Chapter 84 - Chapter 84 : Finally.....

The next morning, it was weekend, the tension in

Keifer's room was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Keifer was pacing a narrow path into the carpet, his hands shoved deep into his pockets.

"Do you really think this is gonna have any impact on her?"

Keifer asked, his voice strained as he looked at Percy.

Percy was sprawled out on the leather couch, his legs kicked up on the mahogany coffee table.

He was currently busy tilting his phone at various angles, snapping selfies with a practiced pout.

"Of course, bro. Trust my handsome mind,"

Handsome mind?

he said, pausing to check his reflection and fix a stray strand of hair.

"I have a PhD in matters of the heart. Girls love a grand gesture. It's science."

"I don't think so," Aries muttered from the corner.

He didn't even look up, his fingers moving with lightning speed as he twisted a Rubik's cube.

Click-clack-click.

"What do you mean, baby? Don't you believe in me?"

Percy leaned over toward Aries, sticking his bottom lip out in a dramatic pout.

"Eww, Percy. Stay away from me,"

Aries said flatly, shoving Percy's face away with one hand without breaking his rhythm on the cube.

"Stop it, both of you!" Keifer snapped, his irritation finally boiling over.

He groaned and flopped face-first onto his bed.

"Aries, tell me what you mean. Why won't it work?"

Aries finally set the completed cube on the table.

He looked at Keifer with a pitying expression.

"I talked to Mykel earlier. He said Jay sent all your 'premium gifts' straight to the city orphanage."

He made air quotes with his fingers when he said premium gifts.

Keifer let out a long, muffled groan into his pillow, his shoulders slumping in total defeat.

"Then I have one more idea,"

Percy announced, springing up from the couch with a flourish.

"An idea so brilliant, it is physically impossible for it to fail."

Keifer slowly peeled the pillow off his face, but he didn't even bother to open his eyes.

He just lay there, exhausted by the mere sound of Percy's voice.

Aries didn't even pause his task; he just rolled his eyes so hard it looked painful, already bracing for the nonsense about to come out of Percy's mouth.

"I can be your husband," Percy said, striking a pose with his hands on his hips and his chest puffed out like he was posing for a royal portrait.

"Eww..." Aries groaned, looking genuinely disgusted.

The silence lasted only a second before Keifer snapped.

He sat bolt upright and launched a pillow with professional-athlete speed directly at Percy's face.

"Shut the f*ck up, Percy! I'm serious here!"

Keifer shouted, his voice echoing off the walls.

"I'm serious too!" Percy squealed, ducking and dodging the flying cushions while maintaining his dramatic pout.

"Think about it! I'm charming, I'm stylish—"

Keifer didn't even let him finish.

He let out a frustrated growl and flopped back onto the bed, burying his face in the mattress once more.

Aries stood up with a heavy sigh, the only one in the room still thinking logically.

He walked over to the bed and sat on the edge, leaning over Keifer.

He placed his palms against his own temples, as if trying to contain the headache Percy was giving him.

"Okay, now for the million-dollar question," Aries said, his voice calm and serious.

"Have you ever actually confessed to her? Your real, honest feelings?"

This time, Keifer actually moved. He sat up slowly, his hair tousled, and looked directly at Aries.

"Yes."

"And?" Aries prodded. "What did she say?"

"She—"

"She must have said, 'Oh, Golden Boy, I love you too!'"

Percy interrupted, throwing his arms out wide and swooning dramatically.

Both Keifer and Aries turned their heads slowly, pinning Percy with identical, soul-crushing dead glares.

The room went silent for three seconds.

"Okay, okay! I'm shut!"

Percy squeaked, immediately flopping back onto the bed and pulling a stray pillow over his head.

Keifer looked back at Aries, his shoulders dropping.

"She didn't say anything," he admitted quietly.

"WHAT?!"

Percy's head popped out from under the pillow, his voice hitting a high-pitched scream.

"She didn't reply to you? I mean, to you? The Mark Keifer Watson?"

"Percyyyyyyyy!" Keifer groaned, sounding like he was about to lose his mind.

"Ok, ok! Shutting up for real this time!"

Percy zipped his lips and threw the invisible key away.

Aries clapped his hands together once, the sound sharp and final.

"That's it, then."

Keifer raised a skeptical brow, waiting for the verdict.

"You have to confess your feelings to her properly,"

Aries stated, locking eyes with him.

"And you're going to do it today."

Jay was practically sinking into a giant velvet bean bag, her head tilted back as she watched Sophia and Cheska pace around her like two detectives working a high-stakes case.

"Weren't we here for a girls' night out?"

Jay asked, her voice trailing off with a hint of boredom.

"Shopping, movies, and all those things?"

"Yeah, but your so-called love life is getting way more interesting than a trip to the mall,"

Cheska countered.

She stopped her pacing and flopped onto the edge of the bed, crossing her legs as she leaned forward.

"Jay, I mean... seriously," Sophia started, pausing in front of the bean bag with a bewildered expression.

"Have you two seriously never said those three magical words to each other?"

Jay's head rolled to the side, her eyes half-closing as she stared at a random spot on the carpet.

"He said them... but I never... said them back," she admitted, her lips twisting into a sheepish, awkward smile.

"Seriously?" Cheska's eyes rolled so far back they nearly disappeared.

"In all this time?"

Jay nodded, letting out a small, nervous laugh that she tried to hide behind her hair.

"Okay, then that settles it,"

Sophia announced, her eyes snapping with sudden determination.

"You're going to do it today."

"Huh?" Jay sat up slightly, the beans in the bag shifting loudly under her.

"Yes! You are absolutely doing this today,"

Cheska said, springing back to her feet and clapping her hands together with a finality that made Jay's heart skip a beat.

"No more running, Jay-jay. Today's the day."

Jay stood up instantly, her hands flying into the air as she looked at her friend in disbelief.

"But Soph! Weren't you the one who told me to keep him on his toes? Weren't you the one who said—"

"I know, I know!"

Sophia cut her off with an impatient wave of her hand.

"But it's getting boring now. The back-and-forth was fun for a while, but I need something better to watch. I need a finale!"

Jay narrowed her eyes, her confusion deepening.

"Something to watch? My life isn't a K-Drama for your entertainment!"

"Yes, it is, and it's going to be fun," Cheska added, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips.

"I... I'm not doing this," Jay stated firmly, crossing her arms over her chest.

"You are doing this," Sophia countered, matching Jay's stance.

"I... how... I mean, how can I even...?" Jay stammered, her confidence wavering as the reality of the task hit her.

"How do I even s...?"

"Why can't you?"

Cheska challenged, stepping closer.

"If a boy can propose to a girl, why can't a girl do it? We're living in 21st century, Jay. Gender roles are out; being bold is in."

"But I—"

"No buts!" Sophia declared, pointing a finger at her.

"You are doing this, which means you are doing this. End of discussion."

.

.

.

"You can do it!" A heavy hand slammed onto Keifer's shoulder, the force making him lurch forward.

"What the hell, Percy?"

Keifer shouted, stumbling to catch his balance.

He quickly straightened himself, turning back to the full-length mirror to smooth out his suit for the hundredth time.

He was wearing a tailored, cream-colored coat and pants that contrasted perfectly with his crisp white shirt.

The light fabric made him look sophisticated yet approachable, highlighting his athletic build.

With his hair styled to perfection and his jawline sharp enough to draw blood, he looked every bit the "Golden Boy" the world knew—only now, his usual arrogance was replaced by a visible, nervous edge that made him look humanly handsome.

"Take this too," Aries said, handing him a large, overflowing bouquet of fresh white lilies and baby's breath.

"How am I looking?"

Keifer asked, his voice tight. It was the seventeenth time he'd asked in the last ten minutes.

"You're looking beautiful, baby!"

Percy chirped, puckering his lips and leaning in to plant a dramatic kiss on Keifer's cheek, only to be shoved backward by Aries' arm.

"Percy... shoo," Aries muttered. He turned to Keifer, his expression softening into a rare, supportive smile.

He slammed a solid hand on Keifer's shoulder—much more gently than Percy had.

"Man, you're looking handsome. Seriously. You've got this."

"Ow," Keifer winced, rubbing his shoulder where both friends had left their mark.

He took a deep breath, gripped the flowers, and stared at his reflection. It was now or never.

.

.

.

.

.

Cheska's apartment looked like a hurricane of glitter and silk had just swept through it.

Sophia was currently buried half-deep in a suitcase, tossing hangers behind her, while Cheska was frantically waving a curling iron in one hand and a lip gloss wand in the other.

"Not that one! Too formal!" Sophia yelled, throwing a stray scarf over her shoulder.

"Wait, wait! Hold still, Jay! If I mess up this eyeliner, you'll look like a panda!"

Cheska shrieked, leaning so close to Jay's face that their noses almost touched.

Jay sat stiffly on a stool in the center of the chaos, her hands gripped tightly on her knees.

"Can we please just stop? I feel like a mannequin!"

"Hush, mannequins don't talk back!"

Sophia chirped, finally emerging from the pile with a triumphant grin.

"Found it!"

After another twenty minutes of frantic brushing, spraying, and the occasional accidental poke in the eye with a mascara wand, they finally stepped back.

Jay stood up, smoothing down the fabric of her dress.

She was wearing a simple, tea-length white dress adorned with tiny, delicate blue and pink wildflowers.

It had puffed sleeves and a soft sweetheart neckline that perfectly complemented her features.

The dress wasn't loud or flashy; it was soft, elegant, and breathed a kind of natural beauty that made her look like she had stepped out of a classic painting.

"Oh my god, you look like a literal angel," Sophia whispered, actually looking a little teary-eyed for a split second before she snapped back to business.

"Okay, emotional moment over. Let's go!"

"Wait! My shoes!" Jay panicked, tripping over a discarded makeup bag.

"Forget the shoes, just run!" Cheska laughed, grabbing Jay's arm and dragging her toward the door.

Jay took one last look at the room—which now looked like a disaster zone of powder and clothes—and took a deep breath. She looked beautiful, she felt terrified, and her two best friends were basically pushing her into the battlefield of love.

.

.

.

Jay stepped out of Cheska's apartment building just as the heavy oak doors of the Watson mansion swung open for Keifer.

At the exact same moment, kilometres apart, they both paused.

They looked up at the sky, adjusted their clothes, and took a breath that felt like it was filling their lungs for the first time.

"I'm coming," they muttered in unison, a shared vow whispered into the wind.

Jay quickly hailed a cab, her fingers nervously twisting a loose thread on her floral dress.

As the car pulled away toward the Watson mansion, she leaned her head against the window.

"You can do this, Jay," she whispered to her reflection.

"No more hiding. No more being the 'shy wife.' Just tell him. Tell him he's a liar, a jerk, and the only person you want to be with."

On the other side of the city, Keifer gripped the steering wheel of his sports car, the bouquet of lilies resting on the passenger seat like a silent witness.

His heart was hammering against his ribs.

"Don't mess this up, Watson," he hissed to himself, glancing in the rearview mirror.

"Forget the 'Golden Boy' act. Just be Kiefer. Tell her she's everything. Tell her you're sorry for the lies."

The two vehicles sped toward each other on the main highway, a yellow taxi and a sleek black car closing the gap.

As the distance between them narrowed to nothing, both Jay and Keifer felt a sudden, inexplicable surge of emotion.

"I love you," they both whispered.

The words left their lips at the precise second their cars surpassed each other, passing in a blur of motion.

They were only a few feet apart, separated by glass and metal, completely unaware that the person they were searching for had just flashed by in the opposite lane.

The cab pulled up to the grand gates of the Watson mansion, and Keifer's car screeched to a halt in front of Cheska's apartment complex.

They both jumped out, hearts racing, only to find the same thing: an empty room and a missing heart.

They had traveled the length of the city just to end up at the same distance once again.

Congratulations 🎉 ur decision to scroll more was good 💯.

Jay stood before the massive, intimidating doors of the Watson mansion, the weight of her decision pressing down on her.

Her heart was a frantic bird trapped in her chest, fluttering against her ribs with every shallow breath she took.

Should I just turn around?

she wondered, her hand hovering inches from the polished wood.

I could go back to the apartment, crawl under the covers, and pretend I never had this burst of courage.

But the memory of Keifer's face, the way he looked when he whispered those words to her in bathroom, kept her feet rooted to the spot.

No, she couldn't keep running.

She reached for the handle, then gasped, pulling her hand back as if the brass were white-hot.

If she walked through the front door, she'd likely run into his parents or the household staff.

The thought of confessing her deepest feelings in front of a gallery of witnesses made her stomach churn with a fresh wave of nausea.

"I can't go in like this," she whispered to herself.

Defeated, she sank onto the cold stone steps of the porch, clutching her knees to her chest.

Her mind was a whirl of "what ifs."

What if .....

(Sorry I forgot what to write 😁)

She sighed, her gaze drifting aimlessly across the manicured lawn until it landed on a sturdy wooden ladder resting against a garden shed.

She tilted her head, a spark of desperate inspiration hitting her. The balcony.

It was private.

It was his space.

It was the only place where she could say what she needed to say without the world watching.

She scrambled up, dragging the heavy ladder across the grass with a grit she didn't know she possessed.

She leaned it against the railing of the second-floor balcony, the wood groaning under its own weight.

She looked down at her elegant heels—beautiful, but utterly useless for a break-in.

"Ugh, I can't do this in these," she muttered.

She kicked them off, feeling the cool grass beneath her toes, and began to climb.

Every rung was a step closer to a truth she had been terrified to speak, her fingers trembling as they gripped the rough wood.

Meanwhile, Keifer was staring down the apartment security guard with a fierce, burning determination that masked a mounting sense of panic.

"Sir, I am telling you, it's a matter of life and death,"

Keifer said, his voice straining to remain steady.

Inside, he was a mess.

He had spent his whole life being the "Golden Boy," the one who always had the right words and the perfect plan.

But standing here, barred from seeing Jay, he felt like a fraud.

He didn't care about his reputation or his influence right now; he just needed her to know that for once, he wasn't playing a game.

"I don't care if you're the King of England," the guard replied, crossing his arms.

"No authorization, no entry."

Keifer's jaw tightened.

He tried to pull the "Watson" card, mentioning his father's connections and his own standing, but the guard's expression remained like granite.

For the first time in his life, Keifer's name wasn't a master key.

He turned away, pacing back and forth near his car, his mind racing.

I can't just leave.

If I walk away now, then I won't ever be able to do this.

He looked up at the balcony of room, his eyes narrowed with a sudden, reckless resolve.

He wasn't going to let a locked door stand in his way.

If he couldn't walk through the front, he'd go over the side.

He shed his cream-colored coat, tossing it carelessly onto the car, and loosened his tie.

I'm going to tell her, he thought, his pulse thrumming in his ears as he eyed a stack of crates and a nearby drainpipe.

Even if I have to climb this entire building, I'm going to make her listen.

With the bouquet of lilies gripped firmly in one hand, he reached for the first foothold.

His palms were sweaty, and his heart was hammering a frantic rhythm, but his mind was set. He was done with the games.

Today, he was just a man trying to reach the woman he loved, one dangerous step at a time.

Jay reached the top of the ladder, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird.

She climbed over the railing, her bare feet landing softly on the cool tiles of the balcony.

Taking a deep breath to steady her trembling hands, she reached for the heavy curtains and slid them aside, ready to pour her heart out.

"Keifer, I—"

The words died in her throat.

Instead of the man she was looking for, she found Aries sitting on the edge of the bed with his phone pressed to his ear, and Percy standing in front of the full-length mirror, mid-pose with a comb in his hand.

The room went dead silent.

Percy froze, his mouth hanging open, while Aries slowly lowered his phone, staring at the window as if he'd seen a ghost.

"Sister?" Percy finally squeaked, his eyes darting from Jay's disheveled hair to her bare, grass-stained feet.

"Jay?" Aries added, his usual calm replaced by pure bewilderment.

"How... why did you come through the balcony? Are you okay?"

Jay felt a wave of heat rush to her face, a deep, burning crimson spreading from her neck to her forehead.

She stood there, clutching the fabric of her floral dress, looking everywhere but at them.

The embarrassment was so thick she felt like she could choke on it.

"I... I thought..." she stammered, biting her lip.

She looked back at the open balcony door and then at them, realizing how ridiculous she must look.

"I.....I....was...just.... I came here to tell him... I came to tell Keifer something important."

Percy's confused expression suddenly shifted.

A slow, dramatic grin spread across his face as he looked at Aries.

"Oh! The 'Three Magical Words' mission!"

Her eyes widened in shock.

Aries stood up, a sympathetic look crossing his face.

He walked toward her, gesturing for her to sit down, but Jay stayed rooted to the spot.

"Jay," Aries said gently, "You just missed him. He isn't here."

"Where is he?" she asked, her voice small and filled with a sudden, sinking dread.

"He's gone to do the exact same thing," Aries explained, a small smile playing on his lips.

"He's at Cheska's apartment right now, Jay. He went there to find you."

.

.

.

.

.

.

Keifer gripped the edge of the railing and hauled himself over, landing on the balcony with a heavy thud.

He was breathless, his white shirt sticking to his skin, and his hair was a complete mess.

He shoved the glass door open, ready to pour his heart out.

"Jay, I—"

He froze.

The room was not empty, but Jay was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, Sophia and Cheska were sitting there, staring at him with wide, shocked eyes.

The silence was heavy as they took in the sight of the polished Mark Keifer Watson looking like he had just escaped a forest fire.

"Keifer?" Cheska gasped, her hand over her mouth.

"Did you... did you just come through the window?"

"Where is Jay?" Keifer demanded, ignoring his disheveled state.

His chest was heaving, and he looked around the room frantically.

"I need to see her. Right now."

Sophia blinked, exchanging a stunned glance with Cheska.

"Wait... don't you know?"

"Know what?" Keifer asked, his heart sinking. "Is she okay? Is she here?"

"No," Sophia said, her voice trailing off.

She looked at Cheska, and then back at Keifer's desperate face.

Suddenly, the shock on their faces broke.

Cheska clapped a hand over her mouth, but it was too late—a snort escaped, and then both girls burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter.

Sophia was doubled over, clutching her stomach, while Cheska pointed at him, unable to catch her breath.

"What? What is so funny?" Keifer groaned, feeling his face heat up. "I'm being serious!"

"Oh, Keifer," Cheska wheezed, wiping a tear from her eye. "You really are a disaster. You both are disasters.

You're here scaling walls, but Jay is already at her in-laws' house!"

"In laws...Watson...house?" Keifer blinked, completely stunned.

"Yes!" Sophia laughed, catching her breath for a second.

"She went there to do the exact same thing you're trying to do. She's probably climbing your balcony right now!"

Keifer let out a frustrated groan and leaned his head against the doorframe, cursing his luck.

He had spent all that energy being the hero, only to realize they had swapped places like a bad comedy sketch.

.

.

.

She burst through the mansion gates and started running toward the city center, her bare feet hitting the pavement with a rhythmic slap.

"I can't miss him again," she panted, her lungs burning. "Not this time."

Kilometres away, Keifer didn't even bother looking for his car keys.

He knew the traffic would be a nightmare, and the thought of being stuck behind a red light while Jay was looking for him was unbearable.

He sprinted away from the apartment complex, his white shirt fluttering in the wind.

The journey was a blur of exhaustion.

Jay's delicate flower dress caught on a stray bramble as she took a shortcut through a park, leaving a small tear in the hem, but she didn't stop.

Her breathing was ragged, and the soft soles of her feet were starting to sting, yet she kept moving.

She ducked through crowds of pedestrians, ignoring the confused stares of people wondering why a beautiful girl in a floral dress was sprinting barefoot through the streets.

Keifer wasn't having it any easier.

His lungs felt like they were on fire, and the physical toll of climbing that drainpipe was finally catching up to him.

He dodged a cyclist and nearly tripped over a curb, his legs feeling like lead.

He was sweating, his hair was a mess, and his pristine white shirt was ruined—but he didn't care about being the "Golden Boy" anymore.

He just wanted to be Jay's husband.

They both reached the long bridge that connected the two districts, their movements slowing as exhaustion threatened to take over.

Suddenly, Jay stopped.

Her eyes widened, and she gasped for air, clutching her side.

On the opposite end of the long, wide road, a figure emerged from the evening haze.

He was disheveled, his sleeves rolled up, looking nothing like the composed heir to the Watson fortune.

Keifer skidded to a halt, his chest heaving.

He looked across the distance, his eyes locking onto a girl in a torn floral dress, her hair wild and her feet bare.

The world around them—the honking cars, the rushing pedestrians, the flickering streetlights—seemed to fade into a dull hum.

There was nothing left but the two of them, standing on opposite ends of the street, finally face-to-face.

The moment their eyes locked across the distance, the exhaustion vanished.

A pure, radiant smile broke across Jay's face, mirrored instantly by the lopsided, breathless grin on Keifer's.

Without a word, they both broke into a final, desperate sprint toward the center of the bridge.

In her rush, Jay's foot caught on an uneven piece of pavement.

She stumbled, falling forward, but managed to catch herself with her hands just before hitting the ground.

"Oh, dear! Slow down! Are you alright?"

an elderly lady asked, rushing over with a worried expression.

Jay didn't even look at her scraped palms. She looked up, her face glowing with a joy so intense it was infectious.

"I'm more than alright!"

she laughed, throwing her arms around the startled woman in a quick, exuberant hug.

"I've never been better!"

Before the lady could respond, Jay was off again, her feet barely touching the ground.

On the other side, Keifer dashed into the road, his eyes fixed only on the girl in the floral dress.

A car screeched to a halt inches from him, the tires smoking as the driver slammed on the brakes.

"Are you a fool?! You almost got killed!"

the driver screamed, leaning out the window in a rage.

Keifer didn't scowl or snap back. He threw his head back and laughed, a wild, free sound.

"Yes! I am a fool!"

he screamed back at the top of his lungs.

"I'm a fool in love!

Did you hear me? I'm a fool!"

He didn't wait for a reply, leaving the stunned driver behind as he reached the middle of the bridge.

They slowed down as they drew closer, finally stopping just a few feet apart.

They stood there for a heartbeat, panting, looking at the beautiful mess they had both become.

Then, the distance closed in a blur.

They didn't walk this time, they ran.

They collided in a hug so tight it knocked the breath out of them, Keifer lifting Jay off her feet as she buried her face in the crook of his neck.

Their exhaustion of running this far vanished with just a touch of each other.

They just let aut every part of their exhaustion, closing their eyes and buring faces in each other's neck.

When they finally pulled back just enough to look at each other, the air was thick with everything they wanted to say.

Keifer reach for her hands. His thumbs making small circles on her knuckles.

"I..." Jay started.

"I..." Keifer said at the same time.

"You..."

"You..."

They both stopped, laughing breathlessly at the unison.

"You were saying something?"

they asked together, which only made them laugh harder.

But..then.

Keifer reached out, his thumb gently brushing a smudge of dirt from Jay's cheek.

His eyes were dark, filled with a sincerity that no one had ever seen from the Golden Boy.

"Jay," he said softly, his voice barely a whisper.

"I love you."

The words were a gentle caress, but he didn't stop there.

He took a small step back, his voice growing firmer, louder, ringing with conviction.

"I love you, Jay-jay! I really do!"

Then, as if the words could no longer be contained within the limits of a normal conversation, he looked up at the sky and let out a roar that seemed to shake the very foundations of the bridge.

"I LOVE YOU!"

he screamed, his voice carrying over the sound of the wind and the city, a defiant declaration to the entire world.

Jay's smile grew until it reached her eyes, which were now shimmering with unshed tears.

She didn't say a word.

Instead, she reached up, her fingers clutching his collar and pulling him down with a sudden, fierce strength.

She crashed her lips against his.

It was a kiss born of months of frustration, hidden glances, and unspoken longing.

It was messy, desperate, and perfect.

Keifer froze for a fraction of a second, his eyes wide in shock at her boldness, but then his eyelids fluttered shut and he responded, his arms wrapping around her waist to pull her even closer.

He pulled her flush against his chest, his hands anchoring her to him as if he would never let her go again.

As a single tear escaped her eye and rolled down her cheek, to be lost between their pressed lips.

They pulled apart just enough to breathe.

Jay looked up into his eyes, her expression soft.

She leaned her forehead against his, her voice a soft but steady vow.

"I love you too, KEIFER."
