Chapter 159 - Bottleneck and Dining

Translator: AnubisTL

In the gravity training room, aided by various resources, Jieming's cultivation progressed at an astonishing pace.

His physical refinement and soul's sublimation advanced in tandem, with clear progress evident each day. He could distinctly feel his own improvement.

However, not all paths were so smooth.

Particularly in his research, Jieming recently discovered that his studies on the Divine Power Faith Network had gradually slowed, and he had now reached an inexplicable bottleneck.

His underground laboratory, once overflowing with data models and analytical runes related to the Divine Power Faith Network, now felt somewhat stagnant.

This complex energy flow, born from the plane itself and naturally gathering the faith power of mortals, resembled a vast cosmic sea.

Initially, he could easily grasp the surface tides and currents. But when he attempted to delve into its core, to explore the underlying logic and laws governing its operation, he encountered an unfathomable resistance.

Jieming understood that forcing his way through this bottleneck alone was possible, but he estimated it would require an exorbitant amount of time.

He had tried various analytical methods and constructed thousands of simulation models, yet none could penetrate beyond the surface.

The Divine Power Faith Network was a magnificent bridge connecting mortals and divine beings, the most intricate creation at the deepest layers of the plane's rules.

It wasn't merely a conduit for energy transfer; it also involved souls, beliefs, karma, and higher-dimensional laws.

For Jieming, a first-tier wizard, attempting to analyze such a system was akin to a mortal trying to fathom the mysteries of the universe.

He estimated that fully researching the Divine Power Faith Network of the Elosia Plane, given his current efficiency and the data he possessed, would likely take thousands of years.

And even after those millennia of research, he would only have achieved a "thorough understanding." Transforming this knowledge for his own use, or even replicating a similar energy circulation system, would require an immeasurable amount of additional time.

Faced with this daunting challenge, Jieming had no easy solutions.

Core knowledge like this was rarely sold, and even if it were, the price would likely be high-level military merit or some equivalent currency far beyond his means.

Today was the day Jieming delivered Mentor Clark's monthly supply of Red Dust Magic Potion.

Carrying two bottles of magic potion that shimmered with iridescent light, Jieming used a teleportation formation to reach Mentor Clark's office at Noren Academy.

Mentor Clark accepted the potions and, as was his habit, used his mental power to sense their effects, a satisfied smile appearing on his face.

But then he detected a trace of barely concealed anxiety and fatigue in Jieming's mental fluctuations.

"Jieming, you seem troubled lately," Mentor Clark said calmly, setting down the potion bottles. Though his voice lacked emotion, it possessed a penetrating power that could see through to the heart of others.

Jieming didn't try to hide anything. He explained in detail the bottleneck he had encountered in his research on the Divine Power Faith Network, as well as his astronomical estimate of the time required to overcome it.

Mentor Clark listened, nodding slightly. His deep eyes showed no surprise, as if he had anticipated this all along.

He then stood up, gesturing for Jieming to follow him.

"Come with me," Mentor Clark said tersely.

Jieming hesitated for a moment, but instinctively followed.

The two stepped into a miniature teleportation formation in the corner of the office.

A soft white light enveloped them, and the sensation of space distorting flashed briefly.

When his vision cleared, Jieming found himself in an entirely different world.

This was no longer the cold, austere laboratory of the Noren Workshop, but a vibrant, verdant landscape.

A warm, gentle sun shone overhead, while lush green grass carpeted the ground beneath his feet. A murmuring stream flowed nearby.

"This is my personal plane," Mentor Clark's voice echoed in his ear. "We're currently at my Private Residence and Research Base."

Jieming immediately understood: this was essentially Mentor Clark's personal laboratory within his own "wizard tower."

He glanced around and realized the laboratory was embedded within a massive, floating crystal island. Elemental runes glowed around them, their energy swirling like rainbows, creating an awe-inspiring and mystical atmosphere.

"Mentor..." Jieming began, wanting to ask why he had been brought here.

But Clark had already turned and started walking ahead. "Come on, I'm treating you to a meal today."

Mentor Clark led Jieming out of the laboratory, along a neatly trimmed, shaded path, and directly toward a magnificent complex of buildings at the heart of the floating island.

It was an extraordinarily luxurious mansion.

The main structure was a towering palace built of white marble and golden rune-inscribed bricks, its style both elegant and imposing.

The palace's spires pierced the clouds, each brick and tile shimmering with a faint magical glow.

In the expansive courtyard grew a variety of exotic, otherworldly plants. Their shapes were diverse, their colors vibrant, and some even emitted a soft light or released an invigorating fragrance.

A crystal-clear lake surrounded the mansion, its surface as smooth as glass, reflecting the palace's silhouette and the playful antics of unknown amphibious creatures.

The palace gates, two massive metal doors inlaid with magic crystal stones, slowly swung open as they sensed Clark and Jieming's approach.

Jieming stepped inside and found the interior space remarkably vast. The hall's vaulted ceiling soared high above, adorned with magical murals depicting the celestial revolution of stars.

To Jieming's surprise, the servants welcoming guests in the hall and serving food in the dining hall were humanoid beings clearly not of the wizard world.

Their forms varied greatly.

There were "lizardfolk" covered in scales, clad in exquisitely crafted guard uniforms, appearing exceptionally elite.

Among the attendants were horned people, their skin a pale blue and their eyes gleaming like gemstones. These horned maidens glided silently through the hall, carrying trays with effortless grace.

There were also diminutive flower sprites, their backs adorned with translucent butterfly wings. They hovered in the air, scattering shimmering stardust as they moved.

Despite their diverse appearances, these alien beings all displayed remarkable intelligence and impeccable manners.

"These are my servant races," Mentor Clark explained, noticing Jieming's curiosity. He gestured toward a lizardfolk attendant pulling out a dining chair for them, his voice calm and measured.

"I allow members of these servant races to reside in my plane, granting them sanctuary and a stable environment. In return, they provide combat strength when I require it, forming a servant army to assist me in conquering other planes."

"This is a common practice among high-rank wizards who discover suitable intelligent races on other planes," he continued. "In the future, you too may have the opportunity to find oppressed races on other planes, offer them protection, and allow them to flourish in your personal plane. When you need power, they will become your most loyal servant army."

Jieming nodded thoughtfully.

He wasn't entirely unfamiliar with such matters. After all, wizards had only a few methods for dealing with indigenous populations, and he had heard rumors about them long ago.

However, this was his first time encountering a true servant race in practice.

"So, theoretically, every high-rank wizard is a complete war system," Clark summarized. "The high-rank wizard themselves and their planar wizard tower serve as the high-end combat force. The artificial humans and bioweapons they create form the elite mid-tier force, while these servant armies constitute the vast, fundamental low-end combat power."

"A high-level wizard, relying solely on their own strength, can independently invade other planes and even establish long-term planar colonization."

Jieming imagined the scenario in his mind and couldn't help but feel a sense of awe.

After they took their seats, a lavish banquet began.

The table was laden with delicacies from various planes.

The dishes were incredibly diverse, some with bizarre appearances. There were pulsating chunks of black meat, phosphorescent fungi, and even blue fruits that resembled eyeballs, yet all emanated an enticing aroma.

Jieming cautiously took a bite, his eyes lighting up. Despite their strange forms, the food tasted exceptionally delicious, with a rich texture and an unforgettable aftertaste.

More importantly, these specially prepared delicacies offered significant benefits to the consumer. With each bite, Jieming felt a cool energy permeating his body, nourishing his mental power while subtly strengthening his physical form.

As he ate, Jieming silently noted this down.

These otherworldly delicacies, though far less potent than magic potions in terms of immediate power enhancement, provided an additional boost outside of cultivation. If consumed daily, their cumulative effect over time would be substantial.

He resolved to incorporate these otherworldly delicacies into his daily diet as supplements to his cultivation.

During the meal, Mentor Clark inquired about the progress of Jieming's research on the Divine Power Faith Network.

Jieming detailed his current bottleneck, explaining that he had only managed to grasp the superficial energy transmission techniques.

Upon learning that Jieming had only explored a fraction of the most superficial energy transmission knowledge within the mysterious faith network, Mentor Clark shook his head, a hint of resignation crossing his face.

Without further comment, he slowly rose from his seat and walked into the adjacent study.

Moments later, he emerged, holding a small pouch that radiated spatial fluctuations. He handed it to Jieming.

"These are my research manuscripts on the Divine Power Faith Network," Mentor Clark said calmly. "Though the faith network I studied originated from another plane, not Elosia, the fundamental laws of all things share a common source. They should still offer you some inspiration."
