"How'd the surgery go?"
The moment Jovian stepped into the lab, he asked Dr. Genus and Jack, who were taking a breather.
"It went very well. Mark should wake up in a few days," Dr. Genus said.
"Good…"
"Get yourselves ready. Once I finish cleaning up the problems in your world, Dr. Genus, we start our plan."
Jovian looked at Dr. Genus, making it clear he was about to head to the One-Punch world.
"Jovian—before you leave, there's something I have to report."
Dr. Genus, who'd been scrolling on a tablet while sipping coffee, set the cup down and walked over with the tablet in hand.
"What is it?" Jovian asked, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"Look at this."
Dr. Genus held the tablet up. On-screen was an image of a spaceship.
"A spaceship?"
Jovian stared at it, not seeing what was so special about a seemingly ordinary vessel that warranted a report.
"Yes. It's a spaceship. My satellite picked this up in space—it's currently at the edge of the solar system, and it's moving toward Earth."
Dr. Genus explained why he was showing him the image.
"How long until it reaches Earth?"
Jovian frowned. He didn't remember any spaceship arriving around this time.
"Based on my calculations, if it maintains its current speed, it will reach Earth in about an hour. Here are the numbers—please take a look."
Dr. Genus presented the data he'd derived and handed it over.
"Mm."
Jovian glanced at it casually, then tossed it aside.
"Have you contacted the ship? Do we know why it's coming?"
He wanted to confirm the intent behind this sudden arrival.
"I tried. But I'm afraid they're not coming peacefully."
Dr. Genus nodded. He had attempted contact—but it clearly failed, and the situation looked grim.
"What exactly happened?"
Jovian wanted to hear the exchange. From that, he could decide what attitude to take toward the incoming ship.
"I dispatched four Armored Gorilla clones equipped for spaceflight, hoping to open friendly communications. Unfortunately, they were blown into scrap with a single shot. Based on that, my preliminary judgment is that the visitors are hostile."
Dr. Genus laid out the entire encounter and the conclusion he drew from it.
"Got it. If they attacked first, then that's enough to tell me their intentions aren't clean. They aren't approaching Earth with goodwill."
"So there's no reason to keep talking."
"We destroy them."
Jovian's gaze sharpened.
"The weapon I told you to develop for me— is it ready?"
"It's been ready. It was finished a long time ago."
At the mention of "weapon," Dr. Genus actually smiled, clearly satisfied with his work.
"Come with me."
He led Jovian to a massive machine.
Its design was strange: the upper half was embedded into the wall, like it ran all the way up into the ceiling. Below it sat an operating console, and in front were two recessed grooves shaped like something you'd place your eyes into. It looked almost playful—if you ignored how ominous it felt.
"Let me try."
Jovian stepped up to the machine.
"First, align your eyes with the grooves. Then use the Moonlight Telescope to aim at the target," Dr. Genus instructed.
"Alright. Adjusting range… okay. I've locked onto the target."
Through the machine, Jovian could clearly see a huge spaceship out in deep space.
"Now that you have a lock, use your laser vision on the instrument. This machine will continuously amplify your laser vision's output and project it into space—destroying any enemy within the solar system!"
Dr. Genus explained the function.
"Alright. Let's test it…"
Jovian's eyes flared crimson.
A split second later, two scorching beams poured straight into the machine.
High above the Guardians of the Globe headquarters, a strange cannon-like device stood on the roof. The instant Jovian's energy surged, the previously motionless instrument snapped into position, swiveling toward space—then fired a blood-red beam that looked like it could rip the heavens open.
"The cannon has fired!"
"But the target is still too far. So far, it hasn't hit them yet."
Jack checked the readouts and shook his head at Jovian.
"No rush. Let the cannon fly a little longer…"
Jovian kept feeding power into the system without pause. He didn't lack energy—this was nothing.
Out in space…
A slightly ornate spaceship drifted through the void, moving toward Earth at an unhurried pace.
"No… why did you have to die?"
Inside the ship's main cabin, an alien woman with brown skin and crimson eyes looked devastated.
"I loved you…"
In her hand was a holographic 3D recording device, and the flickering image inside was Battle Beast.
"I'll avenge you!"
She clenched her fist. She intended to revenge the one she loved—tear apart the "natives" who had used vile tricks to defeat Battle Beast.
Why was she so certain Battle Beast's death had to be the result of cowardly scheming?
There was only one reason.
In her mind, Battle Beast was invincible—an existence that could never lose in direct combat.
"Report! This is bad—an anomalous energy weapon is approaching us at high speed!"
As grief swallowed her, an armored soldier rushed to her and reported.
"What?"
"Evade it!"
She frowned and gave the order.
"We've been locked. Please take an escape pod and leave immediately!"
The soldier reported their situation.
"I'm not leaving!"
"I'm going to avenge Battle Beast!"
Consumed by rage and revenge, she bared a mouthful of sharp teeth as she snarled.
"B-but—"
The soldier didn't even get to finish.
An endless red light flashed through the void, slicing the entire ship cleanly in half. In an instant, the ship's air exploded outward into the vacuum, dragging countless alien soldiers with it—throwing them into the cold embrace of space.
"You may not understand…"
"…but Earth isn't a place you get to invade."
As the aliens floated and struggled in the vacuum, a voice spoke directly into their minds.
