Chapter 221 - Chapter 221: Collective Resignation

To be honest, this was quite easy to do because Mr. Weasley himself was not a very complex person; his social circle was simple, and his overlap with Amanda was extremely limited.

Within these limited social overlaps, Amanda didn't believe there was any possible reason that would prompt Mr. Weasley to look at her right now.

So, besides social relations, it had to be professional duties. It was known that Mr. Weasley was an employee of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office at the Ministry of Magic, and this department happened to have countless ties with the current Amanda.

After all, strictly speaking, the magic-integrated technology products she created fell precisely under the jurisdiction of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, and even slightly violated the statute of wizarding secrecy.

So Mr. Weasley was preparing to do something in this regard; Amanda's brain quickly reached this preliminary conclusion and continued to think deeply about it.

Continuing with this line of thought, what Mr. Weasley wanted to do and could do became obvious. The most effective thing he could do was to resign directly, which would to some extent leave the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office in a state of being understaffed.

According to Amanda's knowledge, the British Wizarding World's Ministry of Magic had been understaffed for more than just a day or two, let alone for a veteran employee like Mr. Weasley with over a decade of service. If Mr. Weasley really resigned, it was hard to say if the department could continue to function properly.

However, Amanda frowned slightly as she looked at The Weasley Family talking to each other at the Gryffindor Table, seeing their simple clothes and their identical cheerful, gentle smiles.

As far as she knew—or rather, as everyone in the Wizarding World knew—The Weasley Family's financial situation was not good. Now that Percy had resigned, if Mr. Weasley also resigned, would their family really have enough income to support their life?

Amanda pursed her lips, her gaze shifting back to the Staff Table, to Mr. Weasley, who was confronting Umbridge.

Her right fingers tapped the table restlessly. Amanda couldn't help but secretly hope in her mind, hoping that Mr. Weasley wouldn't do what she had just thought of.

Although doing so would indeed relieve some pressure for her, Amanda didn't want to increase the already difficult living conditions of The Weasley Family just for the sake of this insignificant pressure and resistance.

This wasn't what she wanted, definitely not.

Mr. Weasley, whom Amanda was thinking about, was currently staring at Umbridge over the back of a chair. As for why, it was because Umbridge had hidden behind the chair to avoid him.

She had originally hoped that Professor McGonagall, who was sitting in the chair, would help block Mr. Weasley, but to her surprise, Professor McGonagall didn't give her any face at all and simply got up and left.

That Minerva McGonagall! Umbridge gritted her teeth in anger, but she didn't dare to lash out.

"deputy head of the ministry of magic Umbridge," Mr. Weasley said, looking at her with a solemn and serious face, his demeanor the complete opposite of his usual self. "Given that you tried to use Dark Arts objects to harm my children, I feel that I simply cannot work in a Ministry of Magic that includes you."

Mr. Weasley's words were powerful and resonant, leaving Umbridge stunned in place for a moment.

What did Arthur Weasley mean? Was he going to resign?

He was a core veteran of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office; he had even drafted the laws in this area. If he resigned... Before Umbridge could finish her thought, Mr. Weasley added another sentence that made her even more distraught: "Therefore, I have decided to resign from the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office of the Ministry of Magic. Not only that, but the other staff members working with me in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office have also decided to resign together. It is generally believed that the safety of a Young Wizard is more important than one's job."

With a sarcastic smile, Mr. Weasley looked at Umbridge with contempt. "Thus, we cannot tolerate working under the leadership of a deputy head of the ministry of magic who would use Dark Arts to harm a Young Wizard."

"We have all submitted our resignation letters. Reorganize this department as soon as possible, if you can."

After saying this long speech, Mr. Weasley turned and walked toward the Gryffindor Table without looking back, leaving Umbridge standing blankly behind the chair at the Staff Table, clutching it.

At the Gryffindor Table, the children of The Weasley Family were clapping and cheering, proud of their father's actions.

"Dad, you're really cool!" Fred said with a grin, giving Mr. Weasley a high five.

"Our idol, Dad," George followed up happily.

Ginny gave her father a thumbs-up, and Ron looked at him with starry eyes. Percy, the eldest of the children, hugged his father, his voice gentle but firm.

"You always set the right example for us, Dad."

Enjoying his children's praise, Mr. Weasley couldn't help but straighten his back even more. "Oh, thank you, children. But you shouldn't praise me so much, or I'll start floating on air."

"Oh, Arthur, stop it. You know you deserve this," Mrs. Weasley said, patting her husband, her eyes full of love.

The living difficulty of The Weasley Family might increase because of this.

Amanda murmured worriedly while looking at the Gryffindor Table, and her words were naturally heard by Hermione.

Gently stroking Amanda's back, Hermione leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Then perhaps Amanda could provide Mr. Weasley with a suitable job?"

"I mean," Hermione tilted her head cleverly, "aren't you making products that fuse magic and technology and bringing them into the Muggle World market? Who could be more suitable for this than Mr. Weasley, who has worked in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office for over a decade?"

"He must have many good ways to make those products quickly accepted by Muggles."

Hermione's words immediately opened up Amanda's train of thought. Yes, why not just hire Mr. Weasley directly?

Who could be better suited as a marketing person than him? Not only that, she would hire the entire staff of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office.

They had spent the last decade or so fighting against Muggle items enchanted by Wizards, so they should also know very well how to market these items to Muggles and how to dispel their fears about them.

Her thoughts suddenly cleared. Once she understood, Amanda turned around, hugged Hermione's waist, and proactively kissed her on the cheek. "Thank you, Hermione. You've really reminded me."

Hermione raised an eyebrow, letting Amanda hold her waist, and turned to face her directly. "Mhm, but is your gratitude just a kiss on the cheek?"

Her expressionless face froze for a moment. Amanda tilted her head, then realized what Hermione meant. Her heart rate quickened slightly as she slowly approached the other's face, until finally, their pink lips met.

The Little Eagles of Ravenclaw were already accustomed to this. They simply remarked on how sweet and pleasing it was to watch before politely looking away.

After the feast ended, Amanda stood up, wanting to pull Hermione over to the Gryffindor Table. However, before she could go, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley came over with their children, accompanied by Sirius and Harry.

"Thank you so much, dear child," Mrs. Weasley said, warmly embracing Amanda to express her gratitude.

"By Merlin, our whole family is full of gratitude toward you. You saved Ginny three years ago, and you helped Ron this year."

"I really can't imagine what my children would have gone through without you."

Embraced by Mrs. Weasley, Amanda felt the warmth from this lady, which caused her usually cool voice to stutter slightly.

"It's, it's nothing, Mrs. Weasley. Helping others within our ability is what we should do."

"Not to mention that Ginny and Ron are both my friends."

"They are truly honored to have a friend like you," Mrs. Weasley said as she released Amanda. Behind her, Ginny and Ron nodded frantically, in total agreement with their mother's words.

"No," Amanda shook her head with a firm expression, "it is my honor to have them as friends."

Her gaze shifted to Mr. Weasley, who stepped forward and bent down slightly to look her in the eye.

"Miss Amanda, I think you must have noticed that people from Fudge's faction in the Ministry of Magic want to investigate your activities in the Muggle World. This task falls under our Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office."

Mr. Weasley frowned as he spoke; clearly, he didn't want to do this job.

"To be honest, none of us were willing. We are arguably the people in the British Wizarding World who have the most contact with Muggles, and we know very well how far behind Wizards have fallen."

Mr. Weasley gave a bitter smile. "So we all agree that what you are doing is actually very necessary. We should keep up with the pace of Muggle progress."

"Therefore, using what happened to Ron and Harry as a catalyst, we all decided to resign. The Ministry of Magic will surely be caught off guard, and they won't be able to find replacements for us in the short term. So, I think we might have helped you out. Just consider it a father's thanks to you."

Amanda opened her mouth but said nothing, eventually just nodding.

It took two seconds before she found her voice again. "I am very grateful to you, Mr. Weasley, and to all the staff of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office."

"But," Amanda said, her eyes filled with concern as she looked at Mr. Weasley, "many of you surely have families to support. What will happen in that regard now that you've resigned?"

Just as she was about to continue and say she could hire them herself, The Weasley Family laughed before she could speak, leaving Amanda completely bewildered.

Why... were they laughing?

"Sister Amanda, you really don't know how much change you've brought to everyone's lives in the Wizarding World," Ginny said softly. The girl, who was now strong and assertive to the outside world, only showed her well-behaved and soft Second Year self when facing Amanda.

"That's right," Mrs. Weasley said, ruffling Amanda's hair and explaining as Amanda looked on blankly. "The overall prices in the Wizarding World have dropped by at least half because you took over."

Because the British Wizarding World's biggest 'business tycoon,' Amanda, voluntarily reduced her profits, the overall prices of goods in the Wizarding World were actually falling. Everyone at every level still made a profit, but the final product prices were not expensive.

After all, the price difference was covered by the very top—Amanda—so the living pressure on the vast majority of people at the bottom of the Wizarding World naturally decreased.

This was also why the staff of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office dared to resign and use this method to resist Umbridge's actions.

It was because they had the confidence in their livelihoods, and this confidence came from Amanda's actions years ago. It could only be said that everything that happened, every change, had its seeds sown long ago.

"Thanks to such low prices," Mrs. Weasley said with a bright smile, "our family has started to save money, and we've saved quite a bit—enough for Arthur to have a good rest at home for two years."

"Yes, a long vacation," Mr. Weasley said happily. He could enjoy some quality time with Molly at home. Clearly, he had already forgotten about his son Percy, who had also resigned.

"It's good that your lives won't be difficult," Amanda nodded in relief. As long as Mr. Weasley and the other staff of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office didn't face hardship because they helped her, it was fine.

"Once you've had your rest, Mr. Weasley, perhaps you could bring your colleagues from the department to help me with product sales in the Muggle World. You've all worked in this field for over a decade; you'll surely be the best at it."

As Amanda spoke, she explained the matter she had just discussed with Hermione to Mr. Weasley in detail. The more Mr. Weasley listened, the brighter his eyes became.

This was truly interesting! And it would certainly be a matter of great significance!

"We would be very willing to work toward that," Mr. Weasley immediately agreed, reaching out to put an arm around Mrs. Weasley's waist and looking at her. "But before that, I must fulfill my promise to take a good rest and spend time with my beloved."

Mrs. Weasley's face instantly turned bright red. She glanced at the children around them and lightly patted the back of her husband's hand.

"Of course, that's only right. Thank you for your help, Mr. Weasley."

Amanda nodded politely in thanks, then looked at Sirius and Harry.

"I also need to say a proper thank you to you, Amanda," Sirius said, smiling at her.

"You saved me, and you've helped Harry more than once."

A warm smile appeared on Amanda's face. She shook her head while Hermione held her arm. Cho Chang, Marietta Eckmore, and Penelope had also stopped nearby at some point, watching the situation.

"The one who should be most thankful is me. Perhaps you don't believe it, or perhaps you don't quite understand, but to me, it was you who saved me—saved someone who was moving toward becoming mechanical, numb, and self-destructive."

"You've given me friends, family, and..." Amanda glanced at Hermione, her brain stalling for a moment. "And more. As friends and as family, we help each other and rely on each other. That's all."

Laughing softly, Hermione put her arm around Amanda's waist.
