Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

The sun shown brightly on her face while she forces her eyes to open. She barely got enough sleep. She had been thinking, thinking too much. Her mother had warned her to stop imagining things. He won't come looking for her anymore but she couldn't flush off the thought. She knew that one day for sure he would come for her.

Noah walks briskly to the dinning room for breakfast. And overhears her mother talking to the maids. "Make sure the house is all in order before we return, a'ight?."

"YES MADAM." the maids replied in unison.

"What's the occasion mother?." Noah asks.

"Oh dear, you're finally awake. Well…there's a function today and since your father…" "…stepfather" Noah corrected.

"Yess… stepfather is a renowned merchant here in Winchester, we are all officially invited. Which means, you'll need you a dress." She says and walks off.

Her mother loves all these kinds of things. The attention, the status, the money, the love. Yeah, the love. She was happy her mother finally found that love though.

Even though she knew.

After breakfast, Blackwood and Celine are seen already dressed for the function. And Micheal was fully dressed also. Noah walks down the staircase like a whisper of spring wrapped in silk. She wore a blush satin ball gown that shimmered softly beneath the chandeliers. The bodice was trimmed with delicate ivory lace and tiny seed pearls, while a rose-colored sash cinched her waist in a graceful bow. Layers of light tulle and silk fanned out into a flowing skirt that swayed with every step, giving her the fragile elegance of a blossom in full bloom. Micheal caught a glimpse of how dazzling Noah was looking and couldn't deny how beautiful she looked. He lent her a hand to get down from the stairs. "Did not know money can trash look this good." Micheal shamefully admitted even though it wasn't truthful.

"That's no way to talk to a lady." Noah simply added.

The got on their carriages Noah had to ride with Micheal while her mother rode with Blackwood. They got to the function and it was such a sight. It was held at the castle of wanderfield in Winchester. Although Noah didn't know exactly what the function was about she was bound to enjoy herself to the fullest. She took a few drinks from the servants serving drinks and sweets. Not minding her limits. She sees Micheal flirting with some maidens from some rich families she could not point out properly but she knew they were rich people.

Hmph. What a playboy.

"Well… hello there beautiful." A young man who she recognized as one of the few from the garden earlier.

"Hello."

 She replied reluctantly.

"I hear you're Micheal's new sister. Cute innit?."

"I don't know if I should call it sweet or sour." Noah simply said.

"Micheal is a good guy, he just has a little mummy issues, but he's a good guy when you've come to know him." Micheal's friend , Jeffery added.

"Oh."

Jeffery left Noah in her daze. She kept looking at the direction where Micheal was, how he was flirting with the girls that flunked around him.

He didn't like playboys at all. Always gave her the irk.

Still I'm her daze, Micheal grabs her hand.

Shocked she asks. "What do you think you're doing?." Although flustered by the gesture.

"It's past curfew. Father said to take you home." He bluntly says and drags her away from the ball hall.

In the carriage, the atmosphere is somewhat too quiet and Noah feels the tension and decides to break the silence.

"I hear you own your own business and can even earn your keep. Quite impressed for a rich merchant's kid."

"I wonder where you heard that. But yes, it is true. I do earn my keep, but that doesn't mean I can tolerate disrespect from peasants like yourself." Micheal said with a grin. Noah was done with the conversation. She had heard enough of the class differentiation.

" I see you've lost your voice. No more comebacks?." He chuckled.

"Men like you don't deserve the women that come into your lives. I guess that's why your mother had to leave." Noah angrily said not minding how she said it or how it's sounded.

The carriage abruptly stops.

"Get out!" Micheal yelled.

His face has turned red with anger.

"What?!" Noah innocently asked. Finally realizing how serious he is and how her words had hurt him.

"I said you should get out!." The feta and shock made Noah you drop down from the carriage without looking where she was.

Micheal asked the rider to keep going.

Leaving her in the middle of where she did not know.
