There were quite a few bloodstains of varying sizes on Mark's body, most of them belonging to Nate. He himself had barely been injured.
At least, that was what Mark initially thought. Until he felt a faint, stinging pain around his waist and abdomen.
He turned his head and looked down at his side.
The fabric there had been torn open, the edges stained with dark red blood. The wound wasn't particularly deep, but it was still slowly oozing blood.
He pressed a hand against it. His fingertips touched the damp fabric, his movements gentle as he assessed how deep the wound was.
Suzy had been concentrating on driving, but she caught the movement from the corner of her eye and immediately slammed on the brakes.
The sudden stop startled Mark.
He lifted his head and looked ahead in confusion. "What's wrong?"
"You're hurt. Why didn't you say anything?" Suzy unfastened her seat belt, turned sideways, and leaned closer to him.
"I… I only just noticed." Mark sounded a little embarrassed.
