Chapter 17 - Squad 1’s first real mission

"Mr. Sato, what about the kid?" Lyra asked, concerned.

"The kid is back at home," Mr. Sato replied.

"But how?" Aelira asked.

"Apparently, he was walked home by a massive lion, but before anyone could see the creature, it had disappeared. According to the kid, it helped him walk all the way back to the village by letting him ride on it's back," Mr. Sato explained.

A massive lion that helped a child in need, huh? The world can be a strange place.

"It sure can, kid," Mr. Sato said.

"Anyway, our new mission is just to deliver a letter to the small town 30 miles southeast of our village," Mr. Sato said.

Ok, that shouldn't be too hard.

On the way to the town…

"Help, help!" someone said.

Hey guy, do you hear that?

"Yes, it's sounds like someone asking for help," Lio said.

The squad looked around for a bit until they found an old, collapsed coal mine with a person stuck inside it…

Hold on, sir, there is a lot of debris. We're gonna have to move it to get you out of there.

Don't move. We will get you out as soon as we can move this debris.

Lio and Mr. Sato, start moving debris.

Lyra and Aelira, finish delivering that letter and meet back up with us here when you're done.

Let's get this guy out.

Then the team split up, with Aerin, Lio, and Mr. Sato staying and clearing debris while Lyra and Aelira finished delivering the letter…

There is a good pile of debris here. I'd say there's about 4000 pounds of dirt and rock we need to move.

Let's get this done as soon as possible. The cave may be unstable and could collapse further.

Aerin, Lio, and Mr. Sato then began to clear debris for the next hour…

"We are back," Lyra said.

Ok, help us clear the rest of this debris. There's not much left.

After all the debris had been cleared…

You ok, sir? Do you need us to take you to the hospital?

"No, no, no. I'm fine, and you all have helped me greatly. Thank you," the man said with appreciation.

Are you sure?

"Yes. I'm fine, just a little dusty," the man said with a nervous chuckle.

Ok. Have a great day, sir.

"Hey, if you guys need anything in the town nearby, just ask for Mr. Hiroshi," the man said.

Ok. Will do.

Later, as the team is walking home from their first full mission…

Great job, team. Not only did we accomplish our mission, but we helped someone in need.

You should be proud of yourselves. Right, Mr. Sato?

"Indeed. Good job today, team," Mr. Sato said.

"Our day is over, so go home and rest," Mr. Sato added.

Will do, sir.

At home…

"How was your day, Aerin?" Arthur asked.

It was good, old man.

"That's good. Let's eat and have a chat," Arthur said.

Ok, old man.

To be continued…
