Synopsis
In a quiet Japanese town in 1969, Takumi Aoyama, a reserved high school boy, meets Hana Fujisaki, a spirited new transfer with a love for tulips and laughter. Under a blazing flame tree, their friendship blossoms into a love that promises eternity. But life is fragile: civil unrest, the shadow of war, and tragedy test the strength of their bond. Through miscarriages, illness, and the relentless erasure of memory by Alzheimer’s, Takumi and Hana cling to one another, tethered by a vow: “If everything ends and the world begins again… my hands will still search for yours.” Decades later, their souls are reborn. In modern Tokyo, Haruto Aoyama and Yui Fujisaki encounter one another beneath the same crimson flame tree. Drawn together by a pull neither fully understands, they must navigate the tension of past-life memories, a gentle love triangle with Yui’s current boyfriend, and the haunting echoes of their previous lives. Through rediscovery, the planting of tulips, and the quiet certainty of hearts that remember beyond memory, they learn that some connections survive death, time, and forgetting. “731 Days Beneath the Flame Tree” is a lyrical, heart-stirring tale of love that spans lifetimes, the courage to wait, and the enduring magic of finding one’s soulmate again and finally, keeping them.

Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

Winter, Room 412

Snow pressed softly against the hospital window.

Takumi Aoyama sat beside the bed, hands folded around fingers that had grown thin with time.

Hana Fujisaki's breathing was fragile.

For months, Alzheimer's had dimmed her world.

But tonight

Her eyes were clear.

"Takumi," she whispered.

He leaned close.

"Yes. I'm here."

She searched his face like she had done at seventeen.

"If everything ends," she murmured, "and the world begins again… will your hands still search for mine?"

His throat tightened.

"They were made to," he answered.

Her lips curved faintly.

Outside, snow fell.

And memory opened.
