Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Change Alpha Jutsu!

"What did you do to the Alpha?!" Luke stood up and demanded, a faint green light glowing in his eyes.

As a member of the pack, although Luke was wary of Shane's unpredictable and ghostly methods, he had to step up!

The way of the wolf pack was unity. In a moment like this, he couldn't stay on the sidelines. Especially since he was the one who invited Shane here—he couldn't just do nothing.

"I simply let him see the fear hidden deep in his heart, allowing him to recognize his true self. A true warrior dares to face a bleak life, dares to look straight at dripping blood."

"He fears that one day you will drive him from his throne. He fears the battle and bloodshed of being besieged by you. He even fears an opponent like me, daring not to look me in the eye. Is such an Alpha worthy of my respect? Is he worthy of yours?"

"He... is broken!"

Luke opened his mouth but couldn't find the words.

The restaurant was dead silent. Only Theo's heavy breathing—whether from fear or anger—was clearly audible.

Werewolves are united, combative, and inherently competitive. Most fear no death and dare to fight to the end.

Even if they lose, even if they die, they will never shrink back.

If a pack's leader is cowardly and weak, unable to lead the pack to a better future, the werewolves within the pack will challenge his position. Killing the former Alpha makes one the new Alpha.

The way the werewolves in the restaurant looked at Theo changed. Originally, they were worried, sharing a common hatred and wanting to avenge their Alpha, wanting to make Shane pay.

But now, Shane's words had shifted their mindset.

Is an Alpha who fears being overthrown by his own pack truly qualified to continue leading?

Is an Alpha who begs his own pack for mercy truly a warrior?

Just seeing his greatest fear in a vision made him lose the courage to even look an enemy in the eye. Such an Alpha, such a Theo... is he really worthy of respect?

No. He is no longer qualified to be Alpha. In fact... he has become a disgrace to the wolf pack.

If news got out today that the Wolf Alpha was terrified by an enemy's trick without even exchanging a blow, to the point of not daring to make eye contact, their pack would lose all face.

Two choices.

Either kill Shane and Olivia, the two outsiders. Or kill Theo and choose a new Alpha!

Werewolves come in many varieties. Not all are mindless beasts who can't think. At least this pack in the restaurant wasn't; they realized this point.

However, each werewolf had different thoughts.

Only one or two looked at Shane with hostility—those who were personally close to Theo. The rest, almost all of them, turned their gaze to Theo.

It was obvious. They had chosen to select a new Alpha for the pack!

"What do you think you're doing?!" Theo roared, feigning ferocity, trying to use his past authority to scare them down and dispel their eager thoughts.

Unfortunately, today was not yesterday.

Having witnessed his defeat with their own eyes, having seen his cowardice and weakness, Theo's prestige was long gone. Such a roaring warning didn't make anyone fear him; instead, it only proved he was tough on the outside but brittle on the inside.

"Awoo~~~"

Suddenly, a man began to change. His strong body hunched over, fur sprouting rapidly all over his body. Finally, with a leap, he transformed into a grey wolf with four legs on the ground, baring sharp fangs and claws.

"Awoo~~~"

"Awoo~~~"

Howls rose one after another.

In an instant, everyone except Luke transformed. This included the Alpha, Theo.

The slaughter began without warning.

Most of the werewolves lunged at Theo almost simultaneously. A few tried to block them and help Theo, but they were outnumbered and could only hold back a few. The rest began to besiege Theo.

It had to be said, Theo had some skills to become the Alpha. Even though he was distracted, worried that the hallucination would become reality, his strength was still formidable.

Opening his jaws, his sharp teeth instantly tore open a wolf's neck. Then he flung the body forcefully at the other enemies, blocking them for a moment.

Seizing this opportunity, Theo leaped onto a dining table, kicked off with his hind legs, and smashed through the window glass, jumping out amidst the sound of shattering shards.

Seeing this, the other werewolves either jumped out the window or turned to rush out the main door, chasing after him relentlessly.

Wind blew in through the broken window, carrying the faint smell of blood that gradually permeated the room.

Broken windows. A grey wolf lying on the ground twitching and whimpering softly. The restaurant was quiet, the atmosphere indescribably eerie.

"W-what happened? Did enemies come here to cause trouble?"

An elderly man who looked quite old walked out of the kitchen carrying a tray. Seeing the messy scene outside and the injured pack member, he asked Luke tremblingly.

"No enemies. The pack... the sky is changing." Luke looked at Shane with a complicated expression, stood up, took the tray from the old man's hands, and placed it on the table.

"Eat. After you eat, leave."

"Why?"

"I'm afraid."

"A few words. Just a few words, and you made our wolf pack change its Alpha. I'm afraid if you keep talking, the pack won't just change Alphas—it might be exterminated by you."

"Saying that makes it boring. You're afraid? I believe you might feel fear, but I don't believe you'd be so scared you wouldn't even dare to bare your teeth like that Alpha. Trust me, I have a pretty good eye for people. Not everyone can make me actively want to be friends."
