Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Ur and Gray

This was originally a once peaceful and harmonious town, but now, because of the descent of the demon Deliora, it has been completely reduced to ruins.

All the villagers fled in terror; amidst the broken walls and debris, flames burned fiercely in the night sky, reflecting endless fear and despair.

A young boy ran behind Deliora, watching the massive demon destroy the village with reckless abandon, his eyes filled with intense hatred.

It was this demon that had destroyed his home and killed his father and mother; today, he was going to have his revenge.

He slammed his right fist into his left palm, and a blue-patterned magic circle expanded: "Ice-Make Magic: Ice Lance!"

Boom!

Several streams of icy light shot through the air, striking Deliora's back with force, instantly covering a section of it in ice.

However, his magic power was too weak, and the condensed ice was extremely fragile; in less than a second, it was shattered by Deliora.

Roar!

Deliora let out a furious roar, the terrifying sound waves blowing the flames and knocking young Gray to the ground.

"Damn it!"

Young Gray quickly scrambled up, his large eyes showing anger and fear, as he couldn't help but doubt in his heart: could he really defeat this monster?

Before he could think further, Deliora was already walking toward him with heavy steps. To the demon, a mere human child wasn't even worth using magic on; it intended to simply crush him under a single toe.

At that moment, a short-haired woman rushed in front of him, reaching out to shield young Gray behind her.

"Ur? Why are you here?"

When young Gray had left, he told Ur that he would never learn magic from someone like her again. He had said such hurtful words, so why did she still come to save him?

"And me!"

A silver-haired child jumped out from behind Ur, a smile on his face.

"Lyon, you guys..." Young Gray's eyes filled with tears, his heart moved beyond words.

But he still forced himself to say, "I'll take my own revenge, you guys leave!"

Ur looked at the terrifying demon approaching step by step, her expression more solemn than ever: "Now is not the time for this. The demon's magic is extraordinary; be careful."

"Ice-Make: Rose Garden!"

She cast her magic, a life-sized blue magic circle expanding beside her. A blast of ice shot out, freezing the ground and extending all the way to Deliora's head, freezing it into an ice flower.

But before she could breathe a sigh of relief, Deliora shattered the ice and threw its head back, laughing: "Mere human magic thinks it can oppose a demon?"

A green roar erupted, instantly shattering all the ice.

Ur's expression changed slightly as an ice pillar rose beneath her feet, propelling her away. The green beam of light grazed her body, pulverizing all the buildings in its path and turning them into a sea of fire.

"So fast!!!"

Cold sweat broke out on her forehead. If she hadn't dodged just in time, she would have certainly been heavily injured. This monster was much stronger than she had imagined.

Meanwhile, young Gray and young Lyon had no time to react and were directly sent flying by the terrifying shockwave.

Ur saw the intense fear on young Gray's face as he lay on the ground and said urgently, "What are you two still standing there for? Leave quickly! This isn't a battle you can participate in."

Young Gray looked up at the rampaging Deliora, his eyes filled with unease and despair. Facing such a terrifying monster, he was even beginning to lose the courage to act.

No!

How could I be afraid!

Ur looked at Gray's stubborn expression and felt helpless in her heart. This silly child—there was no need to be in such a hurry for revenge; it wouldn't be too late to seek it once he had the power to resist.

She sighed and stepped toward Deliora: "Gray, as your teacher, I will help you one last time. Don't be so impulsive in the future."

Young Gray saw the resolve for death in Ur and suddenly became panicked and lost, his face covered in tears: "Don't go! Ur, don't go! I don't want revenge anymore, just come back!"

"It's fine. As a human Mage, even if there were no personal grudge, I wouldn't let this rampaging demon go. This isn't just for you!"

Ur knew that if she didn't explain, her death would likely cause Gray immense guilt, and he might even live his whole life in painful regret, just like herself.

However, she was indeed doing it for Gray. To anyone who dared to harm her beloved disciple, even if it were a demon, she would dare to risk her life.

Young Lyon's face showed unease, and he couldn't help but tremble: "Ur, you're the strongest Mage, you can definitely defeat the demon!"

"I'm not the strongest Mage; perhaps invincibility itself doesn't exist."

Ur said with a light smile, "Lyon, one day, you must go out and see the world; you'll find it's much broader than you imagine."

Young Lyon's eyes widened as he argued loudly, "Impossible! Ur must be the strongest!"

"Let me defeat that monster!"

He quickly ran past Ur to the front, stopping not far from Deliora. He crossed his arms in front of him, and a massive ice magic circle expanded beneath his feet as terrifying cold air rose.

Ur saw Lyon's starting stance and her expression changed drastically: "Stop!"

With a sharp shout, she waved her hand and instantly froze Lyon. Anyone who used this magic would be eternally frozen by the ice themselves; she absolutely did not want Lyon to use this move.

"Better let me do it!" She exhaled softly and then stepped forward.

Young Gray's heart pounded as he let out a frantic cry: "Ur, no! Don't go!"

But how could Ur stop now? It had already come to this moment; she had to completely clear the nightmare for her disciples.

"Cursed demon, you've plagued the world for long enough. It ends here!"

A cold smile appeared on Ur's face. In an instant, six massive ice magic circles surrounded Deliora, and a terrifying chill spread out.

"Iced Shell!"

With a furious roar, the ice magic circles exploded, and the entire space was covered in white light, making it impossible to see anything.

When the icy mist cleared, Deliora had been completely turned into an ice sculpture, while Ur's body was also gradually being frozen and becoming ethereal.

She looked at the weeping Gray nearby and said in a gentle voice, "Gray, your nightmare ends here. I will turn into ice and be permanently frozen here."

"Don't tell Lyon that this ice is me, otherwise he'll waste his life trying to dispel this magic. You two still have a brighter future!"

"My journey in this world is over. Now, I'm going to the other world to be with my daughter..."

She seemed to see her daughter running toward her, happily calling out 'Mama,' and tears unconsciously flowed from the corners of her eyes: "I owe her too much..."

Her final voice gradually faded, and Ur disappeared, leaving only a massive transparent block of ice.

Young Gray had already fallen to his knees, sobbing uncontrollably as endless pain and regret enveloped his entire body.

If it weren't for him, Ur wouldn't have died!

He was the one who deserved to die most!

Why!

Why take away all of his beloved family!

Why!

Just as he was crying his heart out, a giant eye suddenly opened in the sky, stretching across tens of thousands of meters like the Eye of the Heavenly Dao, looking down upon the world.

The surviving villagers collapsed to the ground in terror. What was that?

The Eye of the Firmament?

Young Gray let out a sob and stared blankly at the giant eye, as if a voice had sounded in his ear.

"The timing is just right!"
