Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 07: Basement

ARIANA'S POV:

I woke up, took a shower, dressed properly, and went downstairs. I saw the maids preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

"Where's Mykel?"

"Sir left early in the morning, ma'am."

"Early? Why?"

"We don't know."

The doorbell rang.

"Go open the door and see who it is."

"Okay, ma'am."

The door opened. He was standing there with another man, a priest?

"Mykel?"

"Good morning, sweetheart."

"Why did you bring a priest?"

"He's an exorcist. He'll end the basement mystery today and purify our home from all kinds of evil."

"Oh…"

"Yeah…"

Mykel pointed toward the basement.

"There. Let's go."

As we stood in front of the basement, I held Mykel's arm tightly. The priest broke the lock and opened the door. Holding a cross in his hand, he went downstairs. Mykel turned on the torchlight.

There was… nothing.

Just a table with an old gramophone on it.

"We'll check it. Maybe the evil is attached to this," the priest said.

Mykel raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing him.

When the gramophone was turned on, the same screaming and pleading sounds echoed.

I couldn't believe my eyes. So it wasn't a woman, it was just this gramophone playing on a loop?

"Looks like the previous owner was just pranking us with all this evil stuff," mykel said.

I nodded.

"I was thinking the same."

---

That night, I lay in bed thinking about the basement. Mykel came in after changing his clothes and sat beside me.

"Are you still thinking about the basement?" he asked. "Forget it. It was just a ridiculous prank by the previous owner. Nothing else."

"Yeah… you're right. I'm overthinking."

He leaned closer.

"By the way, we still haven't planned our honeymoon. I thought you'd choose a place where you feel most comfortable, and then we could go there."

I was going to say mountain areas.

"How about mountain areas?" he said.

My eyes widened in shock.

"How do you know?"

"Know what?"

"That I'd say mountain areas."

"Really? I just guessed. Maybe telepathy."

"Oh yeah…"

"Switzerland."

"How do you know I love Switzerland?!"

"Isn't it obvious? Every mountain girl loves Switzerland."

"Yeah, true."

"So when? Next week?"

"Next week is too far. I can't wait that long."

He chuckled.

"Okay then, Thursday."
