Chapter 114 - chapter 111 : Happy birthday

Hey buddies how are you?

I'm back with....umm... something that was on demand and for which I had listen to soooo many beautiful curse.

I'm not sure if this is what is called a 18 + chapter.

I've tried my best to write as much I can but..

Still maintaining my innocence.

I know I didn't wrote anything in too much details....but still crossed 7200 words.

I hope u guys like the chapter...

Eight months later.

Keifer stirred in his sleep, his hand instinctively reaching out and tapping the cool sheets beside him on the bed.

"Jay..."

her name escaped his mouth like a quiet, desperate prayer even before he could fully open his eyes, searching for the familiar, comforting warmth that was suddenly missing from his side.

When his palm met nothing but empty linen, his eyes snapped open instantly.

He sat up, frantically looking around the space for Jay...

but as the heavy fog of sleep slowly cleared from his mind,

a sharp realization hit him like a bucket of ice water.

This isn't my room.

He paused, scanning every corner of his surroundings with wide, alert eyes.

It looked like a bedroom, but it was considerably smaller, much dimmer, and entirely unfamiliar compared to his own sunlit master suite back home.

A sudden, violent wave of panic surged right through his chest, making his breath catch in his throat.

Where is Jay?

Where are Mom and Dad?

Where is Soph?

The sudden silence of the building felt suffocating.

Tucking his feet onto the floor, he went into full high-alert mode.

Keeping his eyes locked onto the closed wooden door, he stood up on quiet feet, stepped over to the handle, and slowly pulled it open into the quiet corridor.

"Jayyy...?"

he called out, his voice tight with rising tension.

A dark flight of stairs stretched out just a few paces ahead.

Setting his jaw, he started heading down, calling out for Jay with every single step.

But the more his cries echoed into the empty air without a response, the more his anxiety violently spiked.

His cautious, deliberate walk rapidly turned into a full-blown sprint down the steps.

He burst onto the ground floor, his heart hammering against his ribs like a sledgehammer, but everything around him was enveloped in pitch darkness.

"Jayyyyy...!" he called out in pure, unadulterated panic.

Before he could take another frantic step forward into the dark-

BLAST!

BLAST!

"HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYYYYYYY, KEIFERRRRRRR!!"

The overhead lights flicked on all at once, blinding him for a split second.

Keifer's jaw dropped in absolute, speechless shock.

Standing right in front of him, clustered around a massive, beautifully decorated cake, was his entire family alongside Cheska, Percy, and Aries, all cheering and waving party poppers with giant, triumphant grins on their faces.

Keifer stood frozen for a beat, processing the scene.

He squeezed his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose,

letting out a breathy, small laugh of pure relief as he finally realized he had been completely set up.

Walking over to the crowd, his mother was the first to step forward, pulling him into a warm, tight, smothering embrace.

"Happy birthday, anak!"

His dad stepped up right beside her, giving him a firm, heavy, proud slap on the back.

"Happy birthday, young man."

Sophia slid in next with a bright grin, wrapping her arms around his side for a playful hug.

"Happy birthday, kuya!"

Keifer pulled back slightly, raising a skeptical eyebrow down at her.

"Wow, kuya?

You finally remembered I'm older than you?"

Sophia gave him a swift, playful punch on the shoulder, making the rest of the family burst into amused laughter.

Aries and Percy stepped up next, pulling him into their classic, energetic bro-handshakes.

"Happy birthday, man!"

Finally, Keifer's eyes drifted past the group and locked squarely onto Jay.

She was standing just a few feet away, her eyes sparkling with affectionate warmth as she watched him interact with everyone.

He closed the distance between them, walking straight up to her.

"Happy birthday,"

she said softly, her voice sweet and gentle.

Then, her lips twitched as she tilted her head with a flash of pure mischief.

"...hubby."

Keifer let out a low chuckle, folding his arms across his bare chest.

"Oh, that's okay, thankyou so much but where's my gift?"

"Umm... gift..."

Jay muttered, biting her lower lip as if contemplating her options.

Before he could tease her any further, she suddenly tiptoed up,

wrapped a hand around his nape, and stole a quick, deliberate, soft peck right from his lips-

right in front of the entire audience.

Keifer's eyes went wide in total surprise.

But a split second later, a wide, helpless smile broke across his face as a deep,

undeniable flush of red crept all the way from his neck up to the very tips of his ears.

Before he could even open his mouth to speak-

"HOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

The entire room erupted into wild, deafening hooting and cheering.

"Wow, look at him!

See, he's actually blushing!"

Percy yelled, pointing at him like a madman.

Everyone burst into loud, hysterical laughter at his expense.

Trying desperately to regain his composure and brush off the heat in his cheeks,

Keifer cleared his throat and looked around the unfamiliar building once more.

"By the way... where are we?"

"Umm..."

Percy smirked, stepping past him toward the grand main entrance.

He grabbed the handles and pulled the double doors wide open,

unlocking a view of a vast, brilliant turquoise ocean and endless golden sand sparkling under the sun.

"The beach?"

Keifer asked, stepping closer to gaze out at the crashing waves.

Everyone turned to look at each other, identical devious, conspiratorial smirks spreading across their faces.

Keifer raised a suspicious brow, looking from his brothers to his parents.

"An island?"

Everyone showed their teeth in a giant, collective grin.

"Happy birthday..."

Mr. and Mrs. Watson stepped forward together, holding out an official leather folder containing the deed to a private island.

"Mom...?"

Keifer asked, staring down at the papers in disbelief.

"Don't argue, son.

It's for you and your wife,"

his mom whispered into his ear with a sly wink.

"You know... for happy romance."

Keifer's neck flared a bright, vivid red as he coughed into his hand, trying to hide his flustered reaction.

"Right... but how did you guys even bring me here?

It's already afternoon!

As far as I remember, I fell asleep around 1 AM after finishing some office work yesterday.

How was I asleep for this long?"

"Ahem..."

Aries cleared his throat, suddenly finding the ceiling extremely interesting.

"Actually, there are two reasons,"

Sophia offered with a sheepish, guilty smile.

Keifer narrowed his eyes, raising a brow at her.

"Which are?"

"First, you slept so deeply because you were sleeping on your wife's lap the whole time,"

Sophia revealed playfully, instantly making Jay's cheeks burn as she ducked her head behind Keifer's shoulder.

"And second?"

Keifer pressed, shifting his suspicious gaze straight to his brothers.

"Umm... I think we should keep that one a secret,"

Aries muttered, completely looking away from him.

Keifer made a deeply suspicious face, taking a step forward.

"Tell me clearly.

What did you guys do?"

"I think we should start the party!"

Percy blurted out loudly, desperately trying to divert the topic before he caved.

Before Keifer could demand any more answers,

the whole family immediately burst into a chaotic, extra-loud chorus of

"Happy Birthday to You!",

physically surrounding him and pushing him toward the central table to cut the cake.

Giving up for the moment, Keifer let out a fond sigh and finally dropped the topic with a shake of his head.

Side-by-side, Keifer and Jay held the knife together, slicing into the massive cake as the room filled with cheers, applause, and a barrage of photo clicks.

The rest of the day dissolved into pure bliss-they danced, pulled each other into the crashing ocean waves, stuffed themselves with food, and celebrated under the golden sun, completely enveloped in the warmth of their family and the quiet, secure love they shared.

**

It was deep into the night, the darkness stretched wide over the quiet waters around the island.

The entire family was completely worn out after a relentless day of celebrating under the blazing sun.

Between the dancing, swimming, and endless teasing, everyone had reached their limit, and it was finally decided that it was time to head back home.

The rest of the group-

his parents, Sophia, Aries, Percy, and Cheska-

had already retreated back to the main luxury yacht, settles into their cabins and went back to the mainland.

Keifer and Jay were just about to step onto the narrow wooden plank leading to their own private yacht when a voice called out through the dark.

"Sir..."

The captain hurried over, his face pale and apologetic under the deck lights.

"Yes?"

Keifer paused, turning his head as his hand instinctively stayed hovering near Jay's back.

"I'm afraid we can't head back right now."

Keifer's brows instantly knit together in confusion.

"Why?

What happened?"

"There's a sudden technical issue with the engine, sir,"

the captain explained sheepishly, wiping his brow.

"It's going to take some time to fix, and it's unsafe to set sail until we clear it."

"What?"

Keifer's corporate tone kicked in immediately, his posture tightening.

"But we don't even have anything left on the island.

Not even a spare pair of clothes. We left everything packed for the mainland."

"I am really, deeply sorry, sir, but we don't have any other option tonight."

Keifer crossed his arms, staring down the crew member.

"Then just call someone from the main harbor and ask for another vessel or transport to come pick us up."

"Actually... it's getting very windy because of the incoming weather, and the internet and radio connections are extremely weak out here right now.

I can't reach the mainland."

"But-"

Keifer started, his frustration mounting.

"It's okay, Keifer,"

Jay cut in softly, placing a warm, reassuring hand on his forearm.

"Let's just stay here for the night.

What can he do if the engine is down anyway?

Besides, it's nice here.

We can manage somehow in these clothes and just go back early tomorrow morning once the storm passes."

Keifer looked down at her, meeting her calm eyes, and let out a long, heavy sigh.

"If you're really okay with it... then fine,"

he muttered, deflating slightly.

"Thank you, sir,"

the captain bowed with immense relief and hurried back to the control cabin.

Keifer turned back to Jay and gently held out his hand to her.

She offered him a small, bright smile, taking his warm fingers in hers.

Side by side, they turned around and started heading back toward the house, their footsteps sinking slowly into the cool, dark sand along the shore.

They were walking slowly, taking in the serene, quiet atmosphere of the island at night, but then-

SPLASH!

BANG!

"Oh, shit!"

they both yelled at the exact same fraction of a second as a massive, heavy downpour suddenly burst open from the night sky, pounding down on them without a single warning.

"Run!"

Keifer barked, grabbing her hand tighter.

They sprinted toward the covered wooden terrace as fast as their feet could push through the sand, bursting under the shelter of the overhang-

but by the time they hit the dry wood, it was far too late.

They were both completely, thoroughly drenched in rainwater from head to toe.

"Oh, god..."

Jay muttered in disbelief, pulling her soaked, heavy dress away from her skin as she stared down at her ruined outfit.

Because his parents and the family had bought and arranged the island as a last-minute, chaotic birthday gift, no one had actually had the time to stock the wardrobes or supply rooms with dry personal belongings or spare clothes yet.

"What now?"

Keifer said, his eyes scanning her trembling shoulders.

"Like this, you're definitely going to catch a cold."

In sheer frustration, he pulled out his phone, clicking his tongue as he attempted to dial his personal assistant.

He walked back and forth under the shelter, raising the phone to his ear, but every single time he tried, the call simply failed to connect, yielding nothing but static.

"Keifer... it's okay,"

Jay said gently, stepping up to him and resting her hand over his phone arm to bring it down.

"Let's just go inside and check once.

What if we just find something left behind in a cabinet?

Of course we don't have any other choice right now."

He let out another resigned sigh, putting his useless phone into his wet pocket.

"Fine... what else can we even do?"

They walked back into the silent main house, methodically opening every single wardrobe, storage closet, and bathroom vanity they passed along the main halls.

After searching almost the entire building with zero luck,

Keifer and Jay finally ended up back in the exact same bedroom where Keifer had woken up earlier that afternoon.

Jay stood near the center of the room, her wet hair clinging to her cheeks, looking utterly exhausted.

Keifer stepped over to the main tall wardrobe, pulling the double doors open wide to inspect the empty shelves one last time.

"Oh, god! You guys are making the birthday boy work way too much today,"

he grumbled playfully, slamming the tall doors closed with a dull thud.

He turned around, his eyes locking onto Jay-

and a sudden, wicked, dangerous smirk slowly crept onto his face.

"Also..."

Before Jay could even process the sudden shift in his energy,

Keifer closed the distance between them in two large strides.

He grabbed her waist, spinning her around and caging her securely against the hard wardrobe door.

Her back pressed flat against the wood, and her breath instantly hitched in her throat as his tall, shadow-draped frame towered over her, completely blocking out the room.

"...you didn't even give me my afternoon kiss..."

he completed his sentence softly, his dark, heavy gaze fixed entirely on her slightly parted, wet lips.

Jay bit her lower lip hard, feeling her heart suddenly racing like crazy against her ribs under the sheer intensity of his eyes.

Keifer slowly leaned in, his head tilting down to close the final inch between them...

but right before his mouth could touch hers-

"Achoo!"

(Ok curse me! 😶)

She sneezed right into his chest.

Keifer froze mid-air, blinking slowly, before letting out a completely defeated sigh and resting his forehead against her wet shoulder for a second.

"Let's just first find some dry clothes for you,"

he muttered, a mix of affection and slight annoyance in his voice.

Jay squeezed her eyes shut, desperately pressing a hand over her mouth to control the giggles bubbling up in her chest.

He turn his head, giving her a glare with raised eyebrow, making her shut.

He roll his eyes.

Giving up on the mood, they both walked straight into the attached bathroom to check the deep counter vanity.

Jay crouched down on her knees to search through the lower drawers,

while Keifer stretched up to sift through the upper cabinets.

Suddenly, Jay's eyes caught a glimpse of something tucked way in the back corner of the bottom wooden shelf.

"Keifer! Keifer!

See, I found something!"

she squealed in pure excitement, her face lighting up.

He immediately abandoned the top cabinet and came over to stand right behind her.

Jay instantly pulled the folded fabric from the deep corner, spinning around and triumphantly waving the clothes right in front of Keifer's face with a wide, proud grin.

It was a crisp, oversized white button-down shirt and a single pair of dark men's jeans.

...But her proud grin completely vanished the very second she noticed the slow, dangerously teasing smirk spreading across his face.

A wave of blazing heat instantly crawled all the way up her neck and into her cheeks.

She realized it the exact moment his eyes flicked from the shirt down to the pants-

it was just a shirt and a single pair of pants.....Nothing else.

"Umm... c-clothes..."

Jay gestured awkwardly toward the single shirt and jeans in her hands, her voice shrinking under pure embarrassment.

"Yeah... clothes,"

he teased shamelessly, crossing his arms over his chest and looking down at her.

Jay gulped hard, her eyes darting everywhere around the bathroom except at his smiling face.

She hurriedly set the dark jeans down onto the marble stand beside him.

"H-here it is... I... I'll go change somewhere else!"

She muttered the words in a frantic rush and practically sprinted out of the bathroom with the oversized white shirt clutched tightly against her chest.

Keifer watched her flee the room, letting out a low, amused chuckle as he reached up and rubbed the back of his neck, his heart full.

Slipping into the dry denim pants, he walked out of the bedroom, waiting for Jay to finish changing.

He stood there clad in nothing but those low-slung jeans, his upper body completely bare to the cool night air.

The dim light traced every cut of his broad shoulders and sculpted chest,

while stray droplets of water slid lazily down his damp torso, clinging to the ridges of his abs.

His dark hair was still glistening wet, a tiny drop hanging suspended near his eyelashes-

the picture-perfect embodiment of a fictional hero stepped right off a page.

(😮‍💨 Fictional...)

Having already set up a warm bonfire near the poolside,

he made a quick detour to the kitchen counter to grab a few leftover bags of marshmallows and snacks.

"Thank God at least these are left,"

he muttered softly to himself, ripping open a bag of popcorn.

He casually tossed a kernel up into the air, tilting his head back to catch it-

but mid-movement, his eyes froze.

The popcorn came back and hit his own forehead.

Over by the staircase, a soft rustle of fabric echoed through the dark room.

She was coming down the stairs.

She was wearing his crisp white shirt,

the oversized hem falling gracefully down her thighs.

Her damp hair was swept over one shoulder in a dark, silky wave, with a few soft locks clinging delicately to her forehead as she watched her step.

Her small, delicate fingers nervously twitched at the hem of the shirt, a tiny, unconscious smile resting on her lips.

Keifer stopped breathing entirely.

His lips parted slightly as his heart executed a wild, violent flip inside his chest.

His gaze slowly, helplessly scanned her from head to toe, utterly paralyzed by the sight of her in his clothes.

Sensings his intense gaze, Jay looked up-and her eyes locked onto his.

Her steps faltered.

Her eyes traveled from his damp, bare shoulders down across his broad chest, catching every drop of water tracing his abs.

Keifer couldn't even bring himself to blink.

A fierce wave of heat instantly crept up Jay's neck, flooding her cheeks with a deep blush.

She unconsciously bit her lower lip, trying to steady her fluttering breath as she walked the rest of the way down the steps toward her husband-

who was still standing entirely frozen like a statue, having not blinked once in the past five minutes.

"Keifer...?"

his name came out of her lips like a soft, tentative whisper, searching his face.

Her voice pulled his eyes up, but instead of her face, his dark gaze settled squarely on her wet, soft, trembling lower lip.

"...Fire..."

the word escaped his mouth completely unconsciously, his voice a low, raspy rumble.

Jay blinked, tilting her head.

"Huh?"

"Ah!"

Keifer suddenly snapped out of his trance, jumping slightly as his brain finally caught up.

"I... I mean, the bonfire!

Yes, the bonfire is outside near the pool.

Yo-You need that to warm up...

I... I'll bring something to eat."

He blurted out the sentence in a frantic rush, hastily turning his head away.

His heart was hammering against his ribs like a war drum, a deep, flaming flush spreading rapidly across his face and ears.

Jay offered a shy nod and turned around to walk toward the glass doors leading to the patio.

The moment her back was turned, Keifer's eyes utterly betrayed him.

His gaze slid right back down, traveling helplessly over her smooth, bare legs and her delicate feet treading softly across the cool floor toward the outdoor terrace-

she was entirely, blissfully unaware of the roaring fire she had just ignited inside him.

"Control, Keifer... control..."

he muttered under his breath, taking a sharp, heavy gulp.

He rested his forehead against the cool marble wall of the kitchen, closing his eyes as he tried to extinguish the chaos raging inside him.

"You have to control yourself, Keifer.

She trusts you..."

he whispered to himself, taking a long, steadying breath until his racing heart somewhat slowed down.

A few minutes later, holding a bowl of snacks and the marshmallows, he stepped outside-

only to regret it instantly.

She was sitting by the edge of the poolside bonfire.

The warm amber glow of the fire crackled over her face, perfectly blended with the soft silvery moonlight above.

Her damp hair fell wildly over her shoulder,

her subtle reflection dancing in the clear pool water beside her.

But it was the quiet, private smile resting on her lips-

the kind she only wore when she thought no one was watching-

that did something so profound to his heart, something he was almost terrified to fully admit.

He inhaled softly, stepping closer

to her across the warm tiles.

"Jay..."

he called out gently, passing the bowl to her.

She looked up, a sweet, breathtaking smile gracing her lips as she took it from him.

Keifer sat down a deliberate distance away from her, staring fixedly into the crackling flames to avoid looking her way.

But he failed miserably, his eyes helplessly stealing glance after glance at her profile.

Standing there bare-chested under the open sky, he suddenly felt like the exact same nervous boy who was still gathering the courage to confess his feelings to her two and half years ago.

The air between them grew thick with a sudden, suffocating tension.

Jay couldn't stop biting her lower lip, her cheeks burning as she tried her absolute best not to stare at his bare, sculpted chest and broad shoulders.

For the first time in months, Keifer couldn't even bring himself to tease her.

Taking a long wooden skewer, he carefully roasted a few marshmallows over the fire until they turned golden brown.

He placed them onto a small wooden side table between them and started roasting another batch.

"Jay..."

he gestured quietly toward the plate, letting her know they were ready.

She tried reaching for the table while staying seated,

but because Keifer had placed himself so far away to keep his inner storm at bay, it was just out of her reach.

Seeing her struggle,

Keifer immediately stood up to hand them to her.

But as he stepped over and reached down for the plate, Jay stood up at the exact same time, her fingers reaching out too.

Their skin brushed-

just a light, feather-soft touch of their fingers over the wooden plate.

Yet both of them yanked their hands back instantly,

as if a sudden, intense electric shock had shot through their veins.

They froze, staring at each other in the firelight.

The ocean breeze quieted down around them, leaving only the sound of crackling wood and their own uneven breathing.

"Jay..."

he called out softly, his voice a low, raspy velvet.

"Huh?"

she whispered, her heart pounding against her ribs.

Keifer looked into her wide, glossy eyes.

"We're married... for more than eighteen months now."

"I... I know,"

she admitted, a wave of sheer embarrassment flushing her neck.

He let out a low, breathless chuckle, his dark gaze softening as he looked down at her flushed face.

"Then why are we behaving like teenage lovers on a first date?"

"I... I don't know..."

she whispered, biting her lip again and ducking her head to hide her face.

"Maybe..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Keifer leaned down. His fingers picked up a perfectly warm, golden marshmallow from the wooden plate.

"I know..."

he murmured softly.

He stepped closer, extending his hand and offering the sweet treat directly to her lips.

Jay looked from his hand up into his deep, intense dark eyes, where a fire far hotter than the bonfire burned.

Slowly, her lips parted.

She leaned in and captured the marshmallow gently between her teeth right from his fingertips.

Before she could pull back to chew it, Keifer's free hand snaked around her waist.

With a swift, smooth pull, he drew her flush against his bare chest.

The entire world ground to a sudden halt.

Jay's breath hitched violently,

her heart stopping in her chest, her eyes wide and her cheeks burning a crimson red.

She felt the searing, intoxicating heat radiating off his bare skin just inches away from her.

His dark, emotion-filled eyes slowly flicked between her wide gaze and the half-eaten marshmallow still pressed softly between her lips,

his grip on her waist tightening just enough to leave no space between them at all.

He leaned in closer,

close enough that she felt almost dizzy from the scorching heat of his breath against her skin.

His grip on her waist tightened, drawing her impossibly flush against him.

Slowly, almost on instinct, Jay's hands traveled up his smooth, bare chest, her eyes helplessly dropping to his lips.

"Jay... baby... please stop me,"

he whispered, his voice thick and almost begging as he locked his gaze directly onto hers.

She looked up into his dark eyes, finding nothing but absolute sincerity, overwhelming love, and unwavering loyalty staring back at her.

Instead of pulling away,

Jay let her gaze drop back down to his mouth.

She reached up, hooking her hand around his bare shoulder, and pulled him down into her.

His lips met the remaining half of the marshmallow still pressed between her teeth.

That was the final straw.

Keifer's eyes met hers one last time before his mind went entirely blank.

His lips claimed the rest of the sweet treat, taking it inside as he pressed his mouth fully against hers.

The entire world vanished around them.

He deepened the kiss instantly, and Jay met him with the exact same roaring fire.

It wasn't a gentle, timid kiss-it was wild, passionate, and delightfully messy.

Their lips moved together in a feverish sync,

Jay's nails digging deep into his broad shoulders and slipping up to clutch the hair at his nape, pulling his head down to keep him close.

Keifer's hands dug securely into her waist before sliding down to her hips,

his strong fingers gripping her tightly as he devoured her mouth.

He bit her lower lip,

pulling a soft, breathy moan from her chest.

"Mmm..."

Jay tilted her head, parting her lips willingly as his tongue slipped past her teeth.

She bit his tongue playfully, her other hand sliding down his damp torso to yank him even closer.

"Ugh..."

a low groan rumbled deep in Keifer's chest right against her mouth.

A breathless smirk touched his lips as their tongues collided and entangled in a reckless, intoxicating dance.

Completely lost in one another, their tangled steps blindly stumbled across the slick tiles near the edge of the pool.

Keifer's left arm remained firmly wrapped around her slender waist,

while his right hand cupped her jaw, deepening the breathless assault of his mouth.

They captured each other's lips

Again

Again

Again

Again

Again

Finally, they tore their lips apart for air.

His hands rested heavily on her hips while hers remained pressed flat against his pounding chest.

They leaned in, resting their foreheads together, both breathing in hard, ragged gasps into the cool night air.

Slowly, Keifer raised his thumb, gently caressing her swollen, glossy lower lip.

"Jay..."

he whispered, his eyes squeezing tightly shut as if fighting every instinct in his body.

She looked up at his handsome, strained face.

"I-I'm begging you... please stop me..."

he rasped, his voice trembling with raw restraint.

He slowly pulled back a few inches, holding her hand tightly.

He took a small step toward her to steady them both-

Jay tried to adjust her bare feet on the stone floor, but the ground was slick with splash water.

Before her mind could even register the sudden loss of friction-

"Aaaaa!"

She slipped.

"Jay!"

Keifer lunged forward instinctively to catch her, but-

SPLASH!

They had been so completely consumed by each other that neither had realized they were standing right at the edge of the pool.

The warm water swallowed them whole before they surfaced a second later, breaking through the ripples and gasping for air.

Jay immediately wrapped one arm securely around his bare shoulder for support while using her other hand to push her wet hair back from her face.

Keifer's hand wiped the water from his own eyes,

his other arm already locked securely around her waist, keeping her effortlessly afloat beside him.

Jay wiped her eyes and looked down at herself.

The soaked, heavy white shirt was clinging tightly to her skin,

making the her fair skin beneath completely visible through the translucent wet cloth.

A sudden blush crept up her neck.

Feeling flustered, she looked down, pressing her lips together in a awkward, shy line.

Noticing her sudden shyness, Keifer's expression softened.

He reached up, his large, warm hand gently pushing a few lingering wet strands of hair away from her forehead.

Jay slowly raised her gaze.

Their eyes met under the moonlight.

As she looked deep into his dark pupils, she found no judgment-

only an infinite pool of devotion, fierce protectiveness, and a raw, breathless emotion that left her utterly speechless.

He slid his large, warm hands smoothly under her thighs, lifting her effortlessly from the water.

Swimming a few paces to the shallow end,

he hoisted her up until she was sitting on the tiled edge of the pool.

Through it all,

Jay just watched him quiet and wide-eyed.

She saw the tight strain in his jaw, the heavy rise and fall of his chest, and the desperate way he deliberately avoided her eyes-

all in an agonizing effort to protect her and keep his overwhelming desire tethered.

The moment she was safely seated, Keifer immediately turned his head away.

The wet white shirt was clinging to her skin like a thin, translucent veil, leaving practically nothing to the imagination.

"I'll go get us some towels,"

he rasped, placing a palm on the pool deck, preparing to push himself up and step out.

Before he could pull away, Jay's hand reached out, her fingers tightening around his bare shoulder.

"Keif..."

The soft, trembling sound of his name forced him to look at her. His dark eyes met hers, heavy with restraint.

"Y-You were asking me to... stop you..."

she stammered softly, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs, making him look at her.

"But... I don't want to."

Keifer froze, his breath catching in his throat.

"Jay..." he whispered, his voice laced with pure shock.

"Yes... I don't want to stop you."

"Jay, look at me,"

he said gently, trying to ground himself despite the fire raging in his veins.

"You don't need to-"

"I need to, Keifer..."

she cut him off, her gaze locking onto his with unwavering certainty.

"I need you."

Before he could process her words, Jay leaned forward, cupped his face, and crashed her lips back onto his.

The remaining thread of Keifer's sanity snapped completely.

Shock gave way to a surge of raw, unadulterated passion.

He met her with a fierce, possessive intensity, his tongue immediately parting her wet lips to reclaim her mouth.

Jay gasped into the kiss, her small hands wandering eagerly across his broad, dripping back, tracing the hard muscles beneath his skin.

Keifer's right hand slid up her bare, wet thigh, his fingers digging gently into her skin,

while his left hand cupped her jaw, tilting her head to drink her in deeper.

Without breaking the breathless kiss for even a fraction of a second,

Keifer hoisted himself out of the water.

He hovered over her, carefully pushing her back until her spine pressed flat against the cool, wet tiles of the deck, his large, solid frame entirely shadowing hers.

His mouth finally strayed from her swollen lips, trailing a line of hot, wet kisses down her jawline.

Shivers shot down Jay's spine at the searing contact.

She tilted her head back willingly, exposing the long, delicate curve of her neck to give him complete access.

Her hands slid down from his shoulders,

trailing down his broad chest and resting over the firm ridges of his abs,

committing every line and contour of his hot skin to memory.

Keifer buried his face into the side of her neck,

his lips pressing open-mouthed kisses against her feverish skin.

When his teeth lightly grazed her sensitive collar, Jay's back arched off the floor,

her nails digging hard into his torso as a sweet, helpless gasp escaped her throat.

Slowly, deliberately, Keifer's hand moved up to the top of her shirt.

His long fingers deftly undoing the first button, parting the wet fabric to reveal the glistening, smooth expanse of her collarbone under the moonlight.

His lips immediately claimed the exposed skin, sucking softly at the delicate hollow, leaving a warm, branded mark in his wake.

"Kief..."

she whimpered, her voice a desperate, breathy plea.

Her hand blindly slid down his damp torso, her fingers trailing past his waist until they brushed against the metal button of his denim pants.

The second he felt her touch there,

Keifer's hand shot down,

his warm fingers instantly capturing hers and pinning them still over his waist.

He pulled back just enough to look down at her.

Under the dim night light, she took his breath away.

Her wet, dark hair was spread out like a halo across the stone floor,

a few strands clinging to her flushed cheeks and sticking to his damp shoulders.

Her lips were parted and swollen, her heavy chest rising and falling in rapid, shallow breaths, her eyes hazy with pure devotion as she looked up at him.

He pressed her small hand softly against his waist, his voice dropping into a thick, husky, dangerous whisper that vibrated right against her chest.

"Sunshine..."

he panted, his dark eyes burning into hers.

"If you ruin this demon's control right now...

there is no turning back.

Once this happens...

I don't know if... if I'll be able to stop myself from completely ruining you."

Jay looked right up into the stormy depths of his eyes.

She didn't hesitate.

Raising her free palm, she gently rested it against his warm, strong cheek, caressing his jawline with her thumb.

"I want you..."

she whispered between her shallow, heavy breaths, her eyes locked onto his with absolute surrender.

"I want you...

every inch of you...

to ruin every inch of me... to claim every single part of me."

She completed the sentence between her shallow, heavy breaths.

He stared down at her, his dark eyes wide and searching.

Jay offered him a small, tender, completely unreserved smile-and that single gesture broke everything.

Every single thread of control he had painstakingly built over the last two years shattered into dust.

Keifer sat up in a single fluid motion.

He slid a strong arm under her lower back, hoisting her up until her wet body was pressed completely flush against his bare chest.

He crashed his lips onto hers once more, harder and deeper this time, as her hands instinctively reached up,

wrapping around his neck and tangling tightly into his dripping dark hair.

His large hands slid down under her thighs, lifting her effortlessly as she wrapped her legs securely around his waist.

Without breaking the breathless, intoxicating kiss for even a second, he carried her up off the deck.

He kicked open the heavy glass doors into the main lobby, carrying her inside.

Moving with urgent, powerful strides,

he brought her to the nearest wall, pressing her back firmly against the smooth surface.

He adjusted his hold on her, pulling his lips back just an inch to look down at her.

His eyes flicked to her wet, translucent shirt, a slow, dark smirk curving his mouth as he met her hazy, dizzy gaze.

He leaned back in, trailing the tip of his nose down the soft line of her jaw,

pausing right at the sensitive, weak spot just behind her ear before sliding down the long curve of her neck.

"Mmm..."

He drank in every sweet groan and soft moan that escaped her parted lips, the sound driving him entirely out of his mind.

His right hand traveled to her chest, his fingers hooking around the second button of her shirt and popping it open.

"Kief..."

she whispered breathlessly, burying her burning face into the crook of his neck, her arms tightening around his broad shoulders like a vice.

"Baby girl... just wait a bit more,"

he murmured low against her skin, his deep voice vibrating right through her core.

Jay pulled her head back, her heavy eyes dropping straight to his swollen, glossy lips.

Before he could even react, she leaned forward and captured his lower lip firmly between her teeth, pulling a low, rumbling growl from his chest.

Tightening his iron grip around her waist and thighs,

he carried her away from the wall and navigated down the dimly lit hallway toward the master bedroom.

They crossed the threshold without breaking the feverish kiss for a single second.

Keifer kicked the heavy wooden door shut behind them with his foot, the lock clicking shut in the quiet room.

The space was bathed in a soft, low amber glow, casting long, intimate shadows across the floor.

Pulling his mouth away for air, Keifer gently set her down to sit on the edge of a high wooden vanity table.

He stepped between her parted knees, looking down at her breathtaking, breathless face.

Her head was tilted back slightly, her chest heaving, her expression entirely consumed by pleasure and surrender.

Keifer's grip on her waist tightened as he took her hand, guiding her fingers down until they rested squarely against the metal button of his denim pants.

At the exact same time, his own hand reached up to the next button of her wet white shirt.

"You want this?"

he asked, his dark eyes locking onto hers with a fierce, raw intensity that made her heart leap into her throat.

She nodded with a gulp, her breath catching in her chest.

Keifer's hands trembled slightly against the wet fabric of her shirt, his composure hanging by a single thread.

"Words, sunshine..."

he whispered huskily.

"Yes..."

she whispered back, her voice thick with pure devotion.

"Then do it."

He commanded it softly, and Jay didn't hesitate.

Her fingers worked quickly, undoing the top button of his pants and unzipping them, letting the heavy denim loosen and slide down his hips.

As her gaze naturally started to drop downward,

Keifer caught her chin, his warm palm resting gently against her flushed cheek to hold her gaze up.

"Not this early, sunshine..."

he whispered with a low, wicked smirk.

While keeping his dark eyes completely locked onto hers,

his long fingers worked deftly down the center of her top, popping open every single remaining button of her wet shirt one by one.

Keeping his eyes entirely locked with hers, his long fingers deftly worked their way down the row, popping open every last button of her shirt until the wet fabric parted completely down the front.

His warm, calloused hand slid through the opening near her waist,

his palm pressing directly against her bare, heated skin.

As his fingers smoothed over the dip of her hip,

a sudden wave of sharp, electrical shivers shot straight down her spine.

He leaned in close, his lips brushing the sensitive curve of her ear shell, his breath scorching hot against her skin.

"Just tell me once...

and I'll stop,"

he whispered, the sheer reverence in his voice catching her completely off guard.

Slowly, deliberately, his fingers began to travel around to her back-

sliding toward the long, faded scar that rested there.

The moment his fingertips grazed the edge of the tissue,

Jay's breath hitched sharply in her chest.

Her eyes squeezed tightly shut as her fingers instinctively dug into his broad shoulders, clutching him with a sudden, desperate force.

His hand traveled upward along the path of the scar, tenderly caressing every inch of the skin.

With every inch his palm covered, her heart pounded louder and faster-

not from the touch itself, but from the sudden, phantom echo of old fear trying to claw its way back to the surface.

Keifer felt the tension locking her muscles.

The moment his hand reached the top of the mark, having caressed the full length of it with absolute gentleness, he pulled his hand away.

He leaned back just enough to look down at her face,

watching her tight, guarded expression and her closed eyes with a quiet, patient understanding.

He reached up, his warm palm softly cupping her flushed cheek, his thumb smoothing over her skin in a silent, grounding gesture.

Gradually, the tension in her shoulders began to melt.

Jay slowly opened her eyes.

She looked up into the deep, dark depths of Keifer's gaze-

finding no pity, no judgment, only endless love, safety, and worship.

A sweet, radiant smile slowly bloomed across her lips.

And right there, in the quiet dimness of that room,

that smile was the ultimate proof

-she had finally, completely defeated the ghosts of her past.

A breathless smile touched Keifer's own lips before he leaned down and crashed his mouth back onto hers.

Jay instantly responded with the exact same fierce, liberated energy, her arms wrapping around his neck to pull him impossibly close.

Without breaking the feverish rhythm of the kiss,

his hands worked with smooth urgency.

He pulled the wet, heavy white shirt off her shoulders, sliding it down her arms until it fell away entirely, landing with a soft, forgotten thud on the floor.

Her heart skipped a wild beat at the sudden vulnerability, but as her bare skin pressed against his warm torso, a profound sense of absolute safety washed over her. She was home.

Keifer tightened his powerful grip around her waist and hips.

Still devouring her lips, he lifted her effortlessly off the wooden table and carried her the few short steps to the master bed,

her legs wrapped around his waist.

He lowered her down gently until her back sank into the soft, cool mattress, his tall, broad frame hovering over her.

Now, with all the barriers stripped away, they lay entirely exposed to one another.

Their lips finally parted, leaving them both gasping for air in the dim, amber-lit room.

Keifer leaned back on his elbows, his dark, worshipful gaze slowly drinking in every curve of her body,

taking in the beauty of the woman who held his entire soul.

Jay's eyes traveled up his bare, wet chest, mapping the strong lines of his broad shoulders and hard abs,

admiring the man who had protected her heart so fiercely.

Their eyes met once more in the quiet space between them.

A quiet, shared smile passed between them-a silent contract of trust, love, and utter surrender.

And as the storm raged softly outside the island villa,

the rest of the night melted away in a seamless haze of tangled limbs,

shared breaths,

soft groans,

and breathless moans, cementing those quiet hours into the most breathtaking, beautiful night of their entire lives.
