Ema's
I opened my eyes slowly. For a few seconds, I did not know where I was. I stared up at the ceiling and recognized it immediately. It was high and white, and I could see the faint, thin crack in the far corner that I had noticed when I first moved into this room weeks ago. I was back at the mansion. I was lying in Derek's bed.
My head throbbed with a dull, steady pain. It felt like someone was beating a drum inside my skull. Every time I tried to move, my limbs felt incredibly heavy. It felt like my arms and legs were made of lead. I felt as if I had run for hours through the woods without taking a single break. My body was completely drained of energy.
Derek was sitting right beside me. He was on the edge of the mattress with his elbows resting on his knees. He was leaning forward, watching me with a very quiet and intense look in his eyes. He looked like he had not moved or slept since he brought me back here.
