I clamped both hands over my ears, fingers digging into my skull hoping that would somehow shove the sound back out.


"Shut up," I growled through clenched teeth.


My breath came out ragged as I staggered between the trees. Branches scratched my jacket the further I treaded in. My head throbbed so hard it felt like someone had wedged a blade behind my eyes.
