Chapter 34 - Sports Day- The Best Duo (Three-Leg Race And Relay) (part-1)

The school grounds were alive with excitement. Flags fluttered in the mild breeze, wet grass glistened from the morning drizzle, and the faint aroma of chalk and rubber from the tracks hung in the air. Today was Sports Day, a day that promised fun, challenges, and moments that would stay in memory forever.

Aarya adjusted her ponytail nervously, glancing around at the crowds of students, teachers, and parents filling the stands. Today, she was paired with Hiten for multiple events. Hiten appeared beside her, casually stretching but with a subtle tension betraying his nerves. He caught her anxious glance and offered a small, reassuring smile.

"Relax," he said, his tone calm yet confident. "We've got this. All the events, every single one—we're going to win."

Aarya laughed, trying to shake off her nervousness. "You're too confident. What if we trip, or… something embarrassing happens?"

Hiten smirked, teasing, "Embarrassing? Us? Never. Besides, I'm right here. You won't even have a chance to fall."

Their first event was the three-leg race. The rope tied around their legs felt snug but not tight. Hearts raced as they adjusted to each other's steps. Their hands brushed multiple times as they found balance, and Hiten's small nod reassured Aarya.

"Ready?" he whispered. She nodded, smiling, feeling a strange calm amidst the nervous excitement.

The whistle blew. They started carefully, awkward at first, their legs colliding slightly. But slowly, rhythm took over. Their movements synced perfectly—step by step, jump by jump. Laughter spilled as their legs tangled briefly, but they adjusted instantly, turning near-fumbles into graceful transitions. The crowd cheered louder with every step. Finally, with a last synchronized leap, they crossed the finish line first.

Their hands brushed, and both laughed breathlessly. "See?" Hiten teased, brushing imaginary sweat off his forehead. "Told you. We've already booked this win."

Aarya nudged him playfully, giggling. "Booked, huh? Well… it's official then. We're unstoppable."

The mini relay followed next. Hiten passed the baton to Aarya with perfect timing. She sprinted across the track, heart pounding, every step filled with rhythm and coordination. Even when a gust of wind threatened to slow her down, she adjusted instantly, trusting Hiten's guidance and presence. Every handoff, every stride, was precise, almost magical in its simplicity.

After the relay, they leaned against each other briefly, catching their breath, smiling at the thrill of competition and the shared laughter that came from small mistakes turned into moments of fun. Hiten gave her a quick wink, and Aarya felt her heart skip—a subtle, unspoken connection passing between them.
