Chapter 42 - 042 Blanche's Attack

A heavy, stifling atmosphere hung over First High School. Only a few students with particularly keen instincts noticed the clandestine movements of the Public Morals Committee and the Club Management Group.

One of them was Saijou Leonhard. Leo hadn't just sensed the shift in the air; he had proactively volunteered to join the operation.

Without hesitation, he went straight to Juumonji Katsuto to request permission. Perhaps recognizing the raw potential within Leo's sturdy frame, Katsuto granted him leave to move alongside the members of the Club Management Group.

Then there was Erika. As a daughter of the prestigious Chiba clan, there was no way she could remain a bystander in the face of such trouble. She contacted Mari immediately, demanding to be included with the Public Morals Committee.

Mari's initial reaction was a firm refusal—until Tatsuya intervened.

'You're well aware of Erika's capabilities,' Tatsuya noted calmly. 'So, why refuse her help?'

'Ugh...' Mari found herself speechless. Unable to counter his logic, she was forced to reluctantly agree to Erika's involvement.

'Hehe...' Erika flashed a triumphant grin, shooting a playful, sidelong glance at Mari.

Mari opened her mouth to snap back, but the words caught in her throat before she swallowed them down. She couldn't exactly be blunt here; not when the atmosphere was so charged, and certainly not with everyone—from the Student Council to the Public Morals Committee and the Club Management Group—gathered in one place.

Erika leaned in toward Tatsuya, whispering softly into his ear.

'Thanks, Tatsuya-kun.'

'Is that all?'

'Ugh... what is it you want, then?' Erika pouted, her expression a complex mix of annoyance and curiosity.

Tatsuya let out a faint smirk.

'I'll think of something later.'

'...As long as it's nothing too over the top, I don't mind.'

'Good. That's what I wanted to hear.'

Tatsuya's smile turned meaningful, and Erika immediately felt a wave of regret for agreeing so easily.

'Hmm? They're coming.'

'What?! Where? Where are they?!'

Tatsuya rolled his eyes at the exaggerated reactions from several members of the Public Morals Committee and the Club Management Group.

'Calm down. They're on their way. About five kilometers from here.'

Stunned silence followed. Everyone's jaws dropped in sheer disbelief.

Five kilometers? How could he possibly know that?!

If Tatsuya were holding high-end military-grade binoculars, they wouldn't be so shocked. But there he stood, empty-handed and nonchalant. Who wouldn't be bewildered by such a claim?

A few members began to harbor doubts, but the majority, having seen glimpses of his competence, chose to believe him.

'Why are you all standing around? To your posts!' Mari barked.

'Right!'

The Public Morals Committee and the Club Management Group immediately fanned out. They had already been organized into tactical units; all that remained was to deploy to their designated sectors.

Tatsuya was set to move with Mayumi, Mari, and Erika.

Miyuki was not among them; she had been instructed to wait in the Student Council Room alongside Mizuki, Honoka, and Shizuku. Several other female students were with them—first-years who had been selected to represent the school in the Nine Schools Competition.

Tatsuya hadn't been introduced to them yet; perhaps he'd find the time later.

...

[The Chat Group]

Tatsuya had started the livestream some time ago. Kurumi, Testarossa, Aiz, and Makoto had been tuned in since the very beginning.

Makoto: This is a pretty large-scale mission. Why isn't this a group quest?

White: If this happened in our world, it definitely would be.

Time Eater: Agreed. Tatsuya is just so overpowered that a mission meant for a whole squad is basically a solo run for him.

Sword Princess: I wonder when I'll be as strong as Tatsuya...

While waiting for the climax, they idly chatted in the stream's comment section. Tatsuya, busy preparing for the confrontation with Blanche, couldn't join the conversation.

When the group members saw Tatsuya's current party, they were collectively rendered speechless.

Testarossa, Kurumi, and Aiz watched in silence.

Makoto, meanwhile, felt a profound sense of grief, lamenting the sheer unfairness of the universe. Despite having two top-tier beauties willing to serve him if he only gave the word, his own naivety had trapped him in an endless, self-inflicted loop.

White: Forget fighting terrorists. This looks more like he's out on a harem stroll.

Time Eater: Agreed.

Sword Princess: 100% agreed.

White: Let's see if he can actually fight terrorists while surrounded by his harem.

...

BOOM!

A violent explosion rocked the school gates, signaling the start of Blanche's assault.

The Student Council immediately mobilized to gather the students, escorting them to the main school building—the most secure location on campus.

Reinforcements had arrived in the form of several magicians from the Ten Master Clans. They were from the Juumonji and Saegusa families; notably, no one from the Yotsuba Clan was present.

It wasn't that the Yotsuba were unwilling to send aid. It was simply because their 'Prince' had strictly forbidden them from interfering.
