There were various theories online about whether that hospital was connected to the Scavengers, but one thing was certain—this group of people in yellow, including Gloria herself, were involved.
To these so-called medical staff, cleaners, and 'angels of mercy,' 'poor patients' were nothing more than a product to make a quick buck.
Did Gloria really die in a car accident?
The answer was clearly no, because Jax remembered that when Gloria was lying on the ground in the anime, she had no obvious external injuries, nor was there any blood around her.
Therefore, Trigger Studio wasn't being metaphorical; they were explicitly telling you that there was something fishy going on.
Think about it, it's 2076. In medical conditions where knife wounds, gunshots, missing organs, damaged hearts, and even more severe injuries can be cured...
Gloria, however, died in the hospital from minor injuries. If it were due to severe injuries but no money for treatment, it might be more acceptable to everyone.
But to say it was the Scavengers...
But it shouldn't be. When Jax first watched the anime, he also thought Gloria was sent to the Scavengers' territory and was then dismembered...
However, after five years of living in Night City, especially being part of the Moxes, Jax, while not clear on the rules for Edgerunners, understood the rules of the street very well.
Santo Domingo is 6th Street Gang territory, and Rancho Coronado is even more so Santo Domingo's backyard, with 6th Street Gang markings everywhere in the streets and alleys.
The Scavengers had no reason, nor the guts, to do such a thing in the 6th Street Gang's backyard.
Because in Night City, the 6th Street Gang is the most exclusive gang. Those dead rats from the Scavengers often appear in the chaotic Watson District district, and even Heywood has their people, but Santo Domingo... there seem to be really few of them here?
But the 6th Street Gang, honestly, what good people can there be in a gang?
Even with the 'mutual aid' operating rules of a gang like the Moxes, gang members have done many evil deeds, let alone the 6th Street Gang, which operates under 'military management' and mimics 'dictatorial warlords.'
For example, there's a quest in the game where V is asked to rescue someone from 6th Street Gang territory, and when you, as V, arrive, you'll see a bloody party.
All in all, this matter... if not handled well, might get entangled with the 6th Street Gang.
Jax hung up the phone, and Maine's crew looked over, all frowning: "What's wrong?"
Having spent some time with Jax, Maine's crew had come to understand what kind of person he was.
Jax was the opposite of most people. When ordinary people were cursing and swearing, it meant they were in their worst mood, at their breaking point and furious.
But Jax was different. If he cursed, it actually meant his mood was starting to improve, but if he spoke with a cold face, it meant Jax was very unhappy right now.
Pilar was the first to notice this. How shrewd was he?
Therefore, seeing Jax speak threatening words with an expressionless face, Maine naturally became concerned.
Jax's business was Maine's crew's business.
"Something happened with David. He's fine, but Gloria is unconscious and was sent by the cleaners to a hospital in 6th Street Gang territory."
"Fuck? That rundown, trash-heap of a hospital?" Maine immediately became furious. "Are you kidding? If an ordinary person is sent there, will the doctors seriously treat them? The doctors there are more like butchers than doctors!"
"How could she be sent to a hospital like that? That hospital is supposedly controlled by the police station locally, but in reality, it's just the 6th Street Gang's backyard, making a lot of profit for the 6th Street Gang. With Gloria's means, shouldn't she be going to a district hospital for treatment now?" Dorio interjected.
Maine's crew often operated in Santo Domingo, so Maine and Dorio naturally understood some of the'secrets' of the place.
"No money," Jax said.
"She has no money? Her son is studying at Arasaka, and the jacket David is wearing is worth thousands!"
"She really has no money. That merchandise she has, hasn't it been sold to you yet?" Jax looked at Maine and said.
Maine paused, then nodded, saying, "No wonder she sold it cheaply and actively sought me out."
The usually mysterious Ripperdoc suddenly showed his hand. Maine had thought he was clever, but now he saw that Gloria was desperate for money...
"So, Jax, how do you plan to handle this? I think David is a pretty good kid, and Gloria is useful to us," Maine looked at Jax, thought for a moment, and said.
But in fact, even if Gloria wasn't useful to Maine, just the fact that he liked David was enough for Maine to help out.
"I'll have the medical staff send Gloria to the district hospital. Although I don't trust corporations much, compared to hospitals controlled by gangs, Night Corp-controlled hospitals are more trustworthy. After all, money talks, right?" Jax patted his leg, then stood up.
"Let's go, we'll go together," Sasha said immediately as Jax stood up.
"But Vik..."
"Don't mind me, helping people is more important." Viktor had already hung up with Pilar and was looking for materials, turning his back to everyone as he spoke.
"Go, come back to me later. I'll save these things for you," Viktor said.
"Damn, Viktor, you're really something!" Maine said with a hearty laugh.
"After all, I can make some money too," Viktor's voice was jovial.
"Let's go, Jax, time waits for no one."
Jackie also stood up, even starting to rub his fists together.
Earlier, he had heard Maine's evaluation of David, saying he seemed timid but was actually a warm-hearted kid.
Such people are rare in Night City. Warm-hearted, isn't that just like himself?
Jax nodded, and then the group exited Viktor's basement.
Without disturbing Misty, who was working, everyone left directly through the back alley. After getting into the car, Maine said over the crew channel: "The district hospital in Santo Domingo, right?"
"Yes, but Maine, I always feel like this matter isn't that easy to handle..." Jax said, then added after thinking, "You haven't forgotten about our business with the 6th Street Gang, have you?"
"Damn it!"
"Don't mention it, I almost forgot about the grudge we have with the 6th Street Gang."
"Yeah, because of that scumbag Kerfu's dirty work, we took out a lot of 6th Street Gang members, but don't overthink it, the 6th Street Gang won't know about this, and that medical staff wouldn't dare disobey you."
Jax didn't say anything, just nodded.
But Jax just felt a nerve twitching.
And in the quest log—the [Reshape Worldview] quest was also telling Jax that this matter was indeed not that simple...
Looking out the car window, Jax shook his head.
Night City... a place where accidents always happen frequently.
