Chapter 14 - The Truth About Luna

The blue energy prison surrounded Luna and Kai.

Nova stood calmly on the other side.

"You know," Nova said, looking directly at Luna, "you remind me of someone."

Luna glared at him.

"My mother."

Nova smiled.

"Exactly."

Kai stepped forward.

"Leave Luna out of this."

Nova laughed.

"You still don't understand."

He pressed a button on a nearby console.

A giant holographic screen appeared.

Old recordings began playing.

Luna's eyes widened.

Professor Jasmine.

Her mother.

The recording showed Professor Jasmine, Professor Luca, and Professor Nova working together years ago.

"What is this?" Luna whispered.

"The truth," Nova replied.

"You've spent years searching for your mother."

The recording continued.

Professor Jasmine appeared worried.

She was arguing with Nova.

"You can't use the Chrono Core!" Jasmine shouted.

"It's too dangerous!"

Nova paused the recording.

"The day your mother disappeared was the day everything changed."

Luna's hands trembled.

"What happened to her?"

Nova's expression darkened.

"I don't know."

For the first time, he seemed serious.

Even Kai noticed it.

Nova looked away.

"She vanished before I could find her."

Luna was shocked.

Nova hated her mother.

Yet he seemed genuinely frustrated by her disappearance.

Meanwhile...

Mili and Zoey finally completed the override program.

"This better work," Zoey said.

Mili pressed ENTER.

For a moment...

Nothing happened.

Then a pulse of energy spread throughout the Future Cave.

One by one, the glowing blue eyes of students and professors returned to normal.

Professor Orion blinked.

"What happened?"

Students looked around in confusion.

"It worked!" Zoey shouted.

Mili grinned.

"We did it!"

The mind control was broken.

Elsewhere...

Professor Luca explained everything to Lucas and James.

"Nova isn't acting alone."

James sighed.

"We know."

"He told us."

Professor Luca shook his head.

"No. You don't understand."

"There is someone inside the academy helping him."

Lucas frowned.

"Who?"

Professor Luca looked troubled.

"I don't know."

"Nova was always careful."

Suddenly his scanner beeped.

Professor Luca's face turned pale.

"Luna."

"What?" James asked.

"Nova has her."

The three immediately ran toward the central chamber.

Back inside the prison chamber...

Nova activated another hologram.

A map appeared.

Hundreds of glowing lines connected different universes.

"The Chrono Core is almost ready."

Kai looked confused.

"What is he talking about?"

Nova smiled.

"The future."

"The past."

"Every timeline."

Luna remembered the Future Cave.

The visions.

The strange warnings.

Everything was connected.

Nova stepped closer.

"Your mother understood the danger."

"Professor Luca understood it too."

"And now..."

His eyes locked onto Luna.

"You will understand it."

Suddenly alarms rang throughout the facility.

A robotic voice echoed through the cave.

WARNING.

MIND CONTROL NETWORK DISABLED.

Nova froze.

"What?"

WARNING.

CONTROL SIGNAL LOST.

For the first time...

Professor Nova looked worried.

Luna smiled.

"Mili."

Kai grinned.

"Definitely Mili."

Nova clenched his fists.

"No matter."

He activated the chamber defenses.

Metal walls began shifting.

Security drones emerged from hidden compartments.

Then another voice echoed through the room.

A familiar voice.

"Actually, brother..."

Nova slowly turned around.

Standing at the entrance was Professor Luca.

Beside him stood Lucas and James.

Nova's smile disappeared.

Professor Luca stared directly at his twin brother.

Chapter 15: Brothers of Destiny

The blue energy prison surrounded Luna and Kai.

Nova stood before the Chrono Core controls, watching them calmly.

"You've inherited her curiosity," Nova said.

Luna glared at him.

"Stop talking about my mother and tell me where she is!"

For a moment, Nova was silent.

Then he activated a hologram.

Old recordings appeared in the air.

Luna's heart nearly stopped.

Professor Jasmine.

Her mother.

The recording showed Jasmine standing beside Professor Luca and Professor Nova years ago.

The three scientists looked younger.

The giant machine behind them glowed with blue energy.

"What is that?" Kai asked.

Nova smiled.

"The Chrono Core."

The hologram zoomed in on the machine.

"It is the heart of Stairthaire."

"It can connect universes."

"It can observe possible futures."

"It powers the Future Cave."

Luna remembered the vision she had seen.

Everything suddenly made sense.

"Your mother discovered its true power before anyone else," Nova continued.

"She realized it could reshape reality itself."

The recording changed.

This time Professor Jasmine looked angry.

"You can't control every timeline, Nova!" she shouted.

"It will destroy countless worlds!"

The recording ended.

Nova looked away.

"Your mother never understood."

"No," Luna replied.

"She understood perfectly."

Suddenly a small hologram flickered beside the prison.

A familiar cat-shaped figure appeared.

"Meow!" Kai whispered.

The robot looked nervous.

Its ears twitched.

"Professor Nova is currently distracted."

"Escape route available."

Luna blinked.

"Wait, you're helping us?"

Meow lowered its head.

"I should have helped sooner."

The robot projected a hidden control panel.

"Emergency prison override activated."

The blue energy prison flickered.

Then shattered.

Nova's eyes widened.

"What?!"

Meow immediately hid behind a console.

"I was never here."

Kai laughed despite the situation.

"That's the bravest scared robot I've ever seen."

Elsewhere in the Future Cave...

Mili and Zoey finally completed the override sequence.

"Three..."

"Two..."

"One..."

Zoey pressed the final button.

A powerful wave of energy spread throughout the cave.

One by one, the blue glow vanished from the eyes of students and professors.

Professor Orion blinked.

"What happened?"

A student looked around in confusion.

"Why am I here?"

Mili jumped excitedly.

"It worked!"

Zoey high-fived her.

"We actually did it!"

Soon dozens of rescued students and professors began helping one another.

The mind control was broken.

Nova's army was gone.

Meanwhile...

Lucas and James followed Professor Luca through a maintenance tunnel.

The rescued professor looked exhausted.

"Thank you for finding me."

Lucas smiled.

"We weren't leaving without you."

Professor Luca suddenly stopped.

His scanner had detected something.

"What is it?" James asked.

Professor Luca looked toward the central chamber.

"My brother."

Back in the chamber...

Nova stared at Luna.

"You've become a problem."

Luna crossed her arms.

"So have you."

Kai stepped beside her.

"Actually, you've always been a problem."

Nova rolled his eyes.

Then alarms suddenly echoed through the cave.

WARNING.

Mind synchronization network offline.

Control signal lost.

Nova froze.

"My control network..."

Luna smiled.

"Mili and Zoey."

Nova clenched his fists.

Before he could react, the chamber doors exploded open.

A familiar voice echoed through the room.

"Nova."

Everyone turned.

Standing in the entrance was Professor Luca.

Lucas and James stood behind him.

For the first time all day, Nova looked genuinely surprised.

"Luca."

The two brothers stared at one another.

Silence filled the chamber.

Years of history stood between them.

Professor Luca slowly stepped forward.

"It doesn't have to end this way."

Nova laughed.

"It ended years ago."

"When you chose Jasmine's side."

Luna's eyes widened.

Professor Luca shook his head.

"I chose what was right."

Nova pointed toward the Chrono Core.

"No."

"You chose weakness."

The giant machine behind him pulsed with energy.

Blue light filled the cave.

Nova smiled.

"While you were hiding it..."

"I learned how to use it."

Kai looked at the machine.

"What exactly is he trying to do?"

Professor Luca's expression darkened.

"If Nova fully activates the Chrono Core..."

"He won't just control Stairthaire."

"He'll gain access to countless timelines and universes."

The room fell silent.

Even James stopped joking.

"That's... really bad."

"Very bad," Lucas agreed.

Nova spread his arms.

"You all think I'm the villain."

"But imagine it."

"A future with no uncertainty."

"No mistakes."

"No loss."

Luna stepped forward.

"And no freedom."

Nova's smile faded.

For a brief moment, nobody moved.

Then Meow suddenly appeared on every screen in the chamber.

"Attention everyone."

Nova groaned.

"Oh no."

The tiny robot's eyes glowed.

"Emergency announcement."

"What now?" James asked.

Meow pointed toward the Chrono Core.

"The machine has reached eighty percent activation."

Everyone froze.

"Eighty percent?!" Kai shouted.

Professor Luca's face turned pale.

"We don't have much time."

Nova smiled again.

"Exactly."

Blue energy exploded from the Chrono Core.

The entire cave began shaking.

Cracks spread across the floor.

Machines activated everywhere.

The battle for the Chrono Core had officially begun.
