The vintage car sped up to 120 mph, roaring down the highway overpass.

Jackie drove skillfully through the sea of cars, from Watson District to Santo Domingo, taking the City Center route, where the traffic was incredibly heavy.

But Jackie, with his expert driving skills and bold yet careful approach, was racing through it.

In the passenger seat, Jax pressed two fingers to his temple, answering the incoming call.

It was David calling, and Jax immediately spoke, "Hello, have you reached the district hospital yet? I'll be there soon…"

"Brother Jax, we've been stopped!" David shouted, a hint of panic in his voice.

"It's the 6th Street Gang. They've intercepted the ambulance and won't let it go to the district hospital. They said they need to search us, but, but Mom she—" David continued.

Then another voice chimed in on the phone, the ambulance worker Jax had threatened. He quickly explained the situation:

"This has nothing to do with me, Mr. Jax. I've already followed your instructions to take Gloria to the district hospital, I even ignored orders from my superiors.

But the 6th Street Gang suddenly appeared. They've stopped us here at the Kookol Warehouse. I can't drive now; they've blocked the road with two rows of cars and are searching the ambulance in front. We're also blocked from behind by their people."

Jax frowned, about to instruct the driver to turn around and force their way through, but then he heard a loud curse.

"Who told you to make a call without permission? Hang up the phone! You are currently under investigation; no one is allowed to make calls or send emails!"

Along with the curses, Jax then heard a muffled grunt from David, followed by a crashing sound, and then, the call was suddenly disconnected.

"What's going on?" Jackie asked, keeping his eyes on the road as he drove.

"It's the 6th Street Gang. Their people have intercepted the ambulance, Jackie. Can you go any faster?" Jax looked at Jackie.

Jackie nodded, stomped on the accelerator, and with a surge of acceleration, he laughed and said, "Don't worry, I don't care if I wreck this car! I have money now!"

"Sasha, Kiwi." Jax turned to look at the back seat.

"What's David's exact current location?" Kiwi and Sasha exchanged glances, then looked at Jax and asked.

"Kookol Warehouse, he said it was near there."

Kiwi immediately began searching, operating her device as she spoke, "…OK, I've sent you the address, Jackie. I've also marked the fastest route."

"Alright, girl, I'm heading there now!"

The temperature inside the car suddenly rose. Sasha's usually dry hair clung to her cute round face, and hot air spewed from the two card slots on either side of her face. Her eyes flickered with colorful light, and the data cable pulled from her wrist was plugged into her portable mini-computer.

"Beep—"

After getting off the highway overpass, the first thing they encountered was a red light. Jackie naturally thought of running it, but he was blocked by a pile of cars in front. Seeing this, Jackie gritted his teeth, intending to drive onto the sidewalk.

But in the next moment, as Sasha exhaled, the red light suddenly turned green.

"Drive forward, I'll make sure this road is clear for us all the way~" Sasha said, reaching to unbutton her jacket and taking off her shoes, sitting barefoot in the back seat. Her mouth was slightly open, a small pink tongue peeking out, panting like a dog to cool down.

Kiwi, meanwhile, thoughtfully took a cooling patch from her bag and applied it to Sasha.

"No problem!"

.....

"My mom, she, I—"

"Shut your mouth, kid! You don't have a say right now!"

David, interrupted, glared furiously at the man in front of him. The man held a kinetic submachine gun, wore a beret, and was dressed in a tracksuit and boots.

This was the standard 6th Street Gang attire.

Having grown up in Santo Domingo, David naturally knew the 6th Street Gang. For this gang, which most Santo Domingo residents resented, David felt fear and apprehension. But at this moment, his concern for Gloria's condition made David forget his fear, replaced instead by anger.

Standing up, fists clenched, David stepped forward, looked at the man, and said, "I told you, my mom is injured, we need to go to the hospital!"

"And I told you, shut your stinking mouth!"

Reiner looked at David irritably. He raised the submachine gun in his hand, pointed it at David's head, and then said, "To the hospital? Are you on your way to the hospital? Is this the road to the hospital? Besides, that woman is wearing a cleaner's uniform. You should be the one who knows best how she got injured!"

"I know best?" With a gun pointed at his face, David's body trembled, but strangely, he wasn't afraid at this moment.

Instead, there was a strange mix of excitement and anger. David looked into Reiner's eyes, took a step forward. Though not tall, his eyes glared fiercely at Reiner, and he thrust his head forward, his forehead touching the muzzle of the gun.

In Reiner's astonished gaze, David spoke, "Animals attacked the corporate dogs, and then the exploding car injured my mother. That's the truth I know, and that's all I know. So, what else do you need me to explain to you?"

"Come on, tell me, I'll answer everything!" David growled.

Reiner narrowed his eyes, looking at David with some surprise. After a moment, he said, "But your mother also works at the hospital, right?"

"So what?"

"And that's the most troublesome part, kid. It's not that I'm making things difficult for you. It's your mother, Gloria Martinez. I just scanned her and found that she's involved in some internal matters at our hospital.

She had a work record at a hospital under our jurisdiction. She was an outsourced worker sent by City Center, right? You might not know these things, but in all of this…" Reiner paused.

He didn't know if he should tell an underage child that his mother might have committed a crime.

For example, should he tell a child if his mother was involved in killing ordinary people and stealing their cybernetics?

Reiner felt it was inappropriate. If this kid was a coward who feared death, Reiner would have directly explained the reason and told him to get lost, or even just shot him.

But at this moment, he actually felt a bit of admiration for this kid.

Although he was desperate to save his mother, with a gun pointed at his head, he truly didn't seem afraid at all…

It's important to remember that under the instinct for survival, humans' resistance to death is unavoidable.

Therefore, even Reiner would feel a sense of dread and panic if a gun were pointed at his face.

So, Reiner inexplicably felt a sense of respect for this kid.

"Speak up, tell me, what the hell is going on in all of this!" David swore for the first time.

Gloria always asked him to do things that didn't fit his identity, for example… not to swear, not to carry weapons, not to…

"Boom!"

Thinking about it, Reiner, who was about to reassure David, suddenly swayed, and David also stumbled forward, falling towards Reiner.

Almost instinctively, a thought flashed through his mind, and David reached out to grab the gun—to hell with rules and regulations!

David's hands lunged at Reiner.

There was a commotion outside. Reiner saw David grabbing at him, his eyes turned cold, and then he quickly raised his arm, forcefully striking David's chin upwards with the butt of the submachine gun.

David grunted, the intense pain in his jaw almost making him faint, but he endured it, clutching his chin and lowering his head, biting his tongue hard. The taste of rust in his mouth kept David conscious.

"What a foolish guy!"

Spitting out a word, Reiner quickly got up and pushed open the ambulance door.

Then, he understood what had happened.

A car had crashed into the ambulance, sending it flying a dozen meters away, while the car itself remained stationary, its front severely dented and emitting a foul, burnt odor.

On the other side, another car, looking quite expensive, had also crashed head-on into the armored vehicle Reiner had driven to block the road, creating an opening in the blockade.

"Damn it, who are you? Are you crazy? You dare to cause trouble for the 6th Street Gang?!"

"Bastard, how are you driving?!"

A 6th Street Gang member cursed as he walked past Reiner to the side of the car. He pounded on the car window, constantly shouting loudly.

The car window rolled down. The 6th Street Gang member, with his back to Reiner, leaned his head inside and also reached his hand in, as if to grab the person inside.

But in the next moment, Reiner saw him straighten up, his hands raised in a gesture of surrender.

"Roger?" Reiner was stunned, unconsciously speaking out.

Then, Reiner saw this scene—

A burly man with a samurai bun had his right hand on the steering wheel inside the car, and his left hand held a pistol. A pair of golden bracelets jingled on his arm, which was tattooed with a Valentinos Gang tattoo. Grinning, this bear-like man said disdainfully, "Making a fuss."

Kicking open the car door, Jackie got out and slapped the 6th Street Gang member across the face, saying:

"Who are you trying to scare?"
