Chapter 58 - Never Look Back at Explosions

How could a major drug lord not have people from the anti-narcotics bureau around him? The only difference was whether they were close confidants or not.

Very soon, Coulson received a video on his phone.

The footage was taken from the window of a building. Below, a group of fully armed soldiers were fleeing in panic, clutching their heads.

On top of a bullet-riddled SUV stood a man wearing a classic robber's mask, his eyes and mouth exposed.

In his hands was a six-barreled Gatling gun, wildly spraying bullets in all directions.

After emptying a belt of ammunition, the man casually tossed aside the Gatling gun and pulled out a rifle slung across his back.

As he chambered a round, he shouted at the surroundings:

"You sons of bitches, you drug dealers! Bastards! Come face my righteous bullets! In the name of the moon, I'll punish you! Ratatatatat!"

Coulson swore that this was the first time he had ever felt embarrassed to have such a colleague.

If you're going to shoot, just shoot—why are you making sound effects with your mouth? And what the hell is that "in the name of the moon" nonsense?

Although the man in the video had his face tightly covered, Coulson recognized him instantly—it was Qin Xiao.

Not just because of his voice, but also because the guy was wearing exactly the same clothes he had on earlier that day.

Legally speaking, only those who have been arrested, brought to trial, and convicted can be called criminals.

Whether it's murder, theft, or drug trafficking, the same principle applies.

So before standing trial, these major drug lords were, in the eyes of the law, still lawful citizens of Mexico.

Some even had clean records, created jobs locally, and funded charitable activities.

The last time Qin Xiao and the others attacked Celesto's estate, the Mexican government had already expressed considerable dissatisfaction.

It was only due to Nick Fury's behind-the-scenes intervention that the matter was smoothed over.

But this time, Qin Xiao had secretly entered Mexico alone, just destroyed one drug lord's base—and then boldly stormed into another.

This was practically a slap in the face of the Mexican government.

What's more, he even threatened the drug lord directly and forced him to transfer large amounts of assets into his own account.

A significant portion of that money belonged to high-ranking government officials.

As a result, the regular army was quickly mobilized, setting up an inescapable net around the city.

Reynosa, a border city in northeastern Mexico.

It lies just over a hundred kilometers from California.

Not only is it an important trade hub, but also a major route for drug trafficking into North America.

At least half of North America's annual drug supply flows out from here.

The city's most powerful drug lord, Carlos, wielded influence and authority that even surpassed the mayor.

Of course, this was all backed by guns and dollars.

But now, Carlos's armed forces had been reduced to a defeated remnant.

The massive figures in his bank accounts—once filled with strings of zeros—had all been transferred elsewhere.

Inside his luxurious estate, now half reduced to ruins, Qin Xiao stood casually, still masked, a cigar taken from Carlos dangling from his mouth.

He swaggered into a warehouse packed with weapons.

Two armed men inside saw him and instinctively snapped to attention, standing stiffly.

During Qin Xiao's earlier assault, these men had already been terrified out of their wits by this human-shaped tank.

Impervious to bullets, possessing immense strength—his punches hit with the force of rocket launchers. How were they supposed to fight that?

Anyone with enough courage to resist had already been killed. That's why they had retreated into the armory.

Now that Qin Xiao had walked in, they didn't even dare to move, let alone attack.

Since they weren't making a move, Qin Xiao wasn't a mindless killer either—he had no interest in casually smashing their heads in.

Looking around at the stockpile of weapons, he casually picked up a grenade and, with a click, pulled the pin.

"You two not leaving? Planning to get blown into the sky with this place?"

The moment he spoke, the two men bolted for the exit.

"Heh, look at you guys—scared stiff. I haven't even let go yet!"

After taking down two drug lords, Qin Xiao had acquired a massive fortune, and he was in a great mood.

He mocked the fleeing pair a bit, then adjusted his clothes with one hand and calmly walked out, lighting the cigar he had been holding in his mouth.

Only then did he release his grip and toss the grenade back into the armory.

"I've been wanting to do this for a long time—leave the weapons room for last, let everything explode behind you while you walk away calmly in front. That's the kind of style a movie protagonist should have, right?"

As he walked leisurely forward, he muttered to himself.

He remembered watching Iron Man back in the day—even Tony had spread his arms and walked away from an explosion in Afghanistan while testing missiles, striking a pose.

Boom!

A massive explosion erupted, followed by a chain of continuous detonations.

Qin Xiao subtly adjusted his posture, making himself stand as upright as possible, while countless iconic background themes from classic films seemed to play in his mind.

With an unrestrained, swaggering gait, he walked toward the estate gate.

A true warrior never looks back at explosions.

The grenade triggered a series of chain explosions. After all, it was a drug cartel's armory—filled with firearms, heavy weapons, and even large quantities of explosives.

Altogether, it amounted to roughly 100 kilograms of TNT.

While that was insignificant compared to nuclear weapons, it was more than enough to blow apart a three- or four-story building.

The powerful shockwave first shredded a nearby crate filled with several handheld rocket launchers.

The launchers were sent flying like iron rods, propelled in all directions at bullet-like speeds.

And unfortunately—

One of them flew straight toward Qin Xiao.

Human nature is strange. The more you try to stop yourself from doing something, the more you want to do it.

For example, if you're on your phone and someone of the opposite sex tells you, "Don't turn around, I'm changing," even if you had no intention of peeking, sooner or later you'll feel the urge to sneak a glance.

Most people have this tendency.

Qin Xiao was no exception.

He told himself not to look back, but as the explosions behind him grew louder, he started wondering if he should just take a quick look.

Just one glance. No one's watching anyway, right?I've already pulled off the cool moment. It should be mostly done exploding by now…

Unable to resist, he sneakily turned his head.

The moment he did, his vision went dark—a black object spinning rapidly shot straight at him.

Bang!

It struck him squarely across the bridge of his nose and his eyes.

"Ow! Damn it—that hit my eyeballs! Ow!!"
