Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Your Thoughts Don't Matter; Your Existence Does

Regardless of Uchiha Shisui's personal will—whether it leans towards the Village, the Hokage, his family, or a combination of both—and regardless of whether the Uchiha Clan members approve or disapprove of Uchiha Shisui, one objective fact remains unchangeable and unavoidable:

Uchiha Shisui possesses a pair of legendary eyes, placing him on the same level as Uchiha Madara. He is an absolute powerhouse who has already transcended the ordinary!

The Uchiha's "ambition" is built upon this foundation—

Uchiha Shisui is a member of the Uchiha Clan.

That, is enough.

"The historical legacy of Konoha has left the Uchiha Clan perpetually fixated on the position of Hokage. The only difference is whether they possess the power to actually claim that seat... Therefore, Shisui's choice may seem important, but in reality, it isn't that crucial. Dad, let me give you an analogy—imagine if, within the Yamanaka Clan, there was a member with immense power, but whose ideals clashed with ours, putting him in direct opposition..."

Inoichi Yamanaka was still pondering Ino's earlier point about the final measures Konoha might take when he heard her begin using the Yamanaka Clan as an example.

Inoichi Yamanaka temporarily set his thoughts aside and listened intently to Ino's analogy.

"However, this person's mere existence would make others deeply wary of the Yamanaka Clan, simply because he is a Yamanaka—an unchangeable fact. His actual attitude towards us isn't the most important thing; what matters is that his surname is Yamanaka..."

"Consequently, when we go on missions and encounter other Ninja, once they learn we are Yamanaka, they would be intimidated and might even choose to abandon their mission!"

"In intra-Village competition, people would also tend to favor us, speaking with more tact and flattery..."

"..."

After hearing this, Inoichi Yamanaka couldn't help but let out a hearty "Ha ha!" laugh. It was the most amusing and uplifting thing he had heard in a long time.

Once the dark clouds obscuring the sky are swept away, one naturally sees the radiant sunshine and the azure sky.

Inoichi Yamanaka said, "What a shame we don't have such a clansman."

Ino said, "Therefore, the future of the Uchiha Clan is predetermined—the method is set, and the outcome is set. Uchiha Shisui must die. The crucial details—how he dies, and by whose hand... Actually, the best outcome would be for him to be killed by someone from the Uchiha Clan. That way, it would have little to do with Konoha, at most appearing as internal strife within the Uchiha Clan."

"Killed by his own clansmen..." Inoichi Yamanaka was momentarily stunned, as if a door to a new world had opened before him.

The Ninja profession, steeped in assassination, often doesn't consider the tactic of "using others as proxies," usually preferring to handle things personally.

This is a common flaw in every profession—if you're a decorator, you wouldn't hire someone else when you buy a house; you'd do it yourself. If you sell computers, you'd definitely build your own system from new or used parts, not bothering with others—a sign of confidence in one's own skills and a way to save money.

If you can do something yourself, there's no need to go through the trouble of involving others, wasting manpower and money.

Ino said, "Dad, didn't you say that within the clan, Uchiha Shisui has been criticized by some clansmen because he leans towards the Hokage's faction and has always opposed a coup?"

"Yes."

"Well then, isn't that simple? Create a situation where they are forced to kill Uchiha Shisui! They will naturally take action..."

Ino didn't specify what kind of "forced to kill" scenario—explaining things to this extent was already like giving a tutorial for beginners—

If one can't even handle the specifics of "creating the situation" and its implementation, then they might as well give up; it's too exhausting to even think about.

Inoichi Yamanaka pondered this plan seriously and nodded, saying, "That is indeed a promising direction, if it can be executed..."

Ino said, "Even the worst-case scenario can't be much worse than the alternatives..."

In her seemingly "past life" memories, Uchiha Shisui had one of his eyes gouged out by Danzo and then inexplicably committed suicide.

Danzo's methods were a bit crude, but the "King of Blame" himself was crude and didn't care if he took on another black mark, since he was already pitch black through and through.

Shortly after, within a few years, Danzo masterminded the Uchiha Clan's extermination, solving the problem permanently by eradicating its roots. The regret was that Uchiha Itachi escaped, leaving behind an Uchiha Sasuke, who ultimately caused Danzo's downfall. Yet, his goal was indeed achieved—there would be no more Uchiha Clan, and no more ambition.

Ino said, "Actually..."

"What else?"

"If it were up to me—if we're targeting Uchiha Shisui this time, we might as well kill two birds with one stone and take care of Uchiha Itachi as well—" Ino made a throat-slitting gesture, "That way, there could be at least ten years of peace between Konoha and the Uchiha."

"Uchiha... Itachi—"

This "Itachi" was seen by the clansmen as a promising "future." Whether it was being taken to the battlefield by Uchiha Fugaku at the age of four, witnessing its cruelty early on, and learning to view problems from the Hokage's perspective, or his own exceptional Ninja talent... he could be considered a perfect Uchiha! The only imperfection was being too close to Shisui.

Influenced by Uchiha Shisui, Uchiha Itachi similarly wanted to bridge the gap between the Village and his clan, yet he also failed to realize:

What truly affected the relationship between the Village and the clan wasn't the Uchiha versus the Village, but themselves.

A person is not an isolated individual.

A person is the sum of their social relationships, influenced by and influencing others through interpersonal connections. The stronger a person is—the greater their power, wealth, or fame—the greater their influence on others.

And thus, a person becomes... powerless against their own circumstances... "Right, Uchiha Itachi... If Uchiha Itachi matures, then the Uchiha Clan will have a new pillar to support their ambitions. So, with any undertaking, either don't do it at all, or once you decide to act, don't hesitate. A strategist may have a thousand considerations, but if they cannot be executed, they are meaningless."

Inoichi Yamanaka sat down, had Ino sit on his lap, and gazed at the vast sea of flowers for a long time before finally saying:

"So, in this incident, how should our Yamanaka Clan choose?"

Ino thought for a moment and gave an answer.

"Prepare a contingency plan in advance—seize the Public Security Division. This piece of meat is too big for our clan alone to swallow; we must share it with the Nara and Akimichi. After evaluating the Uchiha Clan members, keep some. If any choose to leave on their own, don't stop them... In the future, the Public Security Division should form an integrated system: with the Akimichi Clan leading public order maintenance, the Nara Clan handling pursuit and capture, and our Yamanaka Clan focusing on investigation and early warning..."
