Shun made his way back home.
According to the timeline, Fire Mountain would soon erupt in uncontrollable flames, burning everything on it to ash. He didn't care about the mountain itself—but the treasure hidden there would greatly simplify their lives if saved.
The moment he arrived, he went straight to Gyūmaō.
"Hey, Shun! You're back already?" Gyūmaō laughed. "I was just about to take Chi-Chi out for a picnic. Come with us!"
Shun shook his head seriously.
"Old man, the mountain is about to be completely engulfed in flames. We need to leave immediately. If we don't, something could happen to us—or worse, to Chi-Chi."
Gyūmaō was startled, but he immediately rejected the idea.
"No way! It's not that bad. And what about my treasure? Some of it is worth over 100 billion Zeni! I can't just leave it behind!"
Shun sighed, then flicked a coin into his shadow.
The coin vanished.
He turned to Gyūmaō and said calmly,
"Old man, I recently developed an ability that lets me store things inside my shadow."
"We can hide your treasure there and leave the mountain. Everyone will assume it was destroyed when the mountain burned down."
Gyūmaō stared at him.
He had seen many unbelievable things as a former disciple of Master Roshi, so he didn't panic—but he was deeply shocked.
A child this young, with such talent… and one who trained every single day.
This boy clearly had a great future ahead of him.
After a moment, Gyūmaō nodded.
"Alright. Store everything in your shadow."
"Tomorrow, we'll buy a new place to live."
Shun nodded and immediately followed Gyūmaō to the treasure vault.
Inside was a literal mountain of gold, jewels, and priceless artifacts.
Since Shun couldn't yet expand his shadow over a large area, he had to walk back and forth repeatedly, storing the treasure piece by piece.
It took until evening.
Chi-Chi watched the entire process with wide eyes, quietly wondering if she would be able to do something like that one day too.
The next day, they moved.
On Shun's recommendation, they bought a new home in a village located in East District 439—the same location as in the original timeline.
To keep things simple, Shun chose familiarity.
Unlike the original small house, this one was a large estate.
Two bathrooms.A spacious kitchen.Six individual bedrooms.
Once the furniture was arranged, Shun approached Gyūmaō.
"Old man, I'll be leaving again for a few days. Don't wait for me."
"I hid the treasure in the basement—no one will come looking for it."
"I took a little with me. I don't know if I'll be gone for one week… or two."
Gyūmaō knew Shun would continue his journey to gather the remaining Dragon Balls.
He didn't stop him—but he did warn him.
"Shun… I'll be waiting for you."
"And Chi-Chi needs her big brother."
"So take care of yourself."
Shun promised he would.
That same evening, he set out to collect the remaining four Dragon Balls.
The last one was with Son Gohan—so he planned to retrieve that one last.
One Week Later
In the desert, Shun collected his sixth Dragon Ball.
The journey had been long and dangerous, requiring constant vigilance—but in the end, he succeeded.
It seemed that the Dragon Ball belonging to Pilaf and his gang had not yet been found.
With that settled, Shun set his sights on Son Gohan.
He dropped the Dragon Ball into his shadow and checked his map.
Then he headed toward the East District, deep into the mountains where Gohan and Goku lived.
Two Days Later
As Shun climbed the forested mountain path, he glanced at his map—
—and then looked up.
An elderly man was practicing martial movements nearby. He stopped the moment he noticed Shun.
The man wore a green head covering and had a long, thick white mustache. His eyes were kind and grandfatherly.
He spoke gently.
"What brings you here, little one? This area is dangerous for a boy your age."
Shun looked up at him. The old man was slightly taller.
"I live nearby. I'm looking for a man named Son Gohan."
"My name is Shun."
The old man studied him briefly, then smiled.
"Well then, young Shun… I am Son Gohan."
"Why don't you come inside and sit down?"
Shun followed him into the house.
Inside, he saw a two-year-old child with a tail.
The child immediately jumped toward Shun.
Shun caught him easily and laughed.
"Whoa there, little guy! Be careful—you'll hurt yourself jumping around like that."
Gohan chuckled.
"I found little Goku alone in the forest. He had been abandoned."
"So far, he's only spoken to me… but I think he likes you."
Shun looked at the child in his arms.
Of course… this is Goku.
He's so small… so innocent.
It makes me sad knowing how heavy his destiny will be.
Shun smiled and played with him.
"Call me Brother Shun."
"Bro—ther Shun."
Goku smacked Shun on the head with his tail.
"Bwother Shun!"
"Hahaha! See, Grandpa Gohan? He called me Brother Shun!"
Gohan smiled warmly.
He was happy that Goku had someone close to his own age.
Then his expression turned serious.
"Shun, I'm glad you came… but may I ask your reason for being here?"
Shun nodded.
"Yes. I'd like to borrow something from you."
He pulled a Dragon Ball from his shadow.
"There are seven of these."
"I already have six."
"Could you lend me the one you have here? I promise I'll return it when I'm done."
Son Gohan smiled without hesitation.
He retrieved the Dragon Ball and handed it to Shun.
He then asked Shun to stay the night.
Shun agreed.
They ate dinner together, and Shun even trained with Gohan.
He told him that he was Gyūmaō's adopted son and that his family had recently moved nearby.
Gohan was surprised—and genuinely happy to hear news of his old friend.
From that moment on, Gohan felt certain that Shun and Goku shared a special bond.
The next morning, as Shun prepared to leave, he promised Grandpa Gohan that he would visit again with his family.
Standing before him, Shun let the final Dragon Ball fall into his shadow.
He turned to leave—
—but suddenly, something went wrong.
Inside his shadow, the Dragon Balls began to glow.
A powerful, ancient energy surged as all seven resonated together.
Beside them… a box appeared.
The Mother Box.
Something activated.
Before Shun could react, his shadow began pulling him in.
Grandpa Gohan's eyes widened in panic.
"SHUUUN!!"
Shun looked back at him seriously and shouted:
"GRANDPA GOHAN—TELL MY FATHER I'LL COME BACK SAFELY!"
"SOMETHING IS HAPPENING—I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS!"
In the next instant—
Shun was swallowed by his shadow.
