Chapter 19 - Infinite Psion

"Wh-what?!" Miyuki stood up, her face a mask of pure shock.

"I'm quite certain the Public Morals Committee isn't shorthanded. Why does Watanabe-senpai want me to join?" Tatsuya was remarkably calm and composed as he spoke.

"Ahem! It's true we aren't exactly short on members, but we need a first-year student on the committee," Watanabe Mari explained. Her cheeks flushed a faint crimson, making her look quite adorable as she blushed.

Tatsuya was stunned; he took a deep breath and slowly shook his head.

"I must regretfully decline Senpai's offer."

Mari fell silent, sitting back in her chair with a look of visible disappointment.

"May I know the reason?"

"I'm not very good at holding back."

"Not very good at holding back? What do you mean by that?" Mari narrowed her eyes, staring straight at Tatsuya.

"Does Senpai know why I've been given the nickname 'The Prince of Yotsuba'?"

Mari pondered for a moment before shaking her head. Tatsuya shifted his gaze toward Mayumi in silence.

"...Tatsuya-kun, are you sure you want to reveal it here?" Mayumi asked.

Tatsuya gave a firm, gentle nod. "I trust her."

Mayumi let out a soft sigh.

"Ugh, what are you two talking about? This 'mysterious talk' is starting to creep me out a little," Mari muttered.

Mayumi turned to her, her expression becoming dead serious.

"Mari, the information you are about to hear is classified as secret even among the Ten Master Clans. I need you to keep it to yourself and not mention it to anyone else."

Gulp...

Mari swallowed hard. Ichihara Suzune and Nakajou Azusa exchanged hesitant glances before looking back at Mayumi.

"President, should we step out?" Azusa asked.

Mayumi didn't answer immediately; instead, she looked to Tatsuya for the final word.

"There's no need. You can hear it if you wish," Tatsuya replied.

Suzune remained silent, while Azusa took a moment to reflect before deciding to stay. Both were clearly intimidated by the weight of a Ten Master Clans secret, but their curiosity ultimately won out over their apprehension.

"Tatsuya-kun," Mayumi prompted.

"Mm. The reason I am called the Prince of Yotsuba—aside from my genius in the field of magic—is because I possess infinite Psion reserves."

"Eh?" Mari, Azusa, and Suzune froze.

They immediately looked at Mayumi, who gave them a slow, solemn nod.

"Tatsuya-kun... are your Psion levels truly infinite?" Mari asked, needing to confirm.

"I'm certain I was once tested directly by the heads of the Ten Master Clans; the results concluded that I possess infinite Psion reserves."

"..." Mari went silent.

Suzune's hand trembled as she lifted her glass. Azusa sat there in a daze, her mouth slightly agape and her eyes vacant. Mayumi simply closed her eyes, nodding repeatedly as she listened to Tatsuya's statement.

"As expected of Onii-sama," Miyuki added, instantly slipping into her doting younger sister mode.

Tatsuya offered a faint smile while gently stroking Miyuki's soft, silky hair.

"Beyond the infinite Psions, Tatsuya-kun is also a Strategic-Class Mage—though even I don't know the specific nature of his Strategic-Class magic," Mayumi added.

"What?! A Strategic-Class Mage?! Is this for real?!" Mari cried out.

Suzune's eyes went blank, though she maintained her usual calm expression. Azusa, on the other hand, had completely lost her mind and could no longer think.

"Hmm? Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned the Strategic-Class part?" Mayumi scratched her cheek with a sheepish, slightly careless smile.

Tatsuya let out a soft sigh and shook his head helplessly.

It took several minutes for them to recover from the shock. Once she regained her composure, Mari finally understood Tatsuya's situation.

"I see... it would indeed be dangerous if you accidentally killed a student here."

Tatsuya nodded in agreement. "For that reason, I decline your offer, Senpai."

Mari could only nod back, her expression tinged with sadness. Given the circumstances, there was no way she could push him any further.

After that, not much else happened, so we shall move forward.

...

Upon arriving home, Tatsuya and Miyuki were greeted politely by the maids employed by the Yotsuba family. Sakurai Honami, acting as the head maid, looked strikingly beautiful in her uniform.

"Welcome home, Master Tatsuya, Miss Miyuki."

"We're home, Honami-san."

"I have prepared dinner; please join us after you have refreshed yourselves."

Tatsuya nodded and headed to the second floor with Miyuki. They both took their showers before heading to the dining room.

"Why did you lie, Onii-sama? Even though you can control your power perfectly well."

"...No special reason. I just don't want to draw unnecessary attention."

"Hmm..."

"Besides, if I joined the Public Morals Committee, I'd have to spend a lot of time with Watanabe-senpai. Would you really want that?"

Miyuki froze. Her cheeks flared up, and she immediately shook her head in protest.

"Absolutely not! Onii-sama is only allowed to spend that much time with me!" she exclaimed, bristling like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

Tatsuya let out a light chuckle and playfully flicked Miyuki's forehead.

"Ow, that hurt."

"Don't be noisy and eat. It's rude to Honami-san and the other maids."

"Fine," Miyuki pouted. She looked over at Honami and the other maids. "My apologies."

"It is quite alright, Miss Miyuki. We understand your feelings perfectly," Honami replied with a graceful, knowing smile.

That seemed to make Miyuki feel much better.
