Chapter 7 - Shadow Of Westran (2)

A line that shouldn't be crossed, Lukas had decided to cross it, even if it carried a high risk.

His tone changed, making Lukas tremble—not only because of what the old man said, but because of what could happen next.

(I know I shouldn't cross it, but if I never try, there will never be any change.)

Lukas convinced himself. He knew that risk was necessary to achieve something.

"Fine, you're the one who wants it, so don't regret it—"

As he shouted, he thumped his staff to the ground. The two demons beside him stepped forward, their eyes locking onto Lukas. It seemed they were taking a stance to attack.

(Damn it, can I really handle this without losing my consciousness?)

Lukas drew his sword. His hand trembled as he held it, his eyes widening at the sight of the two demons. Their eyes were intimidating.

Suddenly, they vanished. Lukas quickly looked around to find where they would attack, but he couldn't see them—

Scratch—

Their claws scratched Lukas' hand. His clothes ripped, and his hand felt numb. He almost dropped his sword, but quickly tightened his grip again.

(This is bad. I can't see their movements. My eyes can't keep up.)

The demons appeared in front of and behind Lukas. They slowly turned toward him, seeming to smile.

"Kill him!"

The village chief shouted, surprising Lukas and making him shift his gaze toward him. Suddenly, the demon in front of him—the one-horned demon—choked him. Lukas hadn't even seen him move.

Lukas couldn't breathe. He dropped his sword and tried to pull the demon's hand away, but the grip around his neck tightened.

Slowly, the demon brought his mouth close to Lukas' ear—

"Who the hell are you? Why do I smell a demon from you?"

His voice was low and growling, making Lukas tremble. Lukas couldn't open his mouth. His chest felt hot, and he was almost out of breath.

"Oh no, you can't die yet."

He loosened his grip slightly. It seemed the demon wanted to know more about Lukas, while at the same time trying to hide it from the old man.

"Tell me, which demon do you belong to?"

A smile appeared on his face—a creepy smile. Lukas was shocked, not because of the smile, but because of his statement.

(What does he mean, which demon do I belong to?)

Lukas' curiosity rose, but he was more concerned about his life. He tried again to tighten his grip on the demon's hand. The demon smiled again—

"Do you want to know something fun?" The demon looked into Lukas' eyes, then gave a signal to the other demon. "Do you know that someone who has demon blood easily shows their true self just from smelling fresh blood?"

(So that's why whenever I smell blood, I always lose consciousness.)

Lukas' eyes widened as he saw the two-horned demon walking toward the villagers behind the village chief.

"Hey, what are you doing—?"

The village chief seemed surprised at what the demon was doing and tried to stop him, but the demon suddenly moved his hand and the village chief was thrown to the ground.

"H-Hey, don't do it! You'll make—"

The old man couldn't finish his words as the demon suddenly ripped off one of the villagers' arms. The villager, whose eyes had looked empty before, suddenly regained consciousness as his arm was torn away.

"Aaargh—!"

He screamed as loud as he could, seeing his hand ripped and blood coming out he quickly trying to stop the blood from pouring out.

"—You demon!"

His eyes widened. The village chief couldn't believe what the demon had done while still lying on the ground.

For the first time, Lukas saw someone's arm being ripped off alive. He gulped. The two-horned demon then tossed the severed arm to the one-horned demon. He brought it close to Lukas' face and ate it in front of him.

Lukas felt sick at the sight and almost vomited. But the smell of fresh flesh and blood entered his nose. His chest began beating faster. His left eye burned, while the demon's grip still held his neck.

(T-this feeling again.)

"Arghh—!"

He screamed. Smoke rose from his left eye, which turned red. The demon laughed at the sight.

"Hahaha… I knew it—"

Lukas' head dropped, then slowly lifted again. Suddenly, his grip tightened. The demon's eyes widened in nervousness as Lukas' aura changed. An intimidating aura radiated from him.

The demon looked into Lukas' eyes, trying to figure out which demon was behind them. But he suddenly released Lukas. Lukas fell to the ground while the demon's face showed shock.

He saw a smile behind those eyes, making him tremble. For the first time, the demon felt fear.

The sword flew back into Lukas' hand. A dark aura formed around it.

"You… You…"

He tried to get up and run away from Lukas, but—

"Ru—"

Before he could finish his word, his head was slashed vertically. The village chief's eyes widened. The two-horned demon couldn't believe what had happened.

Lukas' eyes widened. His gaze made the other tremble. A dark aura surrounded him. No one could tell who was controlling that body now.

"You what—"

The other demon couldn't finish his words either. His body split in half. The corpses of the two demons melted into blood, floating in the air before being sucked into Lukas' eye—

Inside a large house in the village, a big figure could be seen—a demon. He sensed Lukas' aura. His eyes widened and locked onto Lukas' location.

The village chief and the villagers who witnessed it were terrified and tried to run away. But as they did, they heard Lukas scream.

"Aaaargh—!"

Lukas held his head, trying to regain control of himself. He screamed even louder than before. He fell to his knees, his head tilted upward, eyes empty, and mouth open.

When he opened his eyes, he was inside a room filled with darkness. He panicked, looking around and trying to escape, but he couldn't move his body. Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of him. It seemed to be sitting on something. Strangely, the only thing Lukas could see was its mouth.

"Welcome—"

A big smile appeared, revealing sharp teeth. Lukas' eyes widened as he remembered the moment he first lost consciousness—a similar smile he had seen back then.

"—I know what brings you here."

"Do you think you can handle it?"

His deep, growling voice made Lukas' heart tremble—a voice that could make anyone feel fear.

"Fine, I'll grant it. Hahaha."

A loud laugh echoed. Suddenly, a huge palm appeared, reaching toward Lukas. His eyes widened. He tried to move and scream, but couldn't. His vision went black.

He opened his eyes, gasping for breath as he remembered that moment. He looked at his hands. Sweat covered his body. He felt something different about himself, but couldn't tell exactly what it was.

He then looked around. He only saw the villagers and villags chief. The two demons were nowhere to be find.

(What the hell actually happened here, what have I done?, what has this eye done?)

At the moment, something massive dropped behind him. The ground shook. Lukas felt its aura—a dangerous aura he shouldn't approach.

"Who are you?!"

A loud, giant-like voice echoed. Lukas saw the village chief staring at the figure, his eyes wide with fear. Lukas slowly turned his head. His eyes widened.
