Chapter 96 - The Show Begins

"The plot segment of Thor's Earth arc is complete. The Destroyer has been vanquished. In recognition of your participation in the battle, Host, you are awarded 1,000 points. Any further shouting or insults directed at the System will result in the forfeiture of this reward!"

"I... System, you're the best!"

Qin Xiao barely suppressed the swear word that rose to his lips.

*What choice do I have?* he thought. *With points on the line, the System is always right.*

"In light of your sincere desire to reform, Host, here's a friendly reminder: The exile arc of Thor's Earth arc is complete. Your reward, Odin's friendship, must be claimed personally in Asgard!"

"Fine!"

Qin Xiao replied silently, his mind already racing. *As if I needed you to tell me—the Ancient One herself has already intervened.*

He looked up and watched Thor, who, after effortlessly defeating the Destroyer, immediately engaged in a passionate kiss with Jane.

Completely disregarding his fiancée standing nearby.

*That damn player!*

"Qin, thank you for all your help during this time. And to you, Supreme Mage Ancient One, I heard stories of the ancient Supreme Mages when I was a child, and I thought they were just legends. Thank you for teaching me!"

Thor bowed slightly to the Ancient One and Qin Xiao.

If nothing else, his time on Earth had certainly taught him humility.

"On behalf of Asgard, I pledge an alliance with Earth to jointly combat cosmic threats and safeguard the Nine Realms!"

This declaration was primarily addressed to Qin Xiao, as Thor felt he wasn't yet worthy of forming an alliance with the Supreme Mage.

Qin Xiao nodded slightly, their understanding unspoken.

"I must return to Asgard now to attend to urgent matters. Jane, I swear I will return to you!"

After speaking with Qin Xiao and the Ancient One, Thor turned to Jane, his voice filled with tender affection.

As soon as he finished speaking, they kissed again.

Qin Xiao stole a glance at Sif beside him, whose expression was clearly awkward.

Volstagg, a keen observer of human nature, noticed Sif's discomfort and said to Thor,

"Thor, we must return immediately and retrieve the Destroyer. This is no ordinary situation. Something must have gone wrong with Heimdall."

One sentence reminded Thor that while it was partly to cover for Sif, it was also partly true.

He repeatedly assured Jane that they would return as soon as they had handled the matter.

Thor led the Asgardians to the spot where Sif and the others had landed.

Standing on the mark left by the Bifrost, Thor raised his hammer and shouted at the sky.

"Heimdall! Take us home!"

"Heimdall!"

He raised his hammer again.

After calling twice with no response from the Bifrost, Qin Xiao couldn't resist asking, "Hey, Thor, are you holding up your hammer so Heimdall can get a better signal?"

"Heimdall is the guardian of Asgard, a god of immense power," Thor explained solemnly. "His eyes can see every corner of the universe, and his ears can hear any call directed to him, no matter where it comes from."

"Oh!" Qin Xiao nodded. "That's pretty impressive. If he can hear everything, why bother shouting and raising your hammer? Just... *do* something with your hammer!"

"Ah? Sorry, I'm just used to it!"

Thor scratched the back of his head, looking a little embarrassed.

He looked up at the sky again, and just as he was about to raise his hammer, he remembered Qin Xiao's words and lowered it halfway.

"Heimdall!"

Whether it was Qin Xiao's words that had an effect, dark clouds began to swirl in the sky, and a beam of rainbow light descended from the sky, following the mark on the ground.

Thor nodded to the crowd, then gave Jane a meaningful look before stepping onto the Bifrost with a few companions.

Jane stared blankly as their figures gradually stretched and faded into the rainbow bridge.

She murmured to herself,

"Using energy to break through the barriers of two dimensions and traverse vast distances, directly teleporting people or objects to the other side—that's the true power of the gods!"

Qin Xiao gently patted Jane's shoulder.

"Hey, girl, I know your mind is filled with that tall and mighty Thor right now, and you think he's the greatest, that Asgard is a sacred place. But I still want to tell you, that so-called divine power, the one that stretches people through spatial tunnels—if something goes wrong in the tunnel, they could get sucked into a spatial vortex. True gods should be like this."

"Pop!"

Qin Xiao snapped his fingers.

The Ancient One shot him a resigned look and, with a wave of her hand, instantly opened a shimmering golden portal.

Jane peered inside, recognizing the Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge, that Thor had described to her.

On the bridge, Thor was soaring rapidly toward a magnificent golden palace in the distance, his hammer raised high.

"See? *That's* what you call divine power! Bye-bye!"

Qin Xiao waved at Jane and stepped through the portal with the Ancient One, vanishing without a trace.

Only then did Jane snap out of her daze. "Hey! Damn it! I wanted to go too!"

The only response was the fading golden sparks of the closing portal.

"Next time I see Daisy, I'm definitely telling her to stop talking to you!" she muttered indignantly before turning and walking toward her car.

Erik Selvig had joined S.H.I.E.L.D. for a new research project, while Daisy had returned to the lab to continue her experiments.

Jane, too, needed to find a place to settle down and wait for her Asgardian prince to come for her.

The Ancient One had opened the portal on the shore of the Endless Sea, diagonally opposite the Bifrost.

From this vantage point, the Rainbow Bridge and Rainbow Bridge Temple were visible to the right, while the Golden Palace lay in the distance to the left.

After the Destroyer failed to kill Thor, Loki immediately froze Heimdall with the Casket of Ancient Winters, opened Asgard's gates, and lured the Frost Giants into the Golden Palace.

Thor's earlier attempt to contact Heimdall had failed because Heimdall was still frozen and hadn't broken free.

Loki, under the guise of cooperating to kill Odin, had tricked Laufey, the leader of the Frost Giants, into the Golden Palace.

While Laufey was preparing to strike down Odin, Loki used Gungnir to ambush and kill him.

First, he wanted to prove his capabilities to Odin. Second, after Odin revealed his true heritage, Loki felt humiliated to learn that he was a descendant of the Frost Giants.

*How could the future king of Asgard be a Frost Giant?*

To erase this shame, he was willing to kill Laufey and even planned to use the Bifrost to completely destroy the Frost Giants' world.

The Ancient One conjured a shimmering portal in mid-air, displaying a live image of Odin's bedroom.

It showed Loki having just slain Laufey, followed by Thor's arrival and the two brothers facing off.

With his plan only half-complete, Loki wasn't about to let Thor stop him.

He struck Thor with Gungnir, sending him flying out of the Golden Palace, and then sprinted toward the Bifrost.

Qin Xiao's gaze followed Loki to the Bifrost, anticipating the brothers' lover's quarrel would end with the destruction of the bridge.

But the Ancient One whispered beside him, "Look over here—the real show is about to begin!"
