Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14

Because Emris was his prey.

Ava knew Czar was hiding something, but she couldn't uncover what it was.

As for the house where Elaya and Ava lived—no one knew about it. Not even Czar. Both Czar and Emris had sent people to stalk Elaya and Ava, but they were clever enough to dodge anyone who followed them. Whenever they returned home from work, they used unique lanes and routes so that no one could trace them.

The only weak information circulating was that Czar and Emris were enemies, and that Emris had died in a sudden accident—an accident planned so perfectly by Emris's father that everyone believed Emris was dead.

Emris, Elaya, and Ava searched for information about him from every possible weak point. They went from place to place, digging deeper.

Finally, they discovered that Lia had connections with Emris.

And who revealed this truth?

Karen's daughter.

She said that one day, when she was alone at home, a man came to her and handed her a paper letter. She told Karen about it, and Karen later forwarded it to Ava—when Ava was at Czar's police station.

She said that a man came to her when she was alone in the house and handed her a paper letter. She told Karen about it, and Karen later forwarded it to Ava when Ava was at Czar's police station.

Ava was reading the letter. Her expression slowly turned sad, her fingers gripping the paper tightly as her eyes moved from the top of the letter to the bottom. Czar sat across from her, watching every shift in her expression—one leg resting over the other, arms crossed against his chest.

Ava closed the letter and sighed softly, biting her lower lip. Her eyebrows lifted slightly, and without saying a single word, she handed the letter to Czar. Just then, Karen received a call.

"I'll excuse myself," Karen broke the silence, glancing at the number flashing on his phone. He looked at Ava, and she nodded.

"Give me your address," Ava said in a cold tone. "We need to talk more."

Karen pressed his lips together, nodded once, and glanced at Czar. Czar raised one eyebrow and gave a slow nod, a thought forming in his mind—something is wrong.

Karen left.

Czar's eyes immediately fell on the handwriting.

Yes.

It was Lia's.

The same—exactly the same. Every alphabet, every curve, every space between words. He knew her handwriting too well. He knew how she wrote when she was in a hurry, when she was tired, when she was calm, happy, or broken.

Czar stood up abruptly. His hands clenched the letter tightly, his teeth grinding together. His expression shifted from fury to unbearable sadness. A single tear slid down his cheek as his hands began to tremble.

It felt as if promises had been shattered. As if the world had been crushed into tiny rocks. As if the world where he had placed Lia so carefully had cracked open.

A crack that was never meant to be filled—because its shape was too unusual. No stone could ever fit there.

He crushed the paper between his hands and dropped back into his chair. Ava sighed quietly and left the room, closing the door behind her.

Now, Czar was alone.

Moments flashed before his eyes as if they were happening all over again—right in front of him.

He slowly slid down and sat on the floor, his back against the chair, rereading every word of the letter in his mind. Again and again. He had memorized it in a single glance.

The time was good when we were close, but I never valued you. Even when I tried hard not to fall in love with you, I failed day by day. After some days, I was planning to give you this letter… but maybe I won't be there.

I don't know. I feel like I will soon leave everything. This sudden feeling is strange, yet peaceful—because I will no longer have to carry the burden of knowing that what I did to you was wrong.

For the first three years, I fooled you completely—from top to bottom. I stayed as if you meant forever to me, but I was faking everything. Faking love. Faking feelings. Faking every promise, every sweet word, every meeting.

It was all a strategy—Emris and I planned it together. A plan to destroy you. To destroy your hopes. To destroy your life.

I'm sorry.

But I swear, for the last two years, I actually started liking you. I wanted to tell you everything myself. I promise, Czar.

I loved you. I truly do. Because now I know how wrong I was and how deeply I hurt you.

I accept everything. The five years we spent together mean a lot to me. I truly appreciate those days, and I thank you from the core of my heart.

I feel miserable knowing I hurt you so badly. I've done something that cannot be forgiven—and I don't ask you to forgive me. I know this is something no one can forgive.

Emris is planning something—something even I don't know, something I'm unable to understand. Even the necklace I wear was given by him. I still wear it because I can't betray him. I loved and trusted him like a madwoman.

I am a villain too—just with a different face.

Five years… for the first three, I betrayed you completely. For the next two, I hated myself and slowly started falling for you.

I thought I would enjoy ruining you—and for those three years, I did. I met Emris when you were busy with your job, trying to make me happy, proposing to me, taking me on dates, party nights.

You helped me in every problem—especially when Emris turned his back on me. Yet I never saw him as wrong.

Now, I can't say anything else because that 'else' you won't be able to bear—

Fi amanillah.

30 March.
