- A few days later -
I was lying relaxedly on the bed, scrolling through my screen to text Xi Yong'an:
💬Zhao Tianxia: "Hey, we're planning to take on the 4th mission, do you want to tag along?"
💬Xi Yong'an: "So soon? I'm sorry, I've been way too busy lately. You guys go ahead and join first."
💬Zhao Tianxia: "Is that so? Sounds like a pity. Oh well, Yashu and I are about to head out. We're taking some time off then."
💬Xi Yong'an: "Yeah, take care."
This outcome was a bit unexpected for me. I thought he would agree to join, but maybe he got caught up with his schedule at the company.
Xi Yong'an once told me that he co-founded a company with a few seniors, and everyone took turns managing the workload. I guessed that those seniors might currently be busy with a mission and hadn't returned yet, so Xi Yong'an had to stay behind to hold down the fort. Once they came back, he would finally be free to move on.
But either way, his absence didn't change much.
I bent down to rummage under the bed, pulling out the teddy bear hidden beneath it to prepare to bring it along. To my surprise, the moment the bear touched my hand, it automatically shrank, fitting perfectly and neatly inside my coat pocket.
Having packed everything up, I opened the door and stepped out of the room. Yashu was already standing outside waiting for me.
We headed out together. However, this time the streets below were quite crowded and noisy, so for convenience, we decided to return to the room. Standing before the window, both of us fixed our eyes on the bizarre eye-sun entity in the sky. Yashu and I crossed our arms over our chests at the same time, repeating the exact same ritual as the previous times.
Time seemed to freeze, and then, my consciousness began to fade away...
