Chapter 11 - Wings Of The Forsaken

Lukas was only standing there, his eyes blank as if he had been hypnotized. The demon turned into blood and went into Lukas' left eye. Lukas then fell to his knees, his face looking down, blood dripping out of his left eye. Suddenly wings came out of his back, colored black and white. He flicked his right hand to the side, dark energy swirling around his hand and forming into a scythe.

Slowly he stood up, his gaze turned upward. Suddenly he swung his scythe and a light came from above.

***

Few minutes before.

Thud.... The demon successfully stopped the ice but his hand was torn by the ice. Luckily, the ice stopped a few inches before thrusting into his chest, blood flowing all over from his hand. Heza and his colleagues couldn't believe what they saw. How could that demon stop such an attack? The ice melted as the blood covered it. The demon's hand recovered, his eyes were full of anger, and he quickly formed his blood into an axe.

"How dare you mere mages—"

He swung his axe. Quickly, Heza cast another shield spell while his colleagues were trying to buff him, his gaze staring towards the demon.

Scratch.. How surprised Heza and his colleagues was as they saw dark energy coming out of the demon's body. The demon stopped suddenly his body split into two.

(What the—)

Slowly something came out of the demon's body, flying into the air, a person's silhouette with two wings holding a scythe, while his left eye glowed crimson. Heza trembled, he felt an enormous dark aura from him.

"Who the hell—" but before Heza could finish his words he felt a murderous intent. He tried to warn his colleagues but suddenly Lukas flew fast towards Heza, he passed through Heza. As he flew, Heza saw his face, he remembered the boy who was walking with Celdric in front of the Hall.

But before those two mages could react, Lukas swung his scythe towards them. Both of them were killed instantly, their heads fell to the ground, blood flowing. Heza was surprised at how unhesitating he was, then his head filled with sadness and anger at how his colleagues had died.

(How could he—)

Lukas slowly landed on the ground, he then walked towards Heza. Heza was shaking as he heard his steps getting closer from behind. It was his turn. His eyes widened as he tried to turn his glance, he heard his chest beating very fast.

Badum... badum... But the steps suddenly were gone. Heza heard a scream from his back, making him curious. Slowly he turned his head, he saw Lukas holding his head. He seemed like he was trying to fight his other side. Heza was confused but he saw a chance to take him down. Quickly he cast his magic.

"Fourth circle: Heavy Fl—" suddenly he felt something hitting the back of his neck, making his eyes feel heavy. But before his eyes closed, he saw a familiar figure. He added, "Sir Celdric... How could you..." then he fell to the ground.

Celdric hit the back of Heza's neck. But when he arrived at the village he couldn't find anybody. Luckily, he felt Lukas' aura. He then came quickly towards the source. Celdric saw Lukas who was still trying to get back his consciousness. Celdric walked towards him trying to help him, but Lukas seemed to be trying to warn him.

"No.. Don't come any closer, I can't..." he vomited blood, his head feel dizzy. He tried to balance himself but he fell to the ground.

Slowly his eyes opened, a cricket sound all over him.

Heza woke up. He remembered what had happened before, but it was nighttime. He then stood up and looked around. He saw his colleagues lying on the ground headless. He couldn't see them for long. Then he looked around again but he couldn't see either Celdric or Lukas near him. He then picked something from his pocket. It looked like a small pearl, like a magic device for communication. He tried to call for help, then the old Grandmaster picked up.

"M-master I need help..."

"What happened Heza and why haven't you come back yet."

"Something has happened.... but please send some help first and I'll explain to you later."

"Alright.."

"Thank you master."

After that he put it back into his pocket. He then noticed a sword, a broken sword with black energy from before. He then took it. He saw a kingdom symbol on it, making him remember what had happened.

(Sir Celdric how could you)

His grip tightened more, he frowned and his teeth clenched because of what had happened to his colleagues. Few hours passed, it was almost midnight. From the darkness five mages arrived and they were shocked as they saw what had happened there. Heza then left it to them as he told them there was something important that the Grandmaster must know. Heza quickly headed back to the Mages Hall.

After few hours Heza arrived at the Mages Hall. He then went to the Grandmaster's room. As he opened the door he saw the Grandmaster sitting, waiting for him. His face looked impatient, waiting for an explanation from Heza. He then gestured Heza to sit down.

"Heza... Tell me what happened there."

"Sir I don't know if you would believe me but—" Heza's face turned serious, he then added, "Sir Celdric seems to be trying to hide a demonic person.."

The Grandmaster's eyes widened as he heard Heza's explanation. He stood up and then walked towards the window.

"Are you sure about what you said?" He turned his gaze towards Heza.

"How could I lie to you master." Heza nodded.

The Grandmaster's face became emotionless. He then turned his gaze towards the outside of the window, then he smiled.

The next afternoon after Celdric brought Lukas back to the village, Lukas woke up. He sat down on his bed while a blanket covered his feet. He had returned to normal. His head looked down while his eyes stared empty. In silence he remembered what had happened inside the demon's stomach. Feline was walking towards him, then suddenly he lost his memories as he saw her eyes, then suddenly he was outside but he felt something was controlling his body.

Few seconds passed, suddenly he heard someone knocking on his door. He turned his gaze towards the door, then the door opened.

Celdric then came inside and closed the door.

"You've woken up... how do you feel."

"I don't know... i."

His eyes went glassy, he turned his head down.

"I don't think I should've—"

Celdric walked closer then sat on the side of the bed.

"I don't know what you feel but sometimes life needs to keep on going and we must move on from the past—" Celdric sighed, then added "if you keep stuck in your past the only thing that will come out of your mind is regret, and you will be like this forever."

"And remember what your purpose is."

Lukas fell silent after he heard that. He remembered what had happened to him in the past. The villagers rejected him and the kingdom killed his grandfather. Badum... suddenly his heart beat hard.

(Yeah that's right the kingdom is the one who should've felt what I've been through)

His gaze turned empty. Few seconds passed, the surroundings felt quiet, only a few steps were heard from outside the inn.

"Lukas sorry if it's all sudden but—" Lukas became conscious as Celdric spoke. He added "—I don't think you can stay here any longer—"

Suddenly the place became quiet and there was light coming from Lukas' window. Suddenly it exploded. Lukas, who didn't expect that to happen, froze and couldn't react. He then closed his eyes.

A burning smell filled the place. He heard the sound of wood bouncing and breaking into pieces. But Lukas felt something weird, he didn't feel any pieces of wood coming towards him at all. Slowly he opened his eyes. He was shocked as he saw Celdric shielding him, blood coming out of his mouth, his eyes looking heavy.

"S-sir Celdric.."
