Chapter 143 - Chapter 143 Ambiguous Night

"Look at the ice cream, not me. If you want more, just buy another one." Tatsumaki felt a bit shy under Allen's aggressive gaze. She handed him the ice cream she was holding.

"Eat it, I'm not hungry." Allen shook his head, but his gaze involuntarily fell on Tatsumaki's slender neck. Her skin glowed like pearls in the moonlight, her veins faintly visible, emitting an alluring scent.

Tatsumaki looked at him suspiciously, her small tongue gently licking the tip of the ice cream: "You're not plotting something bad, are you?"

"How could I be?" Allen forced himself to look away, his Adam's apple unconsciously bobbing: "I just find it more interesting to watch you eat."

"Pervert!" Tatsumaki's ear tips instantly turned red, her green curly hair swayed violently, but her hands didn't stop, and she took another big bite of ice cream.

Allen watched the cream on the corner of her mouth and, as if possessed, reached out to wipe it off for her. Tatsumaki immediately recoiled like a startled rabbit: "What are you doing?!"

"You have cream on your face," he said calmly, as if his action just now was the most natural thing.

Tatsumaki froze in place, her cheeks visibly reddening, even her earlobes were flushed. She frantically wiped her mouth with her sleeve, her green eyes wide: "Don't, don't meddle!"

"Sorry." Allen withdrew his hand, but his eyes held a smile, "It was just a reflex…"

"Shut up!" Tatsumaki glared at him fiercely.

She floated away, huffing, taking small bites of her ice cream, occasionally stealing glances at Allen. Only when she saw him obediently standing still did she relax a little.

The night wind blew, stirring her green curly hair. Allen suddenly felt that Tatsumaki like this was much more lively than her usual overbearing self.

"Hey." Tatsumaki suddenly spoke, her voice softer than usual, "Are you really just here to buy ice cream?"

Allen nodded: "Yes, didn't you say you wanted some earlier today?"

Matsuge trembled slightly, and a complex emotion flickered in her green eyes. She floated in front of Allen, looking up into his eyes: "Why did you use Psychokinesis to hypnotize me?"

"Me?" Allen showed a perfectly timed confused expression: "I just wanted you to sleep more soundly."

Tatsumaki's green curly hair subtly swayed, her small hand unconsciously clutching the ice cream tighter: "Liar! You clearly wanted to sneak out!"

"Alright." Allen sighed, "I admit, I was afraid you wouldn't agree to me coming out to buy ice cream."

Tatsumaki narrowed her eyes suspiciously, her green eyes looking exceptionally bright in the moonlight: "Just for that?"

"Yes, just for that." Allen nodded, pointing to the ice cream in her hand.

Tatsumaki stared at Allen for a long time, then suddenly shoved the rest of the ice cream into her mouth, making her head shiver from the cold: "Idiot! Don't do that again next time, you can't go too far from me."

"Okay, I won't leave you." Allen nodded.

Hearing Allen's reply, Tatsumaki's green curly hair subtly swayed, her ear tips unconsciously flushed. She turned her face away, her voice softer than usual: "Hmph, good for you for being sensible."

The night wind swept through the commercial street, neon lights reflecting on the two of them. Tatsumaki floated in the air, secretly glancing at Allen beside her, finding him staring blankly at the distant night view.

"Hey, Rookie." Tatsumaki suddenly spoke, a hint of undetectable nervousness in her voice, "You really won't leave me?"

Allen withdrew his gaze and turned to look at her: "Yes, I'll always be with you."

This simple answer made Tatsumaki's heart suddenly race. She frantically floated higher, her green curly hair swaying violently: "Who, who asked you that! I meant you're not allowed to leave my sight! Don't be so self-important!"

"I know." Allen's lips curved slightly, "I'll always stay within your line of sight."

Tatsumaki's ear tips grew even redder. She spun around abruptly: "Idiot! Don't say things like that so casually!"

Allen watched her bristling, his lips curving slightly: "I'm just telling the truth."

"Shut up!" Tatsumaki's green curly hair swayed violently, her small hands clutching the hem of her clothes, "Come back with me right now!"

She grabbed Allen's wrist, and green energy instantly enveloped them both, lifting them into the air. The night wind whistled past, and Allen could clearly feel the warmth from Tatsumaki's fingertips.

"Tatsumaki, you're holding too tight," Allen gently reminded her.

"Mind your own business!" Tatsumaki said, but her grip loosened a bit, though she still held his wrist firmly, "Say another word and I'll throw you down."

After returning to the apartment, Tatsumaki immediately let go and floated to the window, pulling the curtains tightly shut. Her back to Allen, her green curly hair trembled slightly: "Don't tell anyone about tonight."

"Okay." Allen nodded, his gaze falling on her tense shoulders, "Are you still angry?"

"Who's angry?!" Tatsumaki turned abruptly, her green eyes wide, "I just, I just…"

Her voice suddenly caught, her small face flushed crimson. Allen slowly stepped forward, stopping one step away from her: "Just what?"

The moonlight was blocked by the curtains, and in the dim room, they could only vaguely see each other's outlines, trying to see clearly but always separated by a veil.

Tatsumaki's breathing clearly quickened a few beats. She turned her face away: "I just think you're too much trouble! I'm going to sleep."

She floated back to her room and lay on the bed. Moonlight draped a silver veil over her petite body. Allen stood motionless in the dim living room. The moon's position hadn't changed, a silver line still dividing the room into two worlds.

Silence spread through the room.

"Hey, Rookie." Tatsumaki suddenly spoke, her voice much softer than usual: "Are you asleep?"

Allen lay on the living room floor, opening his eyes at her words: "Not yet."

"I can't sleep." Tatsumaki rolled over, her green curly hair fanning out on the pillow: "Come over and chat with me for a bit, okay?"

Allen got up and walked to the bedside. In the moonlight, Tatsumaki's eyes were sparkling, as if filled with water. He noticed her fingers nervously gripping the bedsheet; her heart was also not calm.

"About what?" Allen sat in a place where the moonlight didn't reach, deliberately maintaining a distance from Tatsumaki.
