A minute after Pietro left, Wanda and Mark stood tensely watching the door.

Bang!

Suddenly the door was struck, snapping from its hinges. It flew and fell on the floor.

Men in uniform, holding guns, immediately flooded into the room, their weapons aimed at the two kids.

Step step

With ominous, slow steps, a man wearing a bulletproof vest over his uniform entered the room.

He had broad shoulders and a scar that ran from his bald head to his eye.

As soon as he stepped in, he coldly scanned the room, then fixed his gaze on Wanda and Mark.

"A boy is missing. Where is he?" he asked.

". Don't know," Mark shrugged.

The man stared at Mark, then nodded subtly, before he turned back, walking out of the room while giving commands to the soldiers:

"Kill the boy, capture the girl."

"Yes, sir!"

The soldiers shouted and pointed their guns at the two kids. Before Wanda and Mark could react, the guns roared, spraying bullets on Mark and sending him flying back.

"MARK!" Wanda screamed as she watched him fall to the ground, thick red blood pooling beneath him.

Swoosh!

The fallen door, dust, stone, and debris rose up along with Wanda's hair as she turned to the soldiers, her eyes flashing red.

"I'LL KILL YOU!!"

Humm!

Red energy erupted from within her like a tsunami, striking the soldiers close to her and sending them flying.

She raised her hand, her open palm facing a soldier, and she pressed back.

Under the horrified gazes of the soldiers in the room, the soldier clutched his neck, struggling, then he went still, falling to the ground with a thud.

"Shit! Fire!" a soldier shouted, and the others immediately fired.

Taa-taa! Taa-taa!

The bullets, moving faster than the eye could see, were stopped a few meters away from Wanda by the red energy, then they shot back with even greater force. The bullets pierced and sent them flying.

"F...Fuck! She's a powerful mutant!" a soldier shouted, and without hesitation, dropped his gun, turned back, and ran.

His actions were like a domino effect as his comrades followed in his suit, turning and fleeing for their lives.

But Wanda wasn't through.

"DIE!" she shouted, the red energy raging through the room, slamming the slow soldiers into the wall—their life and death unknown.

Wanda didn't even give them a second glance as she pursued those that had escaped. But unknown to her, as she left the room, the finger of the presumably dead Mark twitched, and his eyes snapped open.

"Haaa...!" Mark exhaled deeply and shot upward before inhaling—then his breathing returned to normal.

"Fuck, I'm not taking a bullet to the body again..." Mark groaned under his breath, and then something shocking happened.

The bullets which had already pierced through his body were slowly being ejected, each of them falling on the ground.

Clack!

A sound like a gear turning echoed in his mind as an illusory wheel materialized behind him, featuring a sphere at the center and then elongating into seven straight spokes, each ending with a smaller sphere.

"Huuu...." Mark exhaled once more as the pain slowly receded, then he stood up. But the scene that he saw left him stunned.

Dead men with wide eyes were scattered at the edge of the room, their blood trailing on the ground.

Suddenly, an explosion rang out from outside, and Mark's expression changed.

"Wanda..." he muttered under his breath as he tore his gaze from the gruesome scene and ran out of the room.

***

Outside the abandoned building that Wanda, Pietro, and Mark inhabited.

Wanda was like a mad bull set free. With the red energy that could not only stop bullets but also kill, she started a killing spree.

The broad-shouldered man, Michael, stood beside a ruined truck with a tight expression. Sweat trailed from his forehead to his jaw before dropping onto the floor that already had many wet patches as a result of his sweat.

They hadn't brought any heavy weapons.

The reason was simple—A kid awakened her ability. How strong would that kid be? Can she resist the siege of veteran soldiers?

Now the arrogance had come back to bite them.

While Michael brooded on how to survive, the man standing beside him, wearing a white lab coat—Luke—stared at Wanda with bright eyes.

"The perfect weapon! I can tell she's the perfect weapon!" Luke muttered, his face flushed with excitement.

"Fuck you!" Michael turned and gripped Luke's coat, raising him up and staring him dead in the eyes. "Stop fucking muttering! We're about to die! Can't you do something about that?! Call some reinforcement or something to come pick us up, 'cause this is all happening because of you! I would have gone if it weren't for orders from the higher-ups!"

Luke chuckled and unplugged Michael's grip, before he turned back to Wanda. "Don't worry, we won't die, because unlike you, I have a plan B."

Luke pressed the earpiece by his ear for a long time, and a voice came through the comm. "Sir, what is your command?"

"Release Titan," Luke said with a smile.

Bam!

The last soldier was sent flying like a cannonball. Then Wanda turned to the two men, eyes still glowing red.

Roar!

An ear-piercing roar suddenly sounded as a huge figure rushed from behind Luke and Michael.

Though the figure had the appearance of a man, its entire body looked like rock, with a black collar around his neck—Titan.

Wanda's pupils constricted as she pushed her hand forward. The red energy rushed out, pushing Titan back, his giant legs carving a deep trench in the ground.

Wanda's face became pale. The red energy, which was bright, was now dull. The force pushing Titan reduced.

Titan let out another roar as he—even against the force that pushed him back—placed a leg forward, then another, and another, slowly closing the gap between him and Wanda.

Just when he was ten meters away from her, Titan's muscles compressed and he forcefully spread his hands, creating a brief whirlwind that pushed Wanda back.

Seizing the opportunity, Titan rushed toward her.

"Don't kill her!" Luke shouted, yet Titan ignored his words, his feet digging shallow holes in the ground.

Without hesitation, Luke brought out a device and pressed the button. The collar around Titan's neck coursed with electricity, electrifying the giant.

"Roar!" Titan roared as he staggered back while holding the collar.

"That's...!" Michael, who had been standing beside Luke feeling out of place, gasped as he stared at the bloodied boy who ran across the land, scooping Wanda up in his hands and running.

"Fuck! Drop her!" Luke shouted, letting go of the button and freeing Titan from his pain.

Titan roared and pursued the two.

Wanda, who was being carried by Mark in a princess carry, stared at him with wide eyes.

"Mark... you're—"

"Yeah. I'm alive," Mark nodded, then glanced over his shoulder at Titan, who was closing in. "I thought we could run, but it seems we need to fight."

Wanda's eyes widened as she shook her head. "You can leave me. It's me they want! Just run!"

"Please. I doubt that they'll let me go," Mark shook his head. "It's better if we fight together. That way we have a chance of winning."

"....."

Wanda stared at him in a trance, but Mark didn't notice the gaze. His entire focus was on the behemoth that pursued them and was slowly closing the gap.

Mark's heart immediately spiked.

"Now!" he shouted, held Wanda closer, then rolled just in time for Titan to bring his clasped hands down.

Boom!

Mark skidded to a stop, then dropped Wanda on the ground.

"Let's do this," Mark said, and the two sprang into action.

*Okaaay, I'll make some things clear before we continue.*

*First*: I'm neither a die-hard fan nor a fan of Marvel, meaning I do not know some lore or rules in Marvel. I'm still trying to fill the gaps I don't know, so if I ever make some mistake, please point it out instead of outright criticizing me.

*Second*: Because he can adapt doesn't mean Mark doesn't feel pain, so don't expect him to charge head-on into every attack so he'll adapt—he's not a masochist.

*Thirdly*: He can regenerate even from getting blown to pieces, but every regeneration takes time proportional to the amount of injuries taken.

*Fourthly*: This novel is made for a reason (which I shall not disclose), so if it doesn't get support, I might just drop it, soooo you know what to do — drop those powerstones... please🙏.

*And yes: Harem or no harem?*
