Smile of Heaven run as quickly as she could. At this moment, she was carrying a mother and her child to safety towards the eastern coastlines of America. Which was quite ironic as she was a soon-to-be mother herself.
That did not matter in the current situation however. A category 5 nightmare gate suddenly opening in America was something no one could've imagined in their wildest dreams. She had to save as many people as possible. She had already come to terms with the fact that the entire continent of Nothing America was lost. There was no hope to begin with. No one could even hope to stand against a Crused ranked nightmare creature, which was in the truest of senses, a walking God.
She soon reached the coastline, and saw many large carriers ready to carry both the mundane and Awakened to safety. The Ascended were required to stay behind as they could just call upon their anchors in the dream realm, after reaching a safe distance from the gate.
She put the mother and her newborn in her hands down and once again charged towards the west. The sound of the mother thanking the Smile of Heaven reached her ears but she could not hear it. Her mind was at total chaos at this moment.
'Damn it all...how has it come to this?'
The people were not aware of it yet, but the Immortal Flame , one of the first ever humans to ascend had fallen. To others, it was the loss of a great and powerful ascended. But Smile of Heaven was different, she had just lost her father. The man she always looked up to. She was not even sure if she herself would make it out alive.
As she moved through the plains, everywhere she looked, there were just flames of destruction rising high in the skies, cities leveled, millions upon millions of people dead. Their corpses were being eaten by the Great and Corrupted nightmare creatures which came out of the nightmare gate.
She had travelled quite far from the shoreline. Looking for more people to save. She tried to expand her senses as an ascended to look out for more people.
What she sensed however... terrified her even more. The category 5 nightmare gate had opened a little west to the middle of America so most of the Great and Corrupted nightmare creatures were mainly concentrated there with their Cursed Tyrant to command them. Of course it was expected that few of them may even go further away in the look out for prey, but it has to be only a few. Smile of Heaven had an extremely bad premonition, as there were over a hundred Great and Corrupted ones in a 5 kilometres radius of Smile of Heaven.
Before she could even react, however, an insurmountable pressure descendend upon her. It took out the breath out of her lungs, her eyes felt like they could pop out of their sockets. She crashed down to her knees. Blood started flowing out of her mouth, eyes, nose, and ears. Her entire being felt like it was tearing itself apart.
'N-No, it can't be! The Cursed nightmare creature was not supposed to be here!...curse it all!'
she let out a few curses as she thought that.
Indeed, the Cursed Tyrant had somehow reached near the east coast of America. It had been just a few minutes confirming the status of the Cursed one, and yet it was here. Although it did not look impossible for something with a God status.
Smile of Heaven looked up bravely with a terrified expression.
In front of her, in the middle of the flames of destruction, a pair of dark, vile , sinister and monsterous wings. Attached to the wings, in the middle of it, was what looked like a dragon with two heads. Both heads looked as terrifying as the other. Smile of Heaven immediately knew what the abomination was. It was the Gate gardian and the Cursed Tyrant of the category 5 nightmare gate opened in America. She was indeed in the presence of a God, even if it was a corrupted one.
Smile of Heaven let out a pained groan along with a couple of curses. Her mind was full of despair at the moment. There was no escape to this situation.
'I-I am sorry, James....I couldn't protect our child....'
The Cursed Dragon let out a loud roar, which travelled hundreds of kilometres. It was so loud that it ruptured the eardrums of Smile of Heaven.
At this moment, she had accepted her fate. It was over. The last of the Immortal Flame clan was going to end. James, the Broken Sword, had only married into the clan so he could not be considered. She slowly closed her eyes.....ready to die.
Suddenly however, at that moment, the Shadows around the Smile of Heaven seemed to grow darker.....more sinister. It was reeking of Death.
She suddenly felt a terrifying presence. It was not of the Cursed Tyrant nor was it as intense. But it was distinctive. Suddenly, a black rift in reality appeared right beside Smile of Heaven. It was quite tall and wide as well. It was about 5 meters tall and 10 meters wide. It appeared as cold and impenetrable darkness. It was even akin to a nightmare gate but rather than threatening to devour her, it seemed to welcome her. It was calm and peaceful but chaotic at the same time.
It was as if death itself had arrived.
