Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Completion of Extremis

"Is this considered finished?"

"Yes, Artoria."

Looking at the Extremis that looked like plain water, Artoria glanced at the confident Maya. This was a bit different from what she had imagined. Shouldn't this stuff look like red liquid from a volcanic eruption, with bubbles popping? Why was it so clear? Artoria looked at Maya in confusion, asking for an explanation.

"This is the Regeneration One completed according to your requirements, okay!"

"I've found the problem with the occasional explosions from before. I spent a lot of time on calculations to finish this. Based on that, I've thought of many optimized versions."

"Such as?"

Seeing Maya prepare for a long speech, Artoria interrupted her with a headache. Right now, Artoria only wanted to know if this thing's regenerative ability was as powerful as in the original story; that was the most important point. Another point was the side effect of exploding. From what Maya said, that should have been perfectly resolved, otherwise she wouldn't have been so eager to find her, but she still wanted to know if there were other side effects.

"For example, making hair grow back?"

Maya said to Artoria with a grin.

Slap!

"Ow!"

A very elastic sound echoed in the laboratory. The surrounding assistants had no intention of looking over; they were all busy with their own work. Meanwhile, the head of the office was now lying on the ground clutching one side of her butt, throwing a tantrum like a child who didn't get candy.

"If you keep acting like this, I'll really hit you! My hits hurt a lot."

With an expressionless face, Artoria waved her right hand at the crazy woman on the floor, as if she wasn't the one who just hit her. But who would want their hard work to turn into something that can only grow hair?

"That was so heavy-handed! I feel like my butt is swollen!"

Realizing she had gone a bit too far with the joke, Maya quickly stood up while clutching her butt, straightened her clothes, and briefly explained her results.

"It's alright, then. This thing doesn't have any major side effects, right?"

Picking up the finished product from the table, Artoria voiced her final doubt.

"After repair, it requires a large intake of energy. Once the repair is complete, one will be very tired, similar to having run a marathon."

Hearing this answer, Artoria nodded in satisfaction.

"What effect would it have if diluted by more than ten times?"

"Grow hair?"

"Just kidding."

Seeing Artoria's right hand about to lift again, Maya grabbed Artoria's right arm to show she was joking. Then, she quickly operated the keyboard, and a set of data appeared before Artoria.

"Diluted more than ten times, mass production shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"On that point..."

"Then let's have a limited release!"

Stopping Maya's words, Artoria also understood the impact such a potion would have on the current world. But Artoria still decided to release it. She couldn't guarantee whether this was the comic Marvel, but she hoped that within a year, more people would have something to protect themselves with when facing the future Battle of New York. If it really was the comic version, the Battle of New York would be more than ten times more tragic than the movie version. As for the subsequent trouble—sorry, with power and money, one really can do whatever they want here.

"Alright, I'll arrange it right away!"

Hearing Artoria's command, Maya didn't hesitate and began to get to work. Artoria didn't immediately find Tony for an injection; now wasn't the time. Besides, Tony had been quite normal lately, not causing any specific trouble, and didn't seem poisoned for the time being. He even had a very happy party yesterday and got drunk; he's probably still hungover now.

"Natasha resigned. I figured she wouldn't stay here long, but this was too fast! It hasn't even been a month. Forget it, I won't pay the salary then. Should I look for another assistant from below?"

Walking out of the laboratory, Artoria slowly walked toward her office while thinking about other things. But how could one not encounter accidents while walking and thinking? Artoria's intuition told her she needed to dodge. The next moment, a figure rushed past Artoria in a panic. With Artoria's vision, she could clearly see it was a pretty young girl, but looking at her expression, she must have tripped. Artoria's body subconsciously reached out, catching the falling girl in her arms. The posture between the two was unusually intimate.

"Ah! Sorry to disturb you."

This scene was seen by Hope, who had just walked over. She gave Artoria a suggestive look and ran away with a smile. Artoria felt things were about to go bad; it seemed she had been misunderstood.

"Can you stand up?"

She said to the blushing young girl in her arms.

"I'm sorry, I just started working here and I'm not quite used to the environment."

The pretty young woman stood up flustered and thanked Artoria.

"Alright, be more careful next time."

Without waiting for the young woman to say anything, Artoria quickly left, because she saw the name 'Gwen Stacy' written on the other party's nametag. Back in her office, Artoria had Saturday quickly look up this person's employment information and found that she had a police Director for a father. This confirmed it.

"The female lead ran over here. It's chaos! Complete chaos."
