the hell told you guys you could have a welcome party?'' I shot back, pressing my hand to my waist.

The door slammed open and the hoarse voice I knew all too well bloomed. ''I did.''
