"Your strength is commendable," Fandral, one of the Warrior Three, said, stepping forward and lightly brandishing his longsword. "You could be considered a true warrior even in Asgard. But do you really think that makes you capable of challenging the gods?"
In Fandral's view, Volstagg had simply been caught off guard. It was only natural to be struck after missing a full-powered axe swing. Sending someone flying dozens of meters required only a few tons of explosive force—trivial for an Asgardian warrior.
While a few tons of force might impress mortals, it was mere basic training for Asgardian warriors.
"On account of your friendship with Thor, apologize to Volstagg, and we won't pursue charges of blasphemy!"
"Heh!" Qin Xiao chuckled.
He wondered if these Asgardians were truly so narrow-minded, or if Odin had simply sheltered them too well. Their innate sense of superiority was truly infuriating.
With a cold sneer and a curl of his lip, Qin Xiao prepared to teach these so-called Asgardian gods a proper lesson.
Unfortunately, Loki, eager to prevent Thor from returning to Asgard, didn't give him the chance.
Dark clouds gathered once more in the sky, slowly swirling into a vortex before a seven-colored light descended.
The light struck the ground, creating a circular crater filled with unknown symbols, and a massive black metal giant materialized in its place.
"This is the Destroyer that guards the treasury. Who released it?"
The Destroyer's arrival caused the faces of the Asgardians to pale.
"There's a town behind us—at least thousands of people live there! Stop it!"
Thor immediately glanced at the town behind them, knowing Jane was still there.
Forgetting their earlier conflict with Qin Xiao, the group charged toward the Destroyer, weapons raised.
Their coordinated combat revealed their practiced teamwork.
Volstagg, who had been sent flying by Qin Xiao earlier, ran from a distance and positioned himself at the front of the group.
Flames erupted from the Destroyer's body, its flat face splitting open to reveal a metal bar. A concentrated blast of fire shot toward the four charging figures.
The group scattered to the sides. Volstagg rolled and swung his axe at the Destroyer's ankle.
Fandral and Hogun, one with a sword and the other with a small hammer-like weapon, moved to block the Destroyer's arm as it swung down at Volstagg.
With its arm restrained, the Destroyer's body flashed with fire, the metal plates on its face opened again, and the swirling flames slowly coalesced.
"Sif!" Volstagg roared.
Sif, who had quietly circled around to the Destroyer's back, leaped over three meters into the air. Her short staff transformed into a two-headed spear, which she drove firmly through the gap in the Destroyer's metal plates, widened by its bent posture.
The single spear pinned the Destroyer to the ground.
The flames within its body slowly died down.
Fandral elegantly twirled his sword and shot a provocative glance at Qin Xiao.
Qin Xiao rolled his eyes and pointed at the Destroyer.
Fandral quickly turned and saw the metal plates on the Destroyer's body slowly rotating.
Driven by the rotating plates, the Destroyer's entire body flipped over, transforming from a hunched posture to a backward-leaning stance.
Flames erupted violently from its body once more.
"Sif!"
This time, Thor's shout came in time for Sif to leap clear of the Destroyer.
The overturned Destroyer erupted in flames once more, its body thrusting forward.
As it rose to its feet, the spear impaled in the ground slowly withdrew from its body.
With a turn, a beam of fire shot from its face.
Unlike before, this time the blast didn't stop after a single burst; it maintained a continuous stream, tracking the four gods as the Destroyer's head and body swiveled.
Fortunately, the massive Destroyer's movements were sluggish. Otherwise, that single fiery assault would have been enough to obliterate the four proud gods.
The gods couldn't endure being pummeled indefinitely. While the flames chased the other three, Volstagg, the strongest of the group, leaped high and swung his axe at the Destroyer's chest.
Unfortunately, the Destroyer's combat awareness had improved significantly since their last encounter.
Before Volstagg's axe could fully connect, the Destroyer's massive arm swept across like a pillar.
Volstagg's vaunted strength proved utterly insignificant against the Destroyer. The collision sent him flying dozens of meters away once more.
The Destroyer's entire body was forged from Uru metal and other precious alloys collected by Odin.
Qin Xiao's current body strength was no match for the Destroyer's. In a single strike, Volstagg fell to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
One blow had left him gravely wounded.
The remaining three fared no better. While they dodged the flames, they couldn't evade the follow-up strikes of the Destroyer's arms and feet.
Each was swept away, sustaining varying degrees of injury.
The Destroyer refused to relent, targeting Sif, who was closest to it. With a stride, it advanced toward her.
Sif had been kicked flying earlier. Though she had blocked one blow with her shield, her physical resilience was no match for the others. The impact had severely impaired her mobility, leaving her unable to evade.
The others were in similar straits. Even if they managed to rise, they couldn't reach Sif in time to help.
"Qin!"
Thor shouted, his gaze pleading as he looked at Qin Xiao.
Qin Xiao sighed, stomped his feet on the ground, and charged toward the Destroyer.
To be honest, Sif had already given up hope. The Destroyer had raised its fist high above its head.
Sif watched the fist hurtling toward her, her eyes squeezed shut in despair.
*Thud!*
A dull thud echoed through the air.
Sif felt her vision go black for a moment, then opened her eyes in confusion.
"You!!!" she cried out in astonishment.
The scene before her was almost unbelievable: the Earthling stood with his back to her, arms crossed and raised, firmly blocking the Destroyer's devastating punch.
Not only Sif, but even the Warrior Three, lying sprawled on the ground around them, widened their eyes in disbelief.
*How is this possible? This mortal, this human, actually blocked the Destroyer's fist with his bare hands?*
"What are you spacing out for, hey! I'm talking to you! Can you get up and move it, now!"
The Destroyer's strength was undeniable. Qin Xiao felt the pressure on his arms increasing with each passing moment. Without a trace of tenderness, he yelled at Sif.
"Oh! Oh!"
Sif nodded, snapping out of her daze. She struggled to her feet and quickly scrambled out of the combat zone between the Destroyer and Qin Xiao.
