Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Final Moment

Acnologia named the baby Erza—just those two syllables, with no Scarlet, Acnologia, or Belserion attached.

She should have taken his surname, but the name Acnologia originally belonged to a dragon and represented sin and slaughter; he didn't want Erza to inherit that.

As for the name Aegon, he wasn't even sure if he would use it in the future, and besides, it didn't fit the style of a magical world.

Regarding Belserion, that also originally belonged to a dragon. When Erza grew up, she could choose for herself whether she wanted to add it or not.

Acnologia felt quite helpless; between the two of them, they couldn't piece together a normal name, so calling her Erza was good enough.

Seven days passed in a flash. Acnologia stayed with Little Erza the entire time, going nowhere, while the kingdom's internal affairs were all left to the Number One Dragon Slayer General.

Once the kingdom's officials learned of the Little Princess, they scrambled to send gifts, which now filled an entire room to the ceiling.

Little Erza was surprisingly easy to raise; she didn't cry or fuss, and she didn't care for toys, preferring to follow Acnologia or Irene around. Consequently, Acnologia held Little Erza every day.

After some time had passed, the two finally remembered to perform a Magic Power Test, and the results left Acnologia somewhat surprised.

Little Erza possessed an extremely high talent for both Dragon Slaying Magic and Space Magic.

He could understand the Dragon Slaying Magic, given that both he and Irene could undergo Dragonification, but what was the deal with that Space Magic?

Could it be some kind of destiny?

Acnologia pondered for a while, but since he couldn't figure it out, he stopped thinking about it. As long as Little Erza liked it, any magic was fine; even if she wanted to be an ordinary person, that was no problem.

On the other hand, Irene spent all day in her room cultivating without a moment's rest. Watching Acnologia play with Little Erza every day made her nearly die of envy.

Through unremitting efforts, she finally completed her Human Transformation half a month later.

The first thing she did was take Erza and give her several kisses, and the second was pulling Acnologia into the bedroom... A month passed in the blink of an eye. During this time, they didn't know how the Human-Dragon War was faring outside; in any case, Acnologia's family of three lived in blissful happiness.

In the early morning, Irene picked up Erza from the crib beside her and brought a bottle filled with Beast Milk to Little Erza's mouth.

It was actually quite strange; she hadn't produced milk after giving birth to Erza. At first, she let Little Erza suckle for a long time but nothing came out, making her wonder if something was wrong with her.

However, she didn't worry for long. As the Queen of a nation, there was no kind of milk the Little Princess Erza couldn't obtain.

Just then, a soldier outside delivered a report in a panic.

"Your Majesty, the Phylos Kingdom's walls have been breached. Seven surrounding kingdoms have been destroyed by dragons, and the Good Dragons have all fallen in battle. Currently, over five thousand giant Evil Dragons are hunting down humans everywhere, and many kingdoms are pleading with us for reinforcements."

"So soon?"

Irene's expression shifted. She placed Little Erza back in the cradle and walked out quickly, telling the soldier, "Summon all ministers and generals to the palace for a council."

Acnologia, on the bed, had also woken up. Hearing the words outside, he knew in his heart that the time for his final battle with the Evil Dragons had arrived.

After dressing, he gave Little Erza a gentle kiss and walked out the door.

"It is time!"

He found Irene and said softly, "Take Erza to the Fiore kingdom and find Anna Heartfilia. When the Eclipse Gate opens, go to the future together."

"Do even you lack confidence in winning?"

Irene's heart trembled. Although she didn't know what the Eclipse Gate was, she knew Acnologia was telling her and their daughter to flee.

Acnologia said solemnly, "There are too many Evil Dragons. Even I might not necessarily win. You and Little Erza are my attachments; I cannot be as reckless as I was before."

After all, he was no longer the King of Evil he once was. With attachments, a person becomes weak, and even he was no exception.

"Don't worry! Once you leave, I will have no more weaknesses. No matter how many Evil Dragons there are, they will not be able to defeat me!"

He reached out and pulled Irene into an embrace, whispering tenderly in her ear, "Go. I will create a peaceful and beautiful future for you and Little Erza!"

Irene looked up, her face already covered in tears. "You must stay alive. If you aren't there, I would rather not have that future, no matter how beautiful it is!"

Acnologia looked into Irene's eyes and smiled with absolute confidence. "Rest assured, I am the King of Evil Dragons, the Black Wings of the End. This Era of Evil Dragons is destined to be ended by me!"

"As for the Dragnof Kingdom, there is no longer a need to keep holding on. In this moment of life and death, let everyone flee!"

The two spoke at length. Under Acnologia's repeated assurances, Irene wept piteously. Despite the pain and reluctance, for the sake of Little Erza, she ultimately chose to leave and head for the Fiore kingdom.

Acnologia pulled back his thoughts and returned to the throne in the palace.

His gaze seemed to pierce through thousands of miles to those thousands of Evil Dragons, his pupils reflecting a cold and tyrannical killing intent.

Evil Dragons, have you prepared yourselves for death?

..."All forces, assemble!!"

Following countless powerful shouts, soldiers quickly converged from all directions. Their steps were firm and strong, as if the earth itself were trembling.

In an instant, the sound of war drums and horns rose one after another, and the entire kingdom was stirred into a frenzy.

The soldiers quickly formed neat phalanxes, their armor flashing with a cold light under the sun, every man's gaze filled with determination.

Behind them were countless ordinary people, their eyes flickering with doubt and confusion.

Since there was no attack from Evil Dragons, why were so many people being assembled?

Acnologia stood on high, looking down at everyone. His voice was calm yet it reached every corner of the capital.

"At this time, I will inform you of the state of the Human-Dragon War. The strongest human nation, the Phylos Kingdom, along with its seven surrounding nations, has been completely destroyed. All the Good Dragons standing on the side of humanity are dead!"

"How is that possible?"

"Are we humans going to lose?"

"Impossible! The Phylos Kingdom gathered most of the alliance's Dragon Slayer Mages. How could it fall?"

Ignoring the panicked and chaotic voices below, Acnologia continued, "This is the truth, and our Dragnof Kingdom has also reached its moment of life and death."

"No matter how strong I am, I am ultimately just one person. I cannot protect all of you!"

"Your only chance of survival now is to abandon the Dragnof Kingdom and flee. Flee as far as you can, away from this war zone."

"And as for the soldiers of the kingdom, you must flee as well. Most of you are Mages, and your chances of escaping are greater than those of the common people. Perhaps in the future, you can even rebuild the Dragnof Kingdom."

"Alright, that is all I have to say."

Acnologia turned his back and said indifferently, "Whether you flee as a group or alone, just get out of here and save your lives. As for the kingdom's food and riches, take whatever you want."

"The Dragnof Kingdom ends here!"
