The Lost Vampire System Chapter 14 - The Evolution
Jareth was now on the ground rolling about. He was twitching on the ground. Madison had seen this before, but she was a little confused. Last time she thought he was overheating, yet he was doing the same thing now. The group who hadn't joined in on the action rushed over to where Jareth was on the ground.
"Jareth!" Damion said anxiously reaching the fallen Quarterblood first. "What is going on?"
"He's overheating," Madison said. "Though this condition must be worse than I thought.
At this moment the others had reached them that weren't participating, including Mia.
"What happened?" Jareth's sister asked.
"You should know," Madison said, "he's overheating."
"Overheating?" Mia said with a confused voice. "Why would he be overheating?"
"Madison paused as she looked at Jareth then back at Mia. "How do you not know about your brother's condition?"
"Condition?" she asked as she turned her head to face her brother.
Jareth was still squirming on the ground, but with great effort he lifted his head and glared at Mia. He hoped that she would understand.
Did he glare at me, she wondered? It must have something to do with that tablet. Fine Jareth, I'll play along with you.
"Oh yeah," Mia suddenly said. "I forgot he had that condition. It's been a while since he had a breakout."
It looked like Madison was about to say something when Damion jumped in.
"Let's get him out of the dining hall before a stray attack hits us."
Damion went in grabbing Jareth under his arms and Madison went in grabbing his legs. The two of them carried out the still squirming Jareth followed by the rest of the group who just stood by.
Why are these two taking care of him so much, Mia wondered as she followed behind. When they got to the elevators that's when Jareth had finally stopped squirming.
"Evolution complete," the system stated. "Congratulations, you have now evolved into a Half-ling."
A Half-ling, Jareth thought as he slumped into Damion and Madison's grasps.
The system continued. "You have evolved from a 25% vampire to a 50% vampire. All base stats will increase by 1. Your health and blood energy will increase by 5. User: Jareth Nightshade. Race: Half-ling. Level 3. Exp: 0 of 80. HP (Health Points): 10 of 20. Strength: 12. Stamina: 12. Agility: 11. Dexterity: 5. Blood Energy: 27 of 35. Your stats being reduced while the sunlight touches your skin will remain at 40%."
At least that's an improvement, Jareth thought as a smile formed on his face. Unfortunately for him, it didn't stick for long as the downside kicked in.
"Since you are now a Half-ling," the system continued, "Your hunger for blood grows and it can no longer be suppressed."
"What?" Jareth choked.
"What did you say Jareth?" Madison asked but he just ignored her as the system continued.
"Minus 1 Blood Energy every 2 hours. Consuming blood will restore blood energy."
Jareth was staring blankly at his system screen but to the outside it looked like he had seen a ghost.
"Jareth," Madison snapped her fingers in front of his face as she had already dropped his legs.
He shook his head as he stood up and Damion had let go of his arms. He looked around and he could see that his little group was just staring at him.
"Your condition is bad," Madison stated.
"Minus 1 blood energy," the system announced. "Blood Energy: 26 of 35. The Bracelet of Dominion is 54% bonded with the system."
Shaking at what the system just told him he decided that he should probably answer his new friends.
"It seems like my condition is worse than what I would like to admit," Jareth said. "Mia hasn't seen it this bad in a while. I hope that this doesn't affect our current relationship as this group that I have found myself in seems to be nice."
There was a pause before Damion stepped in. "Sure Jareth, I'll keep a watch over you. I don't know about everybody else, but I will."
Madison tried to elbow him, but he just took a step back ignoring the little attack.
"Damion seems nicer than the rest of us, but I will too. You have a strategic mind, and I would like to keep you within our little group. Axel seems to have a similar mind as well, but I haven't been around him as much."
"You haven't been around me mu…" Jareth tried to say but Madison interrupted him
"Sh, sh, shh, just take the compliment," she said as she slung one arm around Jareth's neck cause his face to get slightly red.
"Well, that was something," Kiera mumbled. She thought she was quiet but not quite enough that everybody looked at her, which caused her cheeks to redden slightly.
"She is right," Damion said. "Let's just wonder outside for like an hour and wait for this place to cool off."
The group agreed, which consisted of Jareth, Mia, Damion, Emma, Henry, Madison, and Kiera as they exited from their dorm building. Jareth was able to walk normally since the sun had already set, so his stats stayed the same. The group walked around the other buildings aimlessly learning more about each other and their lives, except for Damion who kept avoiding the question. They learned that Kiera and Henry were in the same place that the siblings were in. Damion just said that his lifestyle was lucky. Madison said that everyone was too afraid to talk to her except for this group. Emma stated that the group that she was with loved to practice physical combat. And only the adults would leave to go hunting on the Becifer planets.
After about two hours the group made their way back to the dining hall as it was 10:15pm.
"Minus 1 blood energy," the system announced. "Blood Energy: 25 of 35."
Am I even able to eat normal food or since I'm part Vampire I must consume blood now. Where can I even get blood now?
He gulped thinking about this as the group entered the dining hall.
